This was my first time coming to Pepper's. I have a rescue dog with some behavioral issues. They were amazing with him! He looks fabulous, smells fabulous, and seemed very happy. The staff were great at listening to my concerns and even helping understand how to care for his coat in between grooms since this is a breed's coat I'm unfamiliar with. I couldn't be more pleased!

Pepper’s Pawfection did an amazing job on my sweet boy Shadow! He looks fantastic and they must have done his nails for him too because they were nicely rounded off leaving no rough edges which is great for when he’s excited and jumps! Thank you Pepper, and your team!!!!

There were some communication problems on scheduling/info and it's unclear whose fault that was but we got it worked out. This was the first time here for our dog, who usually is "weird" for a day or two after grooming, but she was her happy go lucky self when I picked her up. That tells me she was treated well. It is curbside drop off but you can see in their huge windows. They did exactly as I asked and at a price comparable with other groomers in the area. The staff who I talked with was very kind and had a positive attitude. We will be return customers.

They did a wonderful job with our dog, who is normally quite sensitive with grooming and brushing. And he was done in a timely manner, which makes me happy that he's not in a kennel for hours on end. Makes for a happy new customer! We'll be back. (Before and after pics of our scruffy guy included!)

Pepper's Pawfection is absolutely amazing, and definitely lives up to the name! Everytime Bella goes in for a spa day, she comes out with perfect nails, hair, and smells absolutely amazing. Pepper herself is incredibly professional, and her staff is all incredibly nice. Bella looks forward to her grooming every time, and it's almost hard to recognize her when she comes back. The first time she was groomed I honestly didn't recognize her in the kennel right in front of me. Pepper does an amazing job!

I took my longhaired cat here because this was one of the only places in Ames that said they groom cats. I got him back and it was extremely uneaven and choppy, and it wasnt even brushed out. I feel like I was way overcharged for what I got and I will not be going back.

My golden is 5 and I’ve been taking him to a groomer for the past 3 years every single month, well I decided to try Peppers here in Ames because I go to college at isu and figured it’d be easier than driving him back home. They communicated with me pretty well getting my appointment set up and etc but when I went to take my dog I found out they don’t let you go inside which I found very odd and I’m not really a fan of as I had never even talked or met the groomer/owner, I went along with it and was okay with how my dog was groomed especially for just $75 verses $120+ but just think it allowed for a lot of miscommunication between staff and groomer, don’t think I got the groom I asked for, and I just don’t like dropping my dog off somewhere without at least meeting the person handling him or seeing the inside of the building. My dog also didn’t act right for about a day after his groom and his whole stomach had clipper burns on it when I got him home so I’m not sure what went on but once again don’t like that I wasn’t able to meet and talk to the actual groomer or see the inside of the building. I see many people have had great experiences with Peppers so maybe it was just my bad luck.

Peppers Pawfection always does a wonderful job with our corgi. We had struggled to find a groomer who would work with a difficult pup, but the amazing staff at Peppers really stepped up and exceeded our expectations. After working at getting her used to everything that goes into grooming and nail trimming, our dog LOVES going to get groomed and always comes back looking great!

I took my 2.5 year old golden retriever here, and it was his first time getting groomed. He had a few spots of matted hair, nothing too serious, and he turned out great. The staff at Peppers did an amazing job with him, and we couldn’t be happier with how he turned out. They gave him a nice cut, and got rid of a lot of the dead hair he had. Great place, fairly reasonable prices as well.

Staff was very friendly, they did a great job handling my pup who is terrified of getting his nails trimmed. He was still a little damp when I picked him up but he dried the rest of the way before we even got home. I wish they didn't do curbside, but otherwise exceptional overall!

They treat my dog as if it were their own. My Bichon loves to go to Peppers! He had been traumatized at big store groomers in Ames after being burned by a hot clippers. Pepper gave him so much love and care to overcome his trauma and he loves to go there. They are the best!

It has been great bringing my dog into Pepper's salon and not having to worry if he is ok throughout the day! They do a great job handling, grooming, and actually caring about your pet! I would recommend Pepper's Pawfection to anyone!

One of my dogs is a rescue and we have no information about her history, but suspect abuse. She is very wary of new people and situations. I was very apprehensive about bringing her in, but the lovely ladies were so patient and understanding. She looks great and we'll definitely be back!

My grandmother and I brought our dog here the other day and I highly recommend these groomers. Our dog had a perfect trim and was super soft, but he also seemed to like the groomer too. I thought the staff was very kind to myself and my grandmother (who can sometimes be hard to understand). They are a bit on the spendy side of the spectrum, but I think they are worth it.

I took in my very nervous rescue dog, Kiesha, for a nail trim and the people at Pepper’s Pawfection were so amazing to my anxious pup. I had recently moved to Ames and knew I was going to have to find a different groomer here and I am so glad we went to Peppers Pawfection. We will be coming back!

Took our dog in here for a spa day. We asked for her skirt to be trimmed and it was but they did NOT thin out her undercoat. She is shedding as bad when we brought her home as she was when we took her in. We paid $85 dollars and was charged for "extra brushing" 3 weeks after her visit here we are having to take her somewhere else to get the grooming finished. We will not be back. Expensive and half done job. The only plus is that we're not a lot of other barking dogs in there.

I've taken my dog here 3 times now. Was not happy with the hair cut the 1st time, kind of a hack job but the price was good. The second time I specified no cutting, just bath and nails, was a nice job. Third time I again specified no cutting. After 4 hours I called to see if dog was ready and was told within the 30 minutes. When I picked up, her ears had been hacked up again, she was doused with perfume, doubt she had a bath and she was not even combed out. Very un happy, will not go back.

After 4 years of going to Pepperspawfection I was told by Pepper the owner that she did not want to groom my 16 year old shih tzu anymore because he was unable to be groomed due to his age???? I asked her if she was a professional groomer and if so she should be able to groom an old shih tzu and she bluntly said find another groomer I don't groom old dogs that have trouble standing "How rude" Anyway I told her if the stress of grooming elderly animals was too rough for her that maybe she seek employment at McDonald's because I'm not mclovin how rudely myself and my dog were treated I mean she didn't even finish the job and then I was gonna pay but she said NO I won't charge you and I said great because you DID NOT DO YOU'RE JOB!!!!! I don't know if I'd trust here to flip burgers at this point. Will be taking my buddy to a professional because let me tell you folks she was NOT PROFESSIONAL.

Pepper does an awesome job with our 'high energy' Havanese, Dexter. She takes the time to find out what I'm looking to do and does it very well every time! While he is excited to see us when we pick him up, he doesn't dislike being dropped off. Pepper picks him up and snuggles and pets him- I can't think of a reason to take him any where else!

I had the most wonderful experience with Pepper's Pawfection today! Unfortunately it started with an awful experience at PETCO.My puppy is 4lbs and the sweetest Chihuahua you'll ever meet. He's adored by all who know him and I'm not just saying that cause I'm his mom. I recently moved to the area and left behind a wonderful groomer who was perfect to Crash. His claws were getting long and for some crazy reason I thought PETCO was the answer.The lady on the phone seemed nice enough. I got there and as I was checking in they took Crash behind the glass. I warned them ahead of time that his claws were long, that he had one dew claw on his left side, and that he was very sensitive under his armpits. He's yelped before getting his claws clipped in the past. Once when he had to have his whole paw bandaged and another when they were unintentionally pushing into his armpit trying to hold onto his leg.She began on his front left side and he was doing okay. Stayed still but looked scared and yelped once. She was manhandling him despite him being good. When she got to the back left side she had his leg pulled all the way back and he was doing okay at first and then suddenly would not stop yelping. And was trying his hardest to get off that table and her solution was to manhandle him more. I walked through that door and told her to just stop. They acted like they couldn't believe their ears and "how dare I?" But I'm sure they saw the fright all over my face. And I know I sounded like a baby but I didn't care. I kept saying that he'd never been that bad before and just give him to me and I'll pay but that we're leaving. "Oh, he wasn't bad, he's just being a little wiggly." I had to clarify to these young women that I know my dog wasn't being a bad dog, but that I had meant that getting his claws clipped had never been THAT PAINFUL for him. And that includes the time the vet accidentally got the paw. I was still kind of in shock by these people's words, actions, facial expressions, and downright carelessness when I went up to the register to pay. The girl who clipped half of his claws came up right at the last second and said I didn't need to pay since they didn't finish the job. That was the only positive.I walked out, apologizing to Crash for going through that, but feeling crazy for what now seemed like an overreaction. I called a few vets to see if they could clip his claws but everywhere was full. I have no idea why I didn't think of a groomer in the first place. Sleep deprived brain I suppose. But I called Pepper's Pawfection and told her I had an awful experience at PETCO and that they only did half of his claws and she told me to come right there and she could do it.I got there and I can't even begin to explain how wonderful Pepper and Sam were. They asked what happened and I felt crazy telling them. I felt in the wrong. Like I should go back to PETCO and apologize for the way I acted. But Pepper met me with sympathy and understanding and reassurance. Telling me I made the right choice and that not a lot of people will listen to what their babies are trying to tell them and was happy I listened to mine. She was careful not to touch his armpits let alone put pressure there. She talked to him like he was part of her own family and not like he was just another number. They let me see Sam's dog and the bunny and completely made myself AND Crash feel at ease. He didn't yelp once. He didn't look scared. He even licked the other dog there, Lucy, on the nose. She gave Crash a bandana afterward and told me she'd see me next month and she absolutely will. I could write so much more about the HUGE differences between these two places and how much warmth and comfort Pepper's Pawfection brought me but I think you should go in for yourself and find out.Also, I definitely need to know their favorite Starbuck's and if they need any donations for the animals because I owe them so much for saving the day for Crash and I <3

My dog didn't wanna leave the first time Pepper groomed him ..... it's a fun environment for my fur baby.... I'm very ocd about his appearance..... I have never had to complain. Thanks Pepper Thor and I both love u!
