I went in today to get help with a small project. I got someone in the boards section to help me. He obviously hated his job and life. Not only did I not get help, but he literally walked off on me in mid conversation. Thank god I ran into Eliot who was amazing, friendly and very helpful. Do better menards with your employees

Robert was the biggest ghost help to me tonight at Menards!! I needed a high pressure nozzle for our garden hose...after one phone call (the guy was from hardware and said the only thing like that was in with pressure washer). The value cannot be beat, but don't expect much help. The 11% is awesome to use for large projects. The store is clean and organized. The employees generally don't know where items are so make sure to download the app. It will show you exactly where in the store the item is located.

Saturday, June 24th 3:45. Used a rebate check. Plus had a receipt showing a credit from a previous rebate check for 5.68. When I got that receipt the cashier took original card and said to present the receipt in the future for the remainder credit. Did that and two females said they would need to check the cameras from the original transaction instead of just running the bar code. I don't have time to wait for you to run through your video and be treated like a thief. The woman snarkily said they were trying to help me when I said your customer service is horrible. I have a receipt. No one is trying to steal 5.68. Do better. Train your staff!

Nate (younger kid blonde curly hair) working customer service tonight shouldn’t have a job with the public. I walked in to return a water faucet and literally before I even made it to customer service counter he was calling me a thief and accusing me of stealing. His actual first words to me were “Did you steal that.” He told me I was a liar and didn’t purchase it there and said I stole it. Even once I produced my receipt showing I bought it that very morning he still kept going on about how he was in the right. So moral of the post is don’t walk into Menards trying to return something or this guy is gonna go on an ego trip saying you stole it even though you have the receipt.

I've been driving by here the last 2 years while dropping my daughter off at ISU. I finally managed to stop by. The store is very impressive and has a lot of stuff inside. Unfortunately the employees they do have, if you can find one have absolutely no idea where anything is. Very disappointing...

Probably bought $20,000 worth of materials from Menards over the past 6 months as we are building a home....went to return 1 extra shelf bracket that had a scratched bar code this morning without a receipt. Just wanted store credit as I was going to pick up other materials. Older lady at the returns counter was not nice and refused and since I really didn't need it, I left it at the counter and told her to add it back to their shelves only to have her throw it in the trash and make a snarky comment a moment later. Interacted with her before, but when I was wearing nicer work clothes and was treated very differently. Going to start doing more business with Lowes....management might want to put her through customer care training. Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she works the counter virtually every Saturday morning. NOT cool Menards....you definitely lost more than five dollars over this.

We drive 1 hr 20 min to come to Menards, we do it very often since we are home remodeling, and we are now starting to remodel my sister's home but today was the last time we do our shopping here. 4 months ago we ordered cabinets and counter top, the cabinets came 2 months later, I had asked the lady incharge for plain white cabinets she mentioned that Medallion's whitest white was Icing white, my cabinets arrived a cream color and incomplete since the delivery company or warehouse lost our pantry so we had to wait 1 more month for the pantry. Anyway I tried to call and figure out why my cabinets came the wrong color, well truns out the color that was recommended as the whites white at Menards was not the whitest that Medallion offers, a derect employee of Medallion confirmed that their whitest white is Sea Salt, NOT Icing white, despite the big mistake, we decided not to make a big deal about, that until our counter top came and it's is totally not what we ordered, I personally took Michaela Woods and her co-worker and pointed out the design of counter top I wanted. For some reason they decided to pick a different one for me.... All I can think of is that she accidentally clicked on the wrong item. She failed to go over the papers she had printed for us and failed to tell us to check the papers to make sure everything was correct, my husband and I were so disappointed because we thought we were trusting a professional. They did not fix anything for us or will not accept they screwed up our order, they said it was our fault for not checking the paperwork even though they are supposed to select what the customer chooses and they need to double check, they are the "professionals" there. We spent over 23 thousand there and the only thing there is to do is to pay a 25% restocking fee, which its about $600 for returning the counter top. Be very careful because you will specifically tell them what you want but they will choose something else for you and will blame it on you for signing the "purchase agreement". We trusted the lady with our selections and she was not careful when entering it on her computer. I am beyond disappointed and upset because I paid so much for what they wanted to give me. She also lied to the store Manager and told him she whent over the sale agreement which she did not do. That day she still said Icing white is the whitest color of Medallion when it has been confirmed by Medallion that it is not. She should not be incharge of that department for sure. Will not be back to a Menards!

Every store in every state is set up the same so you know exactly where everything is at. It’s not like a Walmart, they always have plenty of cashiers to check you out.

Placed a order and scheduled a home delivery for 2 weeks out. Money was taken out of my bank account. Got an email later in the day saying that estimated delivery changed to 9 months out. Called store to try and get it resolved or expedited considering every store in the surrounding area had plenty. They couldn’t have cared less. Emailed customer service and got what seemed like an automated email just restating my estimated delivery changed from April to December. While stores have a bunch and store is still receiving inventory for these items. Nice automated message about customer satisfaction when you call but the lack of empathy or resolution says opposite.

I was offered help within 5 minutes of entering the store. Very clean, peaceful & organized store with a huge variety of stock.I understand showing off their light fixtures, but I think having so many turned on is overkill & wasteful.Overall, this location is a great store with exceptional staff!

Great, clean store. The product I found in the app was in stock and very easy to find, which seems like a novel idea these days, but seriously, it used to always be like that. You know, you're informed of positive stock and it's actually true. Remember those days? Well, this store does, too! I'm definitely going to take another look at making Menards again my go-to home supply and repair store!

This place has great service and does the order pick up process pretty fast. Unfortunately does seem a little understaffed and some of the employees seem to not know very much about the products in the store although they are very eager to try and help. That being said Menards has everything you will need for your projects or job.

Easily found all the items I was looking for, the staff members are always on point with assistance and pricing other options for me whenever I stop in for a few things. One of the better locations in their franchise, the only other places in the area that I've enjoyed so much was the Grimes location as well as the Ankeny location.

A welcome alternative to Lowe's for building materials and other large home improvement projects. It feels much easier to find an employee here who can help you find what you need. Not sure how I feel about the built-in grocery store, though. Seems a bit much.

Well it was better today than my last confusing visit. Went in the garden entrance which is one way in, same way out. Unlike like the main entrance on one side of store and exit clear over on the other side. Crazy. Got what we went for and even got deals we found on some of it. Still pricey compared to other stores of the same type but if you take the time and know what you want it pays off sometimes

Very large , very clean. We had a problem when the inventory was off , so I was charged for a product they did not have in stock. There was no problem getting a refund very quickly and I was on my way. All in all it was a good experiance.

I was at the Menards in Ames for the first time. I didn't know where things were at. The employees were very helpful guiding me to the proper area. The checkout person was good. Customer Service helped me get the forms and how to get the 11% rebate.

Busy! Busy! Busy! This place is huge but busy! Lots of selections for any and everything! Parking lot was packed so had to circle for a bit. The entry way seemed a bit congested with people getting carts, signing up for the credit card, getting balloons, and doing returns. Love the layout and wide isles! Very knowledgeable staff!

okay, I have to say it. I have become a fan of the store because it has everything it is well laid out the prices are excellent and I can't think of a downside other than that ridiculous check out policy. I'm not sure why they adhere to the crazy line logistics, especially when you're carrying 12 foot boards or some other giant nonsense.

The store is large and has a wide selection of home improvement stuff. Along with mostly friendly/attentive staff, I also noticed how hard floors were. By the time I made it to the checkout, I saw the pathetic, thin strip of anti-fatigue matting for the cashiers to stand on. How disgraceful for a place that sells better cushioning options, to NOT give their employees some consideration and relative comfort. Plus, I'm pretty sure they're asked to stand at the outside of the entrance to the aisles, if they're not busy with a customer. They could offer employees a stool, or at least better cushioning. I hope management takes notice. Treating workers better encourages them to perform better and stay longer.
