I unfortunately have had to be at here with 2 horses this year. Both ended in euthanasia which was absolutely heartbreaking in both situations. I wish I could remember the veterinarian's name who treated both my horses because I have nothing but kind things to say about her. She was extremely knowledgeable, confident, understanding, and so so kind. She very clearly explained the facts in both situations and supported my decision and really just gave me alot of comfort being up there alone having to make these horrible decisions.The times I have interacted with the front desk staff they have been very friendly as well and polite on the phone and in person. I won't go anywhere else for an emergency and honestly I think it is quite affordable given the level of care I received here.

the establishment is incredible, but I feel very sorry for the professionals and the students who are there. My horse was there for 8 days, each day worse, they were going to put him to sleep last Saturday and the day before I took him out of this place. The doctor said that he would not survive 24 hours, I had to give him processed food, because they hurt his throat when they put the nasopharyngeal tube in him, he was totally dehydrated, I think they sedated him before I saw him and so I found him very reluctant... already It's been a week since I took him out of this place and here we are walking, neighing and enjoying LIFE. it is very sad to study for so many years just to get money

Wonderful place if you can afford it. Prices are ridiculous!They really need to make their services more affordable. Many animals suffer and die because they cannot afford 1,000 to walk in the door. A c section for a horse 5,000 to 8,000 who can afford that?

I think they do good care here but I was so disappointed with how they handled euthanasia. When I found out my horse was very sick, they seemed more interested in taking pictures and discussing her like she was an example in a lecture. I just felt like they weren't at all considerate and didn't even care about her. I get she was a learning experience because her condition was rare but there was about 10 people hanging around while they put her down. Learning from her would be beneficial after her death, not the actual euthanization. They barely even said sorry to me. I also know they have to do this all the time but I feel like compassion has to be part of the job. When she had passed they kept teaching while I was still in the room. Touching her eye and everything. They could've waited till I left before they did that or at least given me a moment of silence. They also double charged me but somehow that wasn't the worst part. I just wish I got a better goodbye.

Front office staff and medical staff are all very friendly, professional, and easy to work with. They made sure to take the time to answer all of my questions. Our cow received great care and was much more affordable than expected.

ISU vet hospital is top notch! They are my primary vet for our horses (including drafts) and the small animal hospital's specialists have been instrumental in the care of our dogs when needing emergency care or dealing with long-term health conditions.I've dealt with them and the students for over 15 years. Each time I am always Impressed by their professionalism and the quality of care. You might think because they are a top rated teaching facility that they are outlandishly priced. That is not the case. They provide options that work with many budgets and provide realistic expectations based on the treatment the owner chooses. I've seen them work with a shoe-string budget as well as a "do what you need to do" budget. I've never felt that they provided an option because it was "cool" or they just wanted to do the newest thing. It's always in the best intert of the animal.When dealing with an on-going issuetheir follow-up is timely and dedicated.I would 100% recommend ISU.

They are very personable, they provide great medical care for your animals (and seem to genuinely care about them and you as well).Your mind can be at ease knowing you will be presented with the best options for the care of your animal.
