My experiences in their stores have been great. But their shipping department is terrible. Basically they have totally messed up my holiday gift plans for this year. If you plan on making any gifts drive the extra miles for supplies. Because the shipping department is terrible. Tried to cancel my order but that is not posdible. So it just sits there in processing and goes no where and in the mean time I don't get anything accomplished in the same way.

Purchased online. Recvd msg stating I didn't fill out everything. I filled the same thing atleast 4 or more times including cr.card info. I waited 4the order # n never came. Finally I had a chat, which was worse speaking 2aperson that can't spell,hear or speak english.n I was on phone 20min n 9a store opened. All the info I had typed in 2order, I had 2redo it. This was curbside pickup n talk abt rude she told me they were very busy n I said where do I park, I'm out front. She came outside n I had 2pullup 4 her 2put sewing mach in my car n no instructions w/machine. No receipt either. Singer Co shud never let such pour public relations sales business sale 4them. Turned me away from EVER going thru joann fabric in ames iowa

I love this store!JOANN has awesome costumer service. I walked in one day with my dog because they are pet friendly and my dog accidentally used the bathroom. One of the workers, helping us cleaned it up for us without us even noticing she used the restroom. Very Awesome costumer service!

Unclean and unorganized store. Rude employees.Employees take their time to go to the register. Unless they are already checking someone out, you will have at least a five minutes wait.They refuse to take joann coupons printed off or from the app. I always get told our computer system changed or the manager says I can't accept coupons.Been to that store many times over the years. It's never improved

I like the ankeny store. But when I drove to the ames store the ladies sort of ignored me, had no idea where my order was, said it was never processed in their system even tho my card was charged, made no offers to assist me in finding/getting the fleece ID ordered online and drove from des moines to pick up. One of the ladies appeared to even be a manager but seemed completely nonchalant about anything. Very disappointing experience but at least I got what I went for. No thanks to the staff really

Every time I go into Joann's I feel like a kid in a candy store. I like looking at different crafting ideas and I always walk out with fabric or patterns! And they always have some sort of sale going on!I love this store!

Great service at my most recent visit! Past trips have had the store understaffed and long waits to check out. Today there were plenty of staff and they were super-helpful! When what I was looking for wasn't something they had in stock in store, Skielar helped me find a great solution and I'll be able to get what I wanted just in time!

I had a very good experience. I spoke with both men working and we talked about the weather that we had yesterday and the damage. They were both very, very pleasant to talk with and it made it nice and made me happy meeting the two.

Don’t expect helpful or fast service. Waited in line for a frustratingly long time with over 5 people, there was only one employee on register up front and two employees a short distance away behind the fabrics counter just gossiping with each other and directing anyone who wanted to check out to the poor lone girl up front. Bad service.

The store itself was very nice and appeared clean and organized, however, the staff watched me walk in and never said hello or welcomed me at all. It would have been nice if they would've asked if I needed to find anything.

Your typical Joann store. You can get a variety of crafting items here. Sometimes they have great sales going on. If you're lucky, service isn't slow. Thankfully most of the employees are knowledgeable about crafting and can actually help you with a project.

I don't often write reviews, especially negative ones, but I am really hoping that things start changing at this store. I buy most of my fabric online however there are a few quality fabrics I like to buy locally, however this Joann's is making it difficult. I sent my brother in to buy some sweater knit I needed for a gift. To make sure he got the right thing I made sure he had a link on his phone to show an employee. He did so and came home with ponte knit instead of sweater knit. Huge difference. I understand that the employees don't need to know everything about fabric, but they should know enough to distinguish the names! Also, I have found that I need to always double check the receipt. After checking out one time I thought it seemed off and asked the cashier to redo it, when she did there was a $15 difference! And instead of putting it back on my card I could only get a gift card. Hopefully the employees can get better training so that things like this don't happen!

Clean and organized, but a few issues...The staff were not very friendly or welcoming at all. When we asked where a specific fabric was, the girl barely made eye contact and dismissively said, "A few aisles that way," without pointing in any direction.Also, the entryway was chock full of some sort of pumpkin spice aroma and my wife almost choked out on it. Wouldn't recommend, sadly.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean store and decent prices. Store is near to Hobby Lobby and the Salvation Army, so it is easy to get everything you need for a project basically right within this small shopping area

Disappointing! I refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby anymore, but every time I go to Jo-Ann they don't have what I want. After not finding one thing I needed today, I did have three items, one was 50% off on a shelf with several other similar items. When we got to checkout, my half-price item didn't have a tag, so my husband went to pick up one that did so they could scan it. Meanwhile, the manager informed the cashier that they WON'T SELL ME the one without the tag. Even though we are standing there with one with a tag on it. I told them screw it and left all my items and walked out.

Love this place. Not the biggest I've been to, but still a good selection of fabric and "notions" - they stay true to their core demographic. Where they suffer a bit is the other things you have come to expect from a JoAnn's; yarn and such. But theu are a great FABRIC store.

There can be a wait to get your fabric cut.Location in Ames is center of Ames so there is quite a bit of traffic. If you are on their mailings they have great coupons. Bright, clean store with lots of close parking.

I always have a good experience at JoAnn, and this visit, my first since moving to the Des Moines area, was no exception! Friendly staff, large selection of what I was looking for. If there was anything I would change, it would be to have a more comprehensive yarn department. There were certain brands and types of yarn, that can only be purchased through JoAnn or the manufacturer’s web site, that we’re missing!

I LOVE JoAnn Fabrics!!! They have an awesome selection of vinyl for vinyl cutters among many other great selections on various items. I only wish there were more stores around. On this particular Sunday (9/30), it was busy and I don't feel they had enough help. I was looking for alcohol ink and had been around the store several times looking for it. I finally asked an associate where I might find it. She hesitated and told me she thought it would be with the fabric dyes. She continued on her way to the fabric cutting table. I don't think she knew what it was, bc it isn't for fabric, so naturally I didn't find it there. I continued to peruse the store and was not able to find any available help, so I just left. My rating for JoAnns would be 5, but for this store, they didn't quite measure up. Sorry.

I had found yarn Joann's online at a 40% discount. When I asked, I was shown that yarn and told all in that section was 40% off. When I went to pay, the extras yarn I picked out rung up at full price. When I question this new employee, he overrode the price and gave me the discount!

This store is in major disarray. Associates do not greet customers, aisles are cluttered, shelves are disorganized. As soon as the new manager starts, the store will begin improving.

This is my favorite craft store ever! I bought all the materials for my wedding dress here. There are some good quality fabrics for good prices. The sales are impressive too.

The Ames location is pretty nice. They have lots of stock in all of their departments. Friendly service also. Keep an eye out for their sales, they can be pretty good.

I've just left Jo-Ann Fabrics in Ames IA. The store wasn't busy. After pressing the button for help, I waited several minutes for a clerk to show up. When one finally did, he was trailed by two other clerks chatting him up with compliments and giggling. Unacceptable.

Some of the online coupons did not register when checking out so they had to go back and markdown each item by hand. They we're great about doing it, but it was very time consuming and a hassle. Worth the 70% off!

The staff weren’t very nice to us when we entered the store, and the shelves were messy and the merchandise on the shelves were sort of unorganized as well. The overall appearance wasn’t great, either. My rating- 2 stars.

I bought an item and gave this large middle aged lady a 10$ bill, she gave me change for a 5$ bill. I said "I gave you a 10$ bill" she got in my face and yelled " It was a fiveeeeeeeee!!!" Freaked me out. If she needs the money that bad more power to her. I won't shop at that sh** hole.

The store has narrow isles, but there is a lot packed into a small store. I bought yarn and was able to look through a variety of weights and colors to find what I wanted for my next project.
