The store is in an odd state of every size mixed together in the clothing. And then when my mom paid she didn't notice she was charged for jackets for the long sleeve shirts & the flannel shirt she got until we got home. So when I called there the next day, I was given the run around. I tried calling a couple more times, but nothing's been done & it's 3 weeks later. I know it's only $20, but still it's $20! She hardly buys herself stuff ever so it just is truly upsetting. We will probably stick to Ankeny Goodwill where it's more organized & the cashier's ring up stuff correctly. The stuff we did get was cute and nice, but it was also kind of expensive. I bought a 6-pack of socks at the store, which still had tags from the original store on. The store tag & Goodwill's sticker were for the same price! I thought this is a used/ discount store, yet here they are selling items donated for the same price they're sold for originally. I thought that was a shame.

Employees are always pleasant but this store seriously need to re-evaluate their pricing. A good number of the items (most kitchen supplies, electronics, and some of the clothes) could be bought for less, brand new.

My satisfaction with this store cannot be overstated. I LOVE THIS GOODWILL! It is one of the best in the business. Clean and well-organized and the staff is always friendly. They draw donations from the highly generous local community and you can always find superb gems in the mix there. You won't regret taking the time to stop in.

They STILL do not let customers use the dressing rooms. This seems like a predatory tactic as they also do not give money back - only exchanges. Unbelievable goodwill of Ames forces you to buy the product, take home, try on and then attempt to return for another item that may or may not fit - thus repeating the cycle. Shame on you!

I came to donate quiet a few items today at the Ames Iowa location. The young kid helping us take item from my truck was very unpleasant. Very careless with our items. He broke an item we had in a box. I also brought 2 items that hold many pictures. He was so reckless that one of the frames fell out but luckily it didn't break. He was just so careless it was so sad to think he didn't care about the items.

Staff is great! Very friendly and helpful. My complaint is about the prices. I was in there today. I couldn't believe how much the prices went up. I can go to a department store and buy cheaper on some things and it's new. Purses are 8.99 and wallets are 4.99. These are used items and some aren't in the best of shape. If it was a top brand and in great condition I would pay the price.I bought 2 things and the gentleman asked me if I wanted to round to support their mission. I usually do round up but I won't be anymore. I was very nice to the young gentlemen but I did tell him the prices have gone up so much that I won't be rounding any longer. I won't be going to goodwill much anymore.

I always love shopping here. Everyone's friendly and welcoming. One time I bumped into one of the shelves and accidentally broke this huge glass vase. It was super embarrassing and I wanted to make up for it but they were really nice about it and told me not to worry.

I got in line. It was taking to long. I got in another line. The outstanding gentlemen said he was closing said the line starts over there. I informed him I just got of that said line. After a few huffs and puffs. I let him know and showed him my ice cream maker was 8.99. gave him a 20 told him m to put it towards the donation you have going on. And left. I only know about the donation because you asked for it at both lines I was at. First off. Why ask for donations when you place thrives on money earned for m donations I am buying. A little over kill don't you think. Also I gave him a 20 on a 8.99 item. 4ish Nov 14.

My family went to go donate stuff and the guy outside that was grabbing the stuff that we brought was VERY careless with the stuff we were giving him. We gave him picture frames that stand up and told him that they were picture frames and dropped the glass and didn’t care and just kept doing what he was doing. We are just trying to drop stuff off for things we no longer need that maybe other people would like to have. And people who are careless with the stuff we are trying to donate to you guys, makes it to where we don’t want to donate to you guys for you guys to sell.

Lots of selection. Still no fitting rooms Re: Covid, but that's fine, I understand; and they offered a 7 day return policy incase any clothes don't fit right. Lots of stuff, friendly helpful staff, and they let my child use the restroom even though I am *certain* it was really supposed to be used for customers. Had a good time.

I don't think this store gets as good of items as the Ankeny store. I really like some of the cashiers that guy I will call H since he might not want his name on here is really nice to my mom and I. I think its sweet how he always talks about his family. He treats mom and I equally and that's refreshing since my mom gets the lions share of attention. I feel bad not to be giving this store as much business since I also like the manager. But their are just a lot better thrift stores namely the Ankeny location. I have not been here in month and can not say I plan on ever going back.

As per my knowledge, first used items are sold here.But, with respect, honor, cleanliness, setting, properly, and so on.Everything you can imagine or looking somewhere and unable to find, just visit this place.You'll definitely happy to see your desired thing.Yes, I shopped here. Cashier needs to be retrained on how to handle money. She couldn't count the 37 cent difference and when we told her what it was she refused to listen and had to have her manager come help. Manager was rude the entire time and suspended transaction so others could go ahead instead of just listening to is explain the situation and dealing with it.

I won't go in here again. I bought several things, one bag didn't have a tag on it, because it got attached to my hand, the price was $3.99, but the guy working took the bag to the back where they decided they would up the price to $8.99.

10 x better then Marshalltown u can't even look at stuff so much stuff never get rid just pile it on top very messy and I go all over weekly I hate going there cuz u can't look at anything cuz u may break it really needs higher up to visit them love ames and boone

It's an ok place to buy clothing at a good price. The house items such as dishes, frames, and furniture are too costly! I think what Goodwill needs to remember is they are offer items that at free to them... Any amount is a profit. And people shop there because they are trying to save money. Some items are priced as if the workers have a personal attachment to them. Some days you can shop and everything seems to be priced, $14.99. Gosh people change the price gun sometimes and remember, it's called GOODWILL! Look up the definition!!! I found a food processer at Goodwill priced $89.00 , Used REALLY, I can put a few dollars in and buy it new! As for the staff the guys there are very nice, but the women need to make some adjustments .

Good bargains for college students on used clothing, household and kitchen items, books and DVDs. Also there are kids clothes that are in good shape. No credit cards so take your cash or checkbook.

It seems like a garage sale of a 85 year old person.. items are incomplete, electronic devices are defective and the store isn’t clean (dust everywhere). It is useful for clothing, but that’s about it.

Great store and amazing if you're looking to find CD's and DVD's. I have purchased cheap (we're talking $2.39 each) Michael Buble and David Archuleta CD's, along with also finding steals in the DVD section for movies like "Ted" (also $2.39) and the first season of Modern Family (only $5.99). In the past, I have also found whole seasons of "How I Met Your Mother" sealed for only $5.99. This is a great place to thrift! The only bad thing is that they do not sell computers or computer accessories anymore.

Good place to get name brand clothes that are cheap Go there even if you've got a funeral to go to you can get some really nice coat slacks even shoes if you had to in a minutes notice will cost you next to nothing I bought and whole outfit shoes in everything less than 40 bucks

Clothing is okay priced but I like to buy my clothing a little cheaper. Some furniture is overpriced while others are a really good deal. Can find cheap nik-naks.
