I have always loved Fareway; started shopping there when the store was on Kellogg across from the post office in 1961. Employees are always friendly, helpful, and efficient. My only advice is for more training for bagging. I still sometimes have cans on top of bananas, bread squashed, but most helpful would be not packing the bags too heavily. Lots of elderly, including me, shop here. Overall, great store.☺️

Best grocery store in town. Convenient; easy to get in and out. Best meat department, with the highest quality and excellent service. Best prices day in and day out. Fairway brand items are high quality. Overall service is unmatched by anyone. Considering price, quality, and service, this is the best grocery store in town, hands down!

Stopped in to pick up a few items during a visit to Ames and was impressed by the cleanliness, organization, and friendly staff. Everything was well-stocked and it's clear they take pride in the presentation. I did not buy any meats, but they looked high-quality and were as nicely displayed as everything else. The dirty, chaotic, unfriendly grocery stores in my city could all take lessons from this place.

I love Fareway! Always has the freshest produce around. They will price match, always accepts coupons, fair prices. The staff is always busy and ask if you're looking for something! The best meat market you could ask for. I will only buy Fareways own burger! What more could you ask for? Small-town values, small town prices! They also have the most beautiful pumpkins for carving! I don't know where they get them from but bravo to the growers!

I love this Fareway. Not only is it kept super clean and has great options, but the people are great too! I went out of my way today to go pick up some chicken parm from the meat counter. They didn’t have any made up, but Ted came to the rescue! He quickly offered to make me some and did so in a quick fashion. Very nice. Very kind. Very refreshing to be around great customer service. Keep it up! I will obviously be back.

I wanted to share about a very positive experience I had at the meat department on Saturday. The man cutting my meat went above and beyond cutting the steaks exactly how I wanted them, matching a competitor ad, and educating me on their meat and the quality of their meat. I always look for value and this exceeded my expectations. I have been shopping at Fareway for years but this was one of the best experiences I had ever had. I love the meat counter at Fareway. Their produce is also fabulous, and they have baked goods. I think this is the best place for propane tank exchanges for the grill, too.While this store isn't as big as some grocery stores, it's easy to navigate, find someone to help you with a question, and they still have carry out service.

I think the prices are terrible, unless you’re buying meat that is on weekly special. Not much better than Hy-Vee. I will buy meat there if it is a good deal, but for most of my shopping I will stick with Walmart or Aldi.

One of the best stores to get fresh meats and produce, they also have the best customer services in the industry. Everyone I've met at every location is helpful with a genuine sense of professionalism. If you dont know about fareway then you should definitely make it the place to get all your groceries for the family. They have so many sales that change frequently so it's a great idea to join in their online sales/rewards program as well. 10/10

Fareway is clean and well organized, and has excellent customer service. The staff is friendly and very willing to help customers. Receiving help with your groceries from the store to your vehicle is great.

It was five stars with great, super helpful staff before building the new store. Now that its new, I don't grocery shop anywhere else! It doesn't matter what department of the store I'm in, if I have a question, it gets answered quickly and helpfully. This hold doubly true for the meat counter (but what else do you expect from Fareway).

I went to this store early one morning and the manager was picking up trash in the parking lot and pulling weeds. When I checked out the young lady asked the manager if she should call someone to bag. He said no that he had bagged a few groceries in his day. Wish I knew his name...what great guy

It's a wonderful store. Not so large that you can't find things. Prices are reasonable. They still hire high school kids to carry your groceries to the car. It's a real Iowa treasure.

I have shopped here for years, and the meat counter had been great overall.Over the summer, I got several packages of beer brats when I ordered regular brats, but I worked trough that.Today, I bought a couple of steaks, including. Sirloin strip, to grill for dinner. 2.5 hours of being in frig after purchase and I unwrapped it to add spices before grilling. Steak was a dark gray throughout.Needless to say, I took it back to the store. I expected an apology and a new steak.Instead I got an attitude at the meat counter from a young kid who insisted dark gray is the perfect color for a steak. He then decided to mock me when I wanted it returned.Long story short, I left the steak and my money at the store. And, I am leaving you this message to say this place isn't as great as it used to be...

Fareway is my go-to grocery for meat, and they have pretty much everything you need. I love their courtesy service where someone helps you to your car with the groceries. It makes life so much easier, especially for someone wrangling young children, or otherwise might need a hand. This location is an older one, and the carts are low and deep. I prefer the newer carts at other store.

The Fareway in downtown Ames is a good place for groceries and deals. But don't count on it for your special recipie. While they have a good variety for staples the selection for bread spices and seafood is limited. For example, I often want pretzel buns for burgers but these are rarely available here. Fresh basil, too, is often hard to find in their aisles. Despite this, Fareway is great for most weekly grocery needs and their prices are good. Lastly, while it considerate of them to bag your groceries, they do not make it easy to bag your own if thats what you prefer. The short checkout lanes and tight quarters make it awkward to go between the baggage area and the till, especially if you have a cart. The workers are friendly but usually not personable.

This is a smaller Fareway but a new store in the same location is coming. It has all the basics and an excellent meat counter but the produce section is somewhat limited. Friendly service without feeling forced round out the experience.

As far as I'm concerned number one grocery store in the Ames area. People are friendly. There's definitely a smile on every Isle in fairway. The prices are the best in town.

I was discriminated when I checked out using 10 dollars coupon, the girl said: “I hate this!” In front of my face, at the end because some of her mistake operation, I can only get 7.6 dollars off. She even didn’t explain anything to me until I came back to found it!Is there any fault to use coupons there??!!I got so disappointed and anger with her attitude, it’s so terrible! Hope someone can see this, be careful. You may be despised too if you are trying to save money or using coupons there!

This is the grocery stop local shop at for prices and service. This is a grocery store without all the added fluff that wastes most peoples time. Be sure to check out the meet department for the freshest cuts in town. Fareway is open till 9:00 pm Monday - Saturday. Closed Sundays!!

Person taking my groceries to car didnt even tell me to have a good day like i did to him after thanking him. I know to day is July 10th, macaroni and pea salad was dated today but it tasted awful

I really like Fareway stores. Their prices are as good or better than other places, their meat counter is absolutely the best and they still carry out your groceries. You can't do better than that.

The Fareway on Stange is a lot more friendlier. Not one employee smiled or said hi to me. I dont care for the parking lot. Out of several items. Overall not a great experience. Will continue to drive over to Stange Fareway.
