This store was a mess when I visited. The shelves weren’t stocked, the workers were talking more than working, and the card machines were incredibly slow. Fortunately for me I was able to find a different version of the product that I was looking for during my visit, but if you were going in looking for a specific product you might be in trouble because the shelves were so bare.

Great Christmas selection and prices. Kudos to the employee at the register tonight. When I went to leave my car battery had died due to "someone" leaving my headlights on. After several attempts to find a jump I went inside to ask the employee if he had jumper cables and he did not. However he went out of his way to find someone in the store that did. Great customer service!

“Dollar Twenty Five Tree” is always a great place to go for surprise deals on products. It has been my go-to for theater size candies and popcorn for years. The salsa stocked in the snack aisle is very good for the price. The aisles can be messy from customer traffic, but it’s expected for this type of store.

I like the selection of crafty stuff.I make epoxy resin pieces and have found so many useful tools and things to use here. A little imagination and a dollar tree is all you need at times!!

The store was very messy and had pallets of unopened products all over, and they have been there for multiple days. Many of the products on the shelves were still in the cardboard package that the products come in, just with a hole in it.They have many cashier stations (maybe 8?) and there was only one open. I don't blame the staff, as everyone is understaffed. This poor woman seemed to be working alone, and there were more than 10 customers in the store shopping, and 6 (including me) in line to check out.The staff working today was not friendly and didn't smile or say anything. But I probably wouldn't either in that situation.

I don't write reviews but bruh when I tell you this old hag ..My friend simply said hello (which honestly he shouldn't have) ..it said nothing just gave us a dirty look ..she didn't tell us our total nor did she give us our receipt until we were almost out the door then it yelled if we wanted the receipt. If you are that miserable stay home. Idk how's she gotten around life like that. Id be sad too tbh they need a new employee

I hate to write negative reviews and always try to find the positive in the places I go, however, this particular Dollar Tree in Ames has some DRAWBACKS. Some Employees are unfriendly and sarcastic and some are even racist. The manager is nice however a couple ladies don't take the time to even tell you where products are and give very sarcastic responses. The store smells weird but you will get used to it in a couple of minutes. The items are generally well arranged and presented. I hope new employees can be hired and trained for better customer service

Overall, I love how the store is cleaner and more organized than Dollar General or some other stores but the employees could definitely watch what they're discussing with other customers when there are others around. I shouldn't hear the word 'douche' 9 times while I'm standing in line

Business hours are listed to be open until 10pm and they write in black marker on computer paper that they are closing at 7pm and opening at 10 am rather than 9am. Wasted my time coming here under the assumption that the correct business hours would be listed.

The store is very disorganized its hard to find the products they do have but the Ames store in particular seems very lacking in inventory compared to other Dollar trees in say Ankeny or Des Moines. It used to have pretty good stock but it has gone downhill quickly. The store has had a rather rough smell since day one that hasn't gotten any better with time. The floors are very dirty so that could be one source. The staff can be quite friendly depending on who you get but some are also very stand offish which is not a good personality for retail and definitely doesn't draw more business. All in all it's just not a good experience anymore at all.

Smells very very very strong like urine. I couldn’t stand being in the store for even a couple minutes I had to leave before I passed out from holding my breath. I’ve never experienced a smell like that in a store. It’s happened on more than one occasion. Not coming back!

The whole store smells awful, like dirty cat litter. It’s pretty overwhelming (even with a mask on) and made it difficult to enjoy the shopping experience. The cashiers are rude and snap at customers. I witness one yell at a man for asking for his receipt. Just an unpleasant experience overall.

They understand what it is like to be a girl boss. Everyone hates to see a girl boss winning except for Dollar Tree which wants us to win with all of our girl boss might. I am happy to finally have someone listen to me and understand the girl boss life style. I'm tired of people putting me down by saying things like "you are not a girl boss" and "please stop stabbing me please please ahhhhh..." or "Take all my money just don't shoot me, I have a family" (note, family tree is different) The people at Dollar Tree never said this. Plus they gave me this as a gift. Thank you.

Usually a good place. Today i was in line with 1 item. I noticed the cashier light wasn't on. I assumed they were trying to close that lane. I went to the next. It was taking a long time since people had carts full. So I went back to looking for something else to buy. Didn't find anything. Went back to the front saw the cashier was still checking out people with the light off. So i assume she is just a kind person. I get it in line. Again behind people with many items. She then says my lane is actually close. I get angry at this roll my eyes and get to the next lane again. Still taking forever. That cashier then goes on break i guess. But came back seconds later and said I can help someone on lane 3. While i am still waiting in the line she forced me into. WTF!

Amber, an employee found a wallet then gave it to the wrong person. ID was in the wallet, did she apologize to the customer about the mistake no, instead she gaslight him saying he picked it up. The rudest experience I have witnessed.

Has great facial & skin tone products with excellent facial mask at an unbeatable price because everything's a dollar! Don't let the price fool you, they are great products for a dollar. I'm very impressed & very happy & very satisfied with the products. They include a variety of mask & other facial beauty products to choose from so you are not limited by any means.

Love going in here for shopping. The variety of items is descent and of course everything is $1 or less. The staff are mostly pleasant but I prefer not to hear staff complaining about their job and rate of pay.The biggest drawback is that it is always super hot in this store. In the winter even it is too hot. In the summer it is unbearable.

Staff are friendly, have good working knowledge of what’s in stock, and keep the store clean. I live within walking distance and usually end up stopping in at least once a week if I need something quick and easy, and almost never leave without what I was looking for!

While I don't like their return policy (you can only exchange items; you can't return them), the store does have a good variety of items, they have long hours, and obviously everything is a buck. For many things - especially party supplies or cheap toys - it's a great way to go.

The store locks their door at least 5 minutes before their posted closing time. I don't know if it is store policy or lazy employees. I showed up 5 minutes before the posted store closing time to buy 1 item and the doors were locked with employees in the store and lights on. During a prior visit, I had to be let out of the store again prior to closing time.

Going stick to right in the middle. As they have great selections and of course great prices as it's all a dollar.The other end, you have to always call to see if they are open 1st. Hours: 9A -10P (Sun and holidays differences)They get mad when you call because it's a busy store, but again, you have to as they randomly close. I went yesterday at 734p and they were closed. This happens a lot.

I have an addiction to this place. Every time I go, I have to look at everything. There is always new stuff all the time.On this visit, the lady that was working was AMAZING. She was helpful, friendly and personable. I know that they change staff a lot but I hope she sticks around.

Got some great Hallmark Easter cards for .50 each. Got a purse-sized bottle of lotion, a package of Hallmark stationery, and three movie theater boxes of candy for a dollar each. Total: $7.43 with tax. A great place to get small items that you really need at a low, low cost.

The staff seemed friendly to customers, but seemed to not get along with eachother. Things are cheaply made but it is only a dollar and there are lots of great little stocking stuffers or small gifts. Great for getting supplies for projects.

The products are decent for only being a dollar. I go here to help fill my OCC box for charity every year. Some things, I chose to go elsewhere for to get better quality, but they have a good assortment of coloring books, toys, kids dishes, beads, hair accessories, etc. The bathroom doesn't have a changing table and was a little dirty when I was there, which kindof drinks when you need to change a baby asap.
