Stam is a lovely store. The staff is always friendly and the chocolates are oh-so-good. My family loves the gelato. My only complaint is that I wish the prices were more transparent on some of the items, like those sold by weight. As in, I wish all prices were actually posted/readable. I know I'm buying luxury, but when you mishear the price as $4.99/lb. and it is $47.99/lb, it's a bit of sticker shock!

An extremely nice experience. They have so many options for chocolates and you can make custom boxes of different sizes including gift boxes. They also have a nice collection of gelato available. The ambience of the place is also extremely soothing if you want to sit for a while enjoying your coffee or a gelato. Finally, there's a piano there too! Visited Iowa for little more than a week and already went there twice! Last but not the least, the waitresses are extremely warm and welcoming.

Can't wait to go back! Google brought us there searching for gelato on the way home and it is a stellar find. The atmosphere is incredible (charming, vintage decor and wooden floors), treats delightful, and customer service second to none. Owner was walking around conversing with patrons. You may need to pay for parking. Can walk around main street to see art everywhere. Fantastic stop!

Very friendly, and helpful staff, many varieties of chocolate, coffee, tea, ice cream, and wine. You should try their coconut latte. They have some people playing piano as well from time to time. A tips for you guys, there are public parking areas right behind the main street; a good option for free parking.

Best coffee shop/ chocolaterie in town. I like the atmosphere, the antique, the coffee, the gelato, and the positive vibes. Their service and hospitality amazing. The manager himself will welcome you by the door and ask you about your experience! Definitely will go back.

I love this place, it feels very sophisticated inside but they are still family friendly! Their chocolate and gelato are amazing, the people are nice and the atmosphere is lovely, especially when they have someone playing the piano. If you are looking to get the most chocolate for your money, we find buying by the pound and not per piece saves some money (or gets you more chocolate depending on how you look at it).

Wow just wow. Visited this place on my second day in iowa from Maryland! I'm an avid chocolate lover and have tried all sorts of chocolates from godiva, royce, truman, l.a. burdick and much more and this local chocolate shop very easily beats every chocolate I've tasted in my life. If Chocolate shops had michelin, this place would easily be three michelin stars lol. I've tried their hot chocolate, caramelized waffle snack, and the truffles, and they are all heavenly rich in flavor and smooth. Gosh I can't describe in words how amazing they were! ALSO, I ran into the owner and he pleasantly introduced the history of this chocolate shop and was super friendly to us. The ambience was just incredibly decorated and cozy - a perfect place for romantic dates. I cannot recommend this place enough!!!!! ❤️ I can't wait to visit this place again tomorrow!! These chocolates will be my suvenior to Maryland to my friends and family.

Incredible chocolates and other treats served in a gorgeous store.I love coming to this place, I'm from Montana but every time I'm in Ames I make it a point to stop and pick up my annual box of chocolates. These are truly some of the best tasting bonbons and truffles I have ever had.In addition, they also serve great specialty coffee drinks and gelato made in a variety of flavors.The interior decor of this store is simply elegant. The cozy and inviting atmosphere make this a favorite spot among the locals to chat over a cup of coffee. Plus the friendly and helpful staff always make you feel welcomed and appreciated.Chocolaterie Stam will always be a favorite of mine!

Stopped in on 3/25/23. I found the place to have a very welcoming and quaint atmosphere that was complemented by a friendly and helpful staff. In terms of products, the blueberry gelato I purchased was incredibly flavorful. I will definitely be returning! If you are in the downtown Ames area, I highly recommend stopping in to buy yourself a treat.

My husband and I tried 6 different chocolate truffles; some dark, some milk. The truffles were, on average, too sweet, and missed the note we were expecting to taste. The dark chocolate was slightly better in terms of flavor profile. The staff was very amiable.

Ugggggh I can't go in this place without buying so much chocolate. I love their chocolate. They have really good coffee as well. When you walk in, you automatically feel good. Then you get to look at all the chocolate and receive excellent service from the employees. Been in few times and it has always been an amazing experience. I really recommend it
