I filled the application, sent references, visited with Mary, Kim and Kathy. Totally professional, interpersonally kind. During my call from Kim a visit was allowed to meet my new dog I found online on a Sunday afternoon.This is a compassionate and very responsibly run organization from the top down. I met my new Coonhound today for the first time meet and greet.There is a spirit there that is warm and helpful to the pet you are selecting and you the new owner. I am proud to have found SAFE HAVEN as I did. You live up to your name “SAFE HAVEN”. I could palpably sense this as I entered for my appointment. Thank you! During this time of searching it should be profoundly noted how well you do what you do. More awareness needs to be spoken for how warmly you voluntarily go about pet adoptions at the Williamsburg, Iowa Facility. We are so proud of you all for helping adopt Sherlock into our family. Side note: Kathy you invested special care and love with Sherlock. For this I thank you deeply. I promise I will do the same. Safe Haven works to find pets safe and happy forever homes. I adopted a cat there years ago, and he is as sassy and demanding now as ever. I've met with a few dogs as potential pets, and Safe Haven volunteers worked with us to assess compatibility with our resident dog. I've also been called as a reference for potential adopters, and was pleased at the work the staff put in to screening people for adoption suitability.Safe Haven accepted a dog from a friend who had to relinquish a beloved pet, and they were great during that heartbreaking situation--there was no judgement for the difficult choice my friend was making, and the staff provided pictures (w/permission) of the new family that adopted the dog.Should I fall victim to a rogue bus driver (and all friends and family options are unavailable), Safe Haven is where I have willed my animals to go.

My son had an emergency mishap and the officer who called the ambulance placed his dog in the care of Safe Haven. I called to check on Bella and spoke to a very nice help young lady who reassured me Bella was fine. When we picked up Bella they packed some dog food and bowls for us. Just amazing people, thank you so much Safe Haven for taking care of Bella til we were able to picked her up. Much love and respect to your establishment. Ahèhèèh ní’sta gò💚💚

I stopped by for their Annual Fall Cookie Walk. Due to COVID it was all Drive Up but the volunteers were still friendly and happy to see everyone.I run a Non Profit and they have me kennels for 2 families and Styrofoam boxes for the stray cats in my neighbourhood.I've always supported Safe Haven and appreciate the hard work all of the wonderful volunteers put into keeping this No Kill Shelter up and running.

Was denied adoption due to my cats not being up to date on their rabies/distemper. They had been to the vet and they did not prescribe the shots the last time they went. (I understand this is my issue they weren’t up to date. I was willing to go thru necessary steps needed to adopt)When explaining this to the adoption agent she said she didn’t believe me so I had to call my vet to have them call her back and explain this to her. She said she already called them and they didn’t know of me. Even though I have taken my cats there several times.I told her I could get the necessary shots and come back but she said she would never consider me now given “an out break” wiped out their kittens when that is not my fault. My cats are healthy and well taken care of. Just happened I didn’t have them up to date at this very moment.I even drove 1.5 hours and she didn’t tell me this when I was on the phone with her this morning and she had already seen my adoption application stating this info.Unprofessional, rude, and biased. Will never recommend or try to come back.

Awesome staff. Stopped by shortly to drop off goodies for a fundraiser. Got to see some of the fur babies going out for walks. They all were wearing little coats/sweaters! I thought that was really a sweet gesture to help the rugrats to stay warm and cozy. Awesome place!

Best place to adopt from in the corridor! Every member of the staff is fantastic! They treat you like family here. Safe Haven took the opportunity to get to know us unlike the other locations which just judge you based on your application.

If your dog happens to get away from you they charge you 300 to get it back not right they hold them hostage til you take them to the vet. You wonder why all these places have to many animals there was nothing wrong with my dog he just ran away and he was lost for at least a week and was matted and i would have taken him to be groomed but took it upon themselves to charge another 100. Who are you people.

The place looks clean and the dogs and cats look well taken care of but they didn't let me adopt a cat because my puppy at home wasn't neutered, it's sad because a cat lost an opportunity to have a forever home.

Lost my buddy Huckabee to cancer. Decided not to be without a big dog around. We found "GUS" here. Just from the pics and description I knew he was the one. Got the call to come visit him. That we did. 1 hour later we met Gus, signed the documents and off we went for HOME. Best decision ever. This staff of volunteers is above and beyond. Rescue will be my only choice from here on.

These folks have preformed nearly 100,000 sterilization surgeries since opening in 2013!I mean... Dang!!! That's a LOT‼️And they took such great care of our outdoor cats!
