My favorite shop to browse when visiting Amana colonies. Can find an assortment of gifts and german sweets here. Downstairs is the coffee and tea store.

Our favorite shop on the strip. So many fun, unique things. Great place to shop for gifts! Lots of Christmas decor, candles, lotion, coffee beans, etc. Can’t wait to come back!!

This was a great store that seemed like a center peice of the town. The store was laid out beautifully with something to see around every turn. There is also a year round Christmas shop on the main level.. The displays were like the windows on 5th Ave in NYC! In the basement is a coffee and tea shop. They were not serving the tea because of COVID-19 but had coffee to drink. My wife bought 3 cups and many bags of coffee beans.

You have to take a wander through the General Store if you visit the Colonies. It has an incredible amount of items, nicely laid out for easy viewing. Check out the International Christmas Shop and the Tea and Coffee sections. You could seriously spend a long time looking at all the merch.

Such a fun place to browse and shop! Start here on your visit to the Amana colonies. A woman in the store was incredibly helpful and welcoming. She gave me information about the community and their fascinating history. The Amana Colonies are truly a gem in rural Iowa, and I was amazed by this store! 🤩

Giving 1 star because it's the minimum, but for me, I'd give it 0. When I went, unfortunately a man who worked at the store kept chasing me wherever I went! I don't understand, the store was crowded, but he followed me and my husband wherever he wanted us to go. I felt very uncomfortable. Is it because I'm Latina? Well, I don't see any other justification. I was well dressed, and I was walking. To the gentleman who persecuted me: I don't need to steal anything from your store, I'm here legally and I work to buy what I want and need! It was all so ridiculous that before I realized it, I left the store and hope to never return. I don't recommend these xenophobes.

Great place to find unique gifts and home decor. Plus they have a lot of great food products, just be sure to check the label. Some products are not made in Amana, but instead “made FOR Amana” so who knows where it came from. Just check the label and your fine.

Year round Christmas is definitely the highlight of the store. The merchandising is so impressive with every surface covered in items for sale. Additionally candy and food goods and other general store items means you will leave with some treasure or momento.

Stopped at the Amana General Store for the first time in MANY years on Tuesday, Nov. 1st. Always nice to see their offerings of seasonal gifts and decor (that came from my wife). We took home a few things, but only 2 of them made it in the pic shown. The Italian Bread Dipping Seasoning is fantastic. And, I cannot say enough about their coffee (located on the lower level of the store.) I brought home a bag of the Amana Private Blend Decaf, and folks ... this is some of the smoothest decaf coffee I've ever tasted. Doesn't have that "acidic" flavor. So, If you've just stuffed yourselves at any of the fine dining places in Amana, walk around a bit, burn off some of those calories, and stop in.

I always secretly hope for a long wait time at restaurant so I can shop a little longer! Such a fun place for unique, one of a kind gifts and keepsakes. You must try the homemade soaps! No more dry hands in Iowa winter! It is Christmas all year long here and it is magical. If you do theme ornaments, theme trees or theme gifts this is your store. Everything you can imagine Christmas and beyond. It is so beautiful that you can, and very well may, get lost in the wonder of our all. Don't forget to go downstairs. Free coffee samples while you shop too!

We love this store. You got to try the root beer and the coffee. This store is amazing. Once you enter the store you will feel a different atmosphere. Similar to Harry Potter movie places. They usually have some coffee or tea to try. It’s not always my favorite but the design in the basement is magnificent. Last year there are 2 stores nearby going out of business. We do hope this store will last forever. If you come to the next store, you’ll get early Christmas experience. Awesome!

Very cute gift shop. They sell some excellent tea! I had their red rooibos and it had a wonderful vanilla flavor. Always like to check in and see what is new as they carry perfect gift size containers of food and jam.

I bought a $36 lighted snow globe. Was truly APPALLED the cashier took out the 3 AA batteries that run the lights before wrapping it up for me. I had to run out and buy batteries. BTW I got cheap AA batteries for under $2. They should have kept them in the item. It also didn't come with a box but they did wrap it in bubble wrap. A very shoddy way to treat customers.

This is a nice little Shop that is quaint and charming. My wife and I were most concerned with the niche items. I was impressed by their array of old fashioned taffy and candies. My wife liked looking at the tea and tea accessories in the basement.

This place is absolutely PACKED full of knick knacks. It smells amazing as soon as you walk in. They’ve got a great selection of Amana memorabilia and so much more. It’s a must see if you’re in town. I just wish they had a better selection of tourist magnets, as my family collects them.

They have so much within the store, it is almost a sensory overload. One side in Christmas ornaments, and the main side is decorations and useful objects. There is something for everyone! Great place to stop by!

It's an old feel of a general store from decades ago. Selling products made in the Amana Colonies. German accent on many products and souvenirs. Something for everyone. Christmas room is elaborately decorated. Includes ornaments with Iowa accent. Candy made in old world style, some nostalgia.

This is a cute gift store where you can get a hodgepodge of things: seasonal decor, Christmas ornaments, beauty products, cookbooks, candy, coffee/tea, candles/ home fragrance, souveniers, etc, etc., etc. The clerks are all very friendly and helpful, without being pesky. It's a fun store tip get lost in for awhile.
