I took my dog here and had an appointment for 7AM, I get there at 7 and no one was working the front desk. It took 10 minutes before someone came out then when they did they told me they don’t know when the cleaner gets here so what was the point of setting an appointment? I pick up my dog later and it took almost 20 minutes for someone to come out and help. They were in the back blasting music. They told me her nails were trimmed ( they weren’t) and she was groomed nicely but why say her nails were trimmed, take forever to help me out, then at the end of it they ask for a tip.

This place needs help. Little staff and dirty. Watch your dogs paws and ask if you can see the facility where they bath dogs. Counter service in need of help too.

I took my dog there last week and they did an amazing job! She is very timid and skittish and they worked with her and I have never seen my dog so relaxed after a grooming! They were all super nice and you can tell they love what they do!

My Pyrenees and Japanese Chin mix were both groomed here. The groomer did a wonderful job. The price was more than reasonable and my dogs came out happy and were not stressed like they have been at other grooming places. The shop has some cute items for sale as well. I agree with other reviews there was a very slight urine odor when i walked in, but everything seemed very clean and my dogs and leashes came home smelling wonderful. They have a doggie daycare too and I'm sure accidents happen! There were even 3 little dogs behind the counter chilling out on dog beds greeting the customers. My dogs were well taken care of and we will be back.

I have been going to Pampered Pooch for over ten years. First my diabetic dog Jack and his sister Ledi. Now my puppy JJ. If you want your dog taken care of and to have fun this is your place. My dog Jack was diabetic and when I was out of the country I was always relieved he was there. Any medical needs he had we're more than taken care of. He also had so much fun. The place is very clean and we'll kept. The staff treats the dogs like their own. My newest puppy JJ goes to daycare three days a week and we have boarded him multiple times. For example he is allergic to cats so Val and the staff make sure he is no where around cats and give him his meds without missing a step. The kennels are always very clean. I just can't say enough about how wonderful they are. With my husband deployed it is so great they are there and I know I can count on them when times get really busy or even something like the weather is bad and JJ has pent up energy to play off. This past week I went to see my husband and boarded JJ for five nights and this was the longest so far as he is a one year old pup. When I picked him up of course he was excited to see me, but also just loved being there with any of the staff. I would highly recommend them you can trust them with your dog s life.

I stopped in for a coat for my new pup. The girl running the shop was very busy but tried to help. There was pee on the floor in a few spots and it smelled bad. I didn’t like how the pups were stacked in crates. I doing think I’d ever feel comfortable boarding or leaving my girl there but it’s a cute tiny shop with puppy decor. Not much of a selection of toys but we did buy a cute rainbow bone.

My pups love coming here! Whenever I leave town for a day or two and have to kennel my dogs, they come to Pampered Pooch. I have a Husky & GSD and they’re always very well taken care of and enjoy playing with the other dogs there.

We moved to Altoona over two years ago and wanted to take our husky to daycare. Pampered Pooch as quickly became his favorite place to go. Val does a great job and is always quick to reply to emails. We highly recommended Pampered Pooch.

When looking around for dog boarding places around Altoona so we didn’t have to travel too far, we found Pampered Pooch and it sounded very promising. I’ll walk you through my thoughts as I read through their website. First, it mentions this place isn’t like others because they have bigger kennels so your pup won’t be crammed the whole time you’re away... which we have two smaller pups who will be kenneled together so we thought that’d be perfect for them. Second, the rates were well into our budget which was another plus. Third, the site mentioned to bring their own food as they don’t like to change their diet which was good for us since our pups are picky. Lastly, the website assures you they have toys, treats and blankets for all your pups and really don’t have to worry about bringing your own. I liked that but knowing my pups I brought a blanket just to have our home scent on it as one of our pups has anxiety.Anyway, my experience. We were going on a short weekend trip - just a couple days - and decided to go here. We brought a bag full of their food and a blanket to throw in the kennel with them. We have a Yorkie-Poo and a Morkie. The Yorkie-Poo is dog aggressive but loves other humans and our Morkie. Our Morkie is anxiety ridden hence the blanket that smells like home. The lady that checked us in was very nice and made it seem like that was no big deal for either of them. This time around I didn’t really look in the windows at the kennels or anything but noticed it smelled bad inside. I shook it off and kissed our pups good bye. We came to pick them up and the same Lady had them running through a bunch of other dogs in which I said not to because of our Yorkie-Poo not liking other dogs.. apparently they forgot. Then I paid and grabbed the pups. Both dogs smelled of the kennel which I initially stated smelled really bad inside. When I lifted my Yorkie-Poo, the underside of him was all greasy/dried with pee. So.. it makes me think.. how long had he been laying in his pee? Was he ever let out? Why was his stomach full of pee? I unpacked the bag when we got home and everything inside stunk so bad and the whole baggie of food was gone. I KNOW our dogs did not eat all that. Wasn’t happy but we had the next weekend already booked and I’m one to give places and people second chances. This weekend I the same two boarded for just two nights again. On drop off, there was another lady and I told her about our experience last time. She has a dramatic “awww” and said sorry about that. I reminded her about my Yorkie-Poo being aggressive and she said okay. We just picked them up today after two days and we waited outside while there was someone inside getting their dog. I looked in the window this time at the kennels and they were all rusted, dirty, the blankets had holes, were dirty and very dingy looking. I didn’t see any toys or anything laying around. We got inside and the lady went and got our backpack we had stuff in when dropped off and she handed us a plastic bag with a blanket that was clearly wet with what I can assume was pee and said sorry I didn’t have time to wash this. I said that wasn’t our blanket and she took it back. Then she went to get our pups and they weren’t on leashes (which they were dropped off with) and amongst other dogs which I reminded them AGAIN this time my Yorkie-Poo can’t be around other dogs. We luckily got away with no incidents but still. I get home to unpack the backpack and pulled out the blanket I left for our little Morkie and 1) it was perfectly folded like I had folded it initially meaning they never took it out and also it smelled so bad. Also inside the bag was our full baggie of food and some was spilled in the bottom of our backpack. Also there were 3 bags of treats that belonged to someone else.I just can’t with this place. Don’t believe me? Go there and just look in the windows or even stick your head inside the door. You’ll change your mind quick.

This was my first grooming experience with my german shepherd. He came home with open sores all over his back and after going to the vet, he was put on antibiotics. It's really unfortunate that this had to be his first grooming experience. Even the slightest touch on his back had him jerking away. Very disappointed- will not be returning.

The groomer that grooms our two white Schnausers does an awesome job. They charge a little more for combing out snarled hair, but that’s our fault for not doing it more often at home. Very pleased with their work. And the price is right.

We took our old English bulldog here to stay for a 2 night trip. I explained to them that he has joint issues and needed an orthopedic bed - I was assured they had plenty available. When we picked him up he was in a fenced area at the store front with nothing but a flannel blanket. After picking him up he had a runny nose, red eyes, and a limp. Needless to say we have dealt with nothing but health issues since! 2 vet visits one for kennel cough and one for an eye infection/limp. Not to mention our dog slept for 3 days straight - probably from exhaustion of not being able to sleep. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!

I called this business to see if they had any openings for a bath and nail trimming appointment (no haircut). The person I talked to said that they probably had something open for the weekend and asked what kind of dog I had. I replied that I had a German Shepherd. She then said, "Oh, that's a lot of hair". After a moment she stated that they were pretty booked up this weekend. After this interaction I am happy to take my business elsewhere. In the background there were dogs barking insistently as well.

I took my new to me 5 year old german shepard there to board for 10 days then had them give her bath and nail trim (30$ for the bath/trim). 1st off they didn't trim her nails. I called them and just said sorry. They thought they did. 2nd had to take her to vet bc when she came back bc she wimpered when we rubbed her back and was super itchy. She ended up with a skin infection due to grooming. When she was groomed groomer rubbed her skin raw. Caused sores and got infected. I called them to tell them and they told me they didn't see how that was possible. They were rude. Very short with me. Didn't offer me a refund a just told me they would tell the groomer. Very dissatisfied and i will never take her back. Not worth the 18$ a night to board and 30$ for bath and nail trim which she never gor. I'd rather pay a few bucks more a night and know she is cared for properly.

Had a dissapointing issue, we won't be back. It is a long way from home to go for grooming and our groomer took the day off. We booked our appointment 5 weeks after grooming. They said rebook now for three dollars off next grooming. Very upset, poor customer service!

I love pampered pooch. They are so good with my puppy. Pampered pooch is the only groomer my pup has been to. They offer prescheduling and give a discount if preschedule. Prices are fair and affordable.
