I wish I could give zero stars! Their policy on bringing mowers back is terrible! They won’t take them back if they’ve had gas in them. Well how is the customer supposed to know we got a bad mower if we don’t put the gas in it to try it?? They leave it to the customer to take it a service center to fix it when that shouldn’t be the customers responsibility. We don’t know we’re getting a bad mower until it’s too late. It should be Menards responsibility to get it to a repair shop. Menards is the one who sold a bad mower. Don’t buy a mower from Menards❗️❗️

Great place been shopping at Menards for years. I gave Menards 4 stars cause we ordered a gas stove and deep freezer, we paid to have the gas stove delivered in the house the deep freezer we did not, since I was going to put the deep freezer on my screened in porch, I thought the guy would bring it into my screened in porch since it’s actually in the house. he wanted $20 to walk the deep freezer 6 feet into the screened in porch. I would not ever have anything delivered from Menards ever again, there delivery process sucks. It took me and my dad less then 30 seconds to bring the deep freezer in and I saved $20. Save money and deliver your stuff your self. We paid $100 for delivery

We have a goal to start a small backyard garden this year and came in to get the lumber needed to make 2 4x4 ft raised planter boxes. We were able to order what we needed at the back counter and then went around the building to the self service lumber. We were really confused how to find our items and a little intimidated by the self service saw, but Paco found us and grabbed what we needed on his forklift, then cut the lumber for us. All we had to do was load into our small suv. We tried to leave a cash tip but he wouldn't take it. This was a huge time saver to us when we were in a rush and I am very impressed. Thank you paco!!!

The two men in plumbing were very helpful, but the older lady working the outside (garden center) checkout was very rude. I'm so tired of going to businesses, and I'm being polite and respectful to the employees, but the employees are very rude and treat you like they're doing you a favor by doing their job and helping you out. This person was exactly like that—otherwise, it's a nice store.

We get a lot of our supplies from them since we do construction. Their qualityof some of the supplies has gone down. You have to check all wood for bowing. The last rolls of coil had wrinkles in them. Siding was smashed where they had straps wrapped around the boxes. Their aluminum starter strip has changed, it was bowed also, to put up you had to nail in middle and cut to get the bowing out.

Very busy. If you go on a Saturday, watch for people and cars.In the store, I got everything I needed. The wait time in checkout was quick. Checker doubled bagged my merchandise without me requesting, which was nice as it was heavy. I love the one rebate for all merchandise. That saves lots of time.Propane gas prices are nearly the same as last year, but I didn't check to see if they reduced amount.

Why are the cart collectors pushing a row of carts between parked cars? This should not be allowed. If employees are going to push carts in the parking lot they should be down the aisles only not between Park cars where scratches and dents can happen. It's a good thing I haven't gone in yet so now I can take my money elsewhere today.

Ordered furniture that showed available to be shipped on website. Promptly received text that furniture wasn't available. I appreciate that employee for prompt response. Otherwise furniture ordering on this company is terrible.

Most of the employees were extremely helpful until we got to looking for a storm door. Hunter acted like we were annoying him with our questions with every loud exaggerated sigh and eye roll before answering a question. Then, after finally getting an answer, he tells us the door we wanted wasn’t at this location and we had to drive to Ankeny to get it. I don’t know if he just wasn't having a good day or what but it was an extremely unpleasant experience.

Excellent service was received today by Troy, at the Altoona Menards! He quickly helped us find a prestocked cabinet that fit the dimensions that we needed. Also, he quickly helped locate all of the needed accessories. He saved us a lot of time with his knowledge of the options available. Greatly appreciated!!!

Returned a faucet purchased online, package still all in tact, was reluctant to take it back since it was ordered online and then deducted a $35 re-stock fee. Customer Service manager was rude and acted like they never take back anything purchased online…beware

They have everything you could possibly want they price it up a little bit more than other places and they offer you 11% discount on everything the trick is you have to mail it in... when you're on the road you don't carry envelopes and stamps to me it's a big farce... SO REALLY NO DISCOUNT

Very disappointed... We asked for help locating an item the 1st guy pointed out the direction where the item can be located. I asked him if he can take us to it since we had just came from that direction & he didn't care to do so but he did then said the young lady named Natalee would assist us since that was her depth. Ohhh man talk about being RUDE!! WTH it's not like she wasn't being paid! We are there to purchase an item & we're going to pay a lot of $$$ for it. All we asked was for a little assistance with locating it. She refused & her face expression said it all!! My husband got fed up with her attitude that we ended up going to Lowes. My husband said it would be the last time we go to Menards. I really suggest that they provide special training on customer care for these young people who think we need to beg them for assistance!!

This Menards is well-stocked; it's an excellent resource for the area. Update 9/22: the more I go to Menards, the more I like it. Lately I have been using the Menards app to find where specific items are. It saves time, and oddly enough sometimes I take a different route to get there than my typical search pattern, and as a result walk through aisles I haven't walked before, and discover other items I may make use of some day. Love this store!

My husband and I went to the yard to pick up lumber and couldn’t get any assistance. The boards we were needing help with are 10’ up. He found a yard guy named Paco that offered zero assistance to help. So I asked after having to scale the shelves to pull a board out. Still no help but got a whole bunch of attitude. Guess it’s Lowes or Depot from now on. At least they want your business and will help you.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. They helped me find the wing nut I need super quickly and the checkout was nice and set up for COVID safety. I'll definitely come here again next time I'm in Iowa and need something. Also probably the cleanest and best lit Menards I've been to. Great store.

Went in tonight to buy a fridge; it had a slight dent in it when I got home. I called them and the gentleman working in the appliance area was very helpful and refunded me $100 after talking with his management.

Why was Leslie so rude today? I had to return an item to the southside store and they did not have the same item in stock. I was told to pick up the item at Altoona where I met Leslie who was not helpful and smart-mouthed. I showed her my receipt and that I paid $259 at the southside store. It was $269 in Altoona. I asked her if she could price match the southside store and she said, "No our price is our price. If it was marked differently, then that's the southsides fault." Very rudely she stated this. So I ended up paying the $269. Not worth the fight with a young kid. Price matches between stores should be automatic, especially if you have the receipt. Yes, it was only $10 but still. Customer service is key and there was none today in Altoona. DONT SHOP AT THIS MENARDS or you will have a power struggle with Leslie. I was not able to upload my receipts and the difference of price but if someone reaches out, I'll be glad to share.

Since we were there during a bag sale some things were sold out. I had a few times my cart got stuck on trash on the floor but overall a good experience. Cashier wasn't really "with it" and forgot to charge for one item and put our coupon on the transaction so I reminded her. Found lots of good deals and brought home quite a bit!

Wow....so disappointing. Went in for a couple cement board trim boards, ordered at the counter and paid, all went fine. Entered the yard for pick up, the guard no longer lets you in, but instead you scan your ticket for entrance. However, no indication on ticket, no map provided or no help from scanner where to find your items. After driving thru all areas where it made sense, but still couldn’t find, headed back to guard shack. He sent us off to the wrong location....back again at guard shack so he calls for assistance from an employee. 15 min later, still no help. Back into the store for a refund....and now we’re at Lowe’s where they actually help you. In and out in less than 10 minutes. Save big money at Menards.?.

Was there today and no one knows how to give me a quick connect for a air hose and a stucco sprayer. I personally think they would be more trained to assist folks after being at one department and then told to go to plumbing where that person wasn't able to assist me. I went back to where I was at and a lady tried her best but upon getting home it wasn't the right thing I needed. Ugh.
