Love altoona faraway. The meat department is outstanding. Always fresh variety of beef, fish, pork, poultry and other meat product's. There's a good selection of seafood. Faraway also offer grill or griddle ready food too. The produce department is well organized and the displays are neat and clean. I recommend this grocers for all yoru neeeds.

Love this grocery store. Friendliest staff in world. Hailey is super friendly and always a pleasure to talk to when checking out. Having you bags taken out to your vehicle is also a nice touch too that feels very personable and makes you feel more than just a customer, even though my dogs aren't a big fan of this part...😆

I have patronized this specific location for many years & will continue. The management & service you receive from store employees has been nothing short of exceptional! The store is continually clean, well stocked, great displays of fresh produce & meat & always organized. The employees are pleasant & helpful in every way. Every department has a wide selection of choices. If you can't find what you need, share it with them & chances are they can & will special order it from the warehouse for you if it's available. If you haven't experienced a visit to this location, I highly encourage you visit. Their staff is exceptional & they strive to keep you coming back each time!

I went into the store specifically for a wine that was featured at the craft show. Fareway stated they carried the wine and if they didn’t they could order it in and the vendor that owns the winery stated they could get it on the shelf. They didn’t have it (no biggie). Manager got my name and number and I requested a certain wine from a local brand they carry and “support” in their store. Received a voicemail today that they won’t order any more because it’s not worth it since they don’t make enough money from it. Extremely greedy that they won’t support a local business and would rather lose a customer (which in turn gives them money). Rave to wall to wall wine and spirts in West Des Moines for carrying the specific wine in the brand and ordering more so I will make the drive for good customer service.

It’s a nice store and friendly staff, I just wished that when they tell you that something is coming in stock and you go on that day, I wished that the items were there and then they keep saying the same thing and then the item is never there ??

Our checkout employee was nice and patient. Both employees at the meat counter were helpful and friendly. One of the employees sliced up some meat for us, which was nice. Most Fareway's do not carry the brand of pizza I eat; however, the Assistant Manager said he'd check to see if the store could order the specific brand of pizza and if he's able to order it he stated he would...that would be nice. Worth checking out this store for your grocery needs. Friendly and helpful staff. Follow-up posting: meat counter staff friendly and helpful. This store still does not carry the brand of pizza I eat but still a nice store.

Love this location wayyyyy better than Pleasanthill. Staff very pleasant at meat department. The manager even went out and found meSpanish rice and brought it to me as I couldn't find it. Hats off to Meat Department .Keep up the amazing job. Also elder lady back there pays attention when you come up to the counter

Growing up, Fareway meat dept was nothing but perfect. I got some stuffed pork chops from them today and wow… never experience such a terribly seasoned and chewy cut of pork in my life. Got it for my anniversary, too, so I definitely won’t be going back.

Now if it was for the quality meat counter it would be 5 stars. I like this store in Altoona because I can get boneless skinless chicken breasts at the meat counter. Today I purchased their own ground beef for 2.99 a pound.They don't always have the unique things I like to buy. There produce is alright but I buy that somewhere else. I am a loyal meat customer and Fareway will always be on my weekly grocery stops.

Like Fareway but tonight customer service was non existent. The cashier and the person sacking groceries didn't say squat to me. Acted like I was bothering them. OK if you hate your job so much I will go elsewhere and pay someone else's salary. Also the Nathan cheese hot dogs were raised a $1. What the hell? $5.99 for these. I can get them at Hy Vee for what you used to charge. Keep raising prices and I won't bother shopping here anymore. You do have great meat though.

I have shopped at the Fareway store in Altoona, sense they opened.In the last few years, I am having a hard time justifying, continuing the habit.The produce and fruit is a mess. If it's on sale it's rottenI have set, Eggplant aside because it's brown.

The store is always very clean and well organized! It is big enough to to have everything that I need in a grocery store and small enough that it doesn't feel like a metropolis.The staff is always helpful and courteous.A great store!!

Fareway is the best grocery store in our area. They have low prices, usually automatically match competitor's prices, and have the best meat counter available. Their meat is fresh and tastes great. They have very courteous employees, and they even take your groceries to your vehicle for you. They are closed on Sunday and on major Holidays, which lets you know that they care about their employees. I highly recommend this grocery store.

The service appears to be above average until your faced with having to purchase something at the meat counter. I waited 10 minutes while the only other customer there was being waited on with 3 employees working behind the counter. When they finished with her another customer walked up and they helped him but continued to ignore me. I could easily understand if they were busy but this was just plain rude. I walked away and went to the checkouts to pay for whatever was in my cart and left the store and will not return. They just lost at least $4k/yr in revenue and gave it to HyVee.

This is a great small chain grocery store. Some of the same traditions we used to have in grocery stores are present such as baggers and carryout service. The in-store meat counter offers great meats at fair prices and top notch service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Small town feel to the store. According to their website, they are a top 10 employer in the state of Iowa.

My favorite grocery store. It's always clean and organized.The prices are comparable, a its higher than Walmart but worth the difference for a clean store and fewer people.The meat is the best around so it's a win-win.

They have good customer service and a friendly environment. The meat counter is good. If their meat isn't on sale its usually more expensive the the other grocery stores. Its smaller than the other stores in town but holds a lot of variety of products. I really like their selection of asian and latin foods. All in all its a great store

I like almost everything at Fareway. But I don't / won't buy any fish or seafood because it comes from China or other Asian locations. These areas don't have a good production and inspection record. I can find USA fish products at Hi Vee so I buy it from there.Fareway is very proud of meat sold at the store. I can trust it and I buy a lot. It is a USA productIf Fareway ever put a sign on the meat counter that it came from China I think the customers would run out of the store. I would.Bob

Now this Altoona location, somehow has never heard that you can get SLICED WHITE AMERICAN CHEESE sold to you by the pound? I have been buying this many, many times at the Clive Iowa location. Maybe the guys at the Meat counter just need more customer service training?

I like the meat counter. I do not like that they have added self service lines. If you want me to do it myself them give me a self-service discount. Overall it is still my go to place.
