Stopped by for dinner, absolutely excellent. The burgers on the menu are "Award winning". Upon asking for clarification on what that meant (making sure it was an award with merit, and it was, an Iowa wide burger contest), I ordered the Kickin Bourbon burger with home made fries, and I was NOT disappointed, it earned my award of deliciousness. Our waitress was fantastic, polite, attentive, friendly, and above all knowledgeable! After dinner we ordered an Oreo milkshake, which was equally good! The restrooms were unique, with a beer keg turned into a urinal! Only disappointment...they didn't have Chuckwagon shirts for sale. Will definitely return in the future to get another great meal, and hopefully a T-shirt.

Stopped here to try the tenderloin and was not disappointed. It was amazing! Best that I have had in a very very long time. Hand breaded deliciousness. I ordered the fries as my side and they were also fantastic. Smaller cut but not shoe string size, fried nice and crispy and full of flavor! Service was great. Everything was clean including the bathroom. I will definitely stop here again when I go this direction!

Great stop off I80! Relaxing atmosphere, very clean place, sat us down and we had our food pretty quickly! Bathrooms are very clean also. My husband said his tenderloin ($14) was the best one he's ever eaten (he eats them a lot) and my philly steak ($15) was very good. Prices were reasonable considering the amount of food received. My only complaint is that the fountain soda was $5. That seems unreasonably high to me for 16oz of drink. I'll get water next time.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to get in but you go through 2 doorways which might be a pain. They are wide enough. There is also a curb to navigate to the front door, I did not notice where the cutout is for wheelchair access but I'm sure it's there somewhere.

Once I heard The Chuckwagon was nominated for Iowa's Best Burger 2024, I had to try it. I ordered the Chuckwagon burger with fries. The burger was perfectly cooked and offered a literal flavor explosion on the first bite! The fries were seasoned and definitely an awesome addition to the meal. The thing that sets The Chuckwagon apart from any other Iowa's Best Burger 2024 nominee would have to be their superior service! The restaurant was absolutely packed at lunch today and I could not imagine any better service. Salli and all other staff handled the rush very well. I was in and out and back on the road within 30 minutes. Thanks again for having me, I will be returning.

We have eaten here before and the return trip was the same very tasty! All the people that work here are super friendly and helpful. The sandwich my wife and I had was delicious. Our waitress was hilarious and very sweet. We definitely recommend a stop here and be prepared for a good meal.Kid-friendliness: Seems like a great place for a family dinner .

Must stop for a burger. Won best burger in the state in 2016, and has been in the running pretty much every year since. Breakfast isn’t the best, but you can ask for a lunch menu and they will make you anything you want at 8:00am. Our group of graveyard shift factory employees frequent the place and have beers and burgers Friday mornings.

We were traveling back Wisconsin to Colorado and were tired of fast food chains. We got lucky enough to stumble on this gem and will definitely make this a regular stop on our trips from now on. The food was amazing, the waitress (Amanda S.) was extremely helpful on helping us make choices, (the black and bleu burger, rueben and steak fries were fabulous) the restaurant was cute and clean and the little candles that you can buy was an added bonus!

Very good food. I ordered the Jessie James which is quite possibly the messiest burger I’ve ever eaten. It was excellent and came out fast. This area is pretty much just a restaurant and a gas station, but if you’re in the area you should give it a try.

What a great restaurant! It was suggested to us to stop for lunch and we are glad we did! The staff was professional, friendly and efficient. The food was tasty! The tater tots were crispy and the homemade fries delicious. Bonus they also gave a cute selection of gifts a lot of them being made in Iowa or Wisconsin.

Great food, friendly staff and we loved the decor! Large portions and home style cooking.COVID-19 note: not requiring face coverings and staff isn’t wearing them, aren’t socially distancing customers. If safety is important might want to find a different restaurant. We had our masks on but weren’t overly comfortable while eating.

SO good! The staff there were super friendly. The food was out really fast and it all tasted so good. I got the Brisket Mac and Cheese and would have it again for sure. Hubs had the bone-in pork chop and loved it as well. I don’t typically get excited about tater tots but I tried one and they were crispy with good flavor. Even the bathrooms felt clean and welcoming!

This place really has it all. The perfect destination to split up an otherwise long boring road trip. The food is superb, you can really tell it's all home made. The burgers they are so well known for are fresh and perfectly cooked. The server is friendly and fast. Always on top of our needs without being overbearing. And finally the atmosphere is consistent and fun. Every bit of decor is purposeful and provides the feeling of a warm dinner that would make any traveler feel homesick.I implore you to stop here whenever you have the change!PS: they do have bendy straws with all drinks and they can be used to make self starting siphons in your drink glass.

We stopped for breakfast on our way to Des Moines after reading all the different good reviews. It was outstanding! They have a full menu to order from at all times of the day. I always tend to like places that let you order breakfast whenever, but this place goes above and beyond and lets you order lunch/dinner at breakfast time for those odd like me. Most of us ordered breakfast in our group, but my kids wanted chicken strips and we all wanted to try the cheeseballs at 9:30am!My meal of a bacon and cheese omelette, hash browns, and pancakes was enormous. The cinnamon rolls are huge and take up the entire plate.I can't wait to go back and try the burger and fries. The fries are endless and are homemade and I have heard how great they are.The place is also decorated nice with most of the items throughout the restaurant for sale.Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing by!

Are you looking for a classic Mom and Pop restaurant? Look no further ! Chuckwagon hits the spot ! With their classic burger menu options and the booze milkshakes this is everything I wanted out of my diner experience. The staff was exceptional. The food was perfectly greasy and filling. What a lovely stop off of Rt. 80
