Today is Friday, May 10, 2024. ICS is fundraising by selling gorgeous outdoor flowers tomorrow, too! Here's what we bought today, spectacular! Be sure to go there and buy flowers to support the kitties! Adopt a kitty while you're at it, too!😸💞

I adopted my cat, Sterling from Independent Cat Society. I got him 4 years ago as a rescue. Everyone is so welcoming and the adoption process was very thorough. They truly want their cats to go to a safe Forever Home. Such a great place to donate to.

The cats are clean and well cared for. The staff knows each personality. We adopted a pair of kittens 13 years ago. They are a joy. We stop by from time to time and visit plus bring supplies to help out.

Terrible experience! Found a cat that a neighbor left behind, decided I would bring her to the society, on the way home got heartbroken because she was such a sweetie and decided to go back to try to get her. (I own 3 cats, 2 dogs) they told me I was unsuited to handle the cat and denied me. Terrible place, won’t answer calls, blocks my numbers when I call. Don’t ever go to them

Wonderful experience, ladies there were so helpful to answer questions about the many kitty cats there. The many cats were more than glad to make my heart pitter-patter. And their eyes were so eager to meet mine, some were happy to be petted! Come check out the independent cat society!!!

So many cats! All well cared for. Ladies there are working hard to keep so many cats happy and safe. A hidden gem that needs publicity so donations can be made to help out with costs. Wish I could volunteer, but allergic to the cats.

I got my first cat from them back in the 90's. I moved 3 hours away but I still get my cats from them. I love the fact that its a non kill and they take great care of their cats. The fact that they do check ups too is great. I currently have 3 of their cats. It's been great to watch the facility grow throughout the years and seeing Paula there all these years has been great too as she is amazing.

Great cat shelter. The volunteers really care about the kitties. I'm sharing a pic of Cinder, the kitty I sponsor.

The front room is filled with cats coming into the shelter, kittens and a few older resident cats. Most of the cats are in cages with detailed notes on each. A few are in recovery or currently on medication. Most are waiting for there new home. There are a few cats who wander around as if they own the place. A lot of these beauties are in transition from one place to another. You could spend all day petting all of the cats in this room all by itself.Just like a bad commercial, but wait there's more...The back hall has many rooms coming off of it. There are a few cats. Just wondering the halls getting to see everybody. All these individual room house more cats living in luxury. There are soft beds and plenty of places for cats to snuggle up and toys everywhere. A few of these rooms have little kitty doors so they can go stretch there legs outside. The independent cats decided to try this to provide everything they would ever need. It is a little kitty paradise, while they wait on there forever home.

Many cats to choose from. Great adoption process. It's quite evident that the people care very much for all of the little residents. So if you are looking to add to your family, or if you are in need of transferring one of your own family members to the ICS, know that those who reside there are shown much love and affection.

Disappointed with a place that was near and dear to my heart. Some of the workers (or volunteers) need to be retrained on how to speak to others. I have always gotten my kitties from there and donate. I am so disappointed in the way our family was treated when we had to bring a kitty back to them due to her having major issues with the other cats in the house. They always told us and encouraged us to bring them back if there was any issues. Well, I regret ever calling them. They not only made you feel like it was your fault and that we were bad pet owners, but one specific person made my child cry. Then I tried to call and complain and my complaint was met with "you're probably just sensitive to having to drop off your cat" and "I've known that worker for 30 plus years she doesn't talk that way". I will never be recommending this place again nor updating them on my kitties I do have after this. They felt like family until this point. Sad to see others bringing down a place like this.

Cat HEAVEN!! This place is loaded with kittens and cats of all sizes, ages, breeds, colors, etc., who are all very well taken care of. Such a great selection of beautiful felines. There are different rooms for different kinds of cats. The volunteers are extremely helpful and really love their cats. All of their cats have been spayed or neutered, is up to date on their vaccinations, and most are microchipped. I spent 3 hours the just taking it all in, visiting the different rooms and, of course, playing and petting all the cats. If you find what you're looking for, which you will, you will be required to fill out an application. If approved, you can typically pick up your bundle of joy in about a week. Do not expect to take them home that day as all adoptions are meant to be forever. You can also choose to be a foster home, in which the application process is a little more detailed. They always welcome volunteers and donations, as they are a not for profit organization and the place is run solely by amazing volunteers. This is a definite must visit place if you love cats.

I haven’t been here in a very long time but this is where my family adopted our first cats. The volunteers and staff really care for the cats and the building has rooms so the cats aren’t stuck in cages. They have so many adoptable kitties and they make sure to send them to good homes. Places like this could always use donations and anything you offer helps out tremendously. I will always recommend I.C.S.!

The staff were friendly and helpful! The place is clearly a labor of love....they do what they can with what the have. It smells like they have 75 cats living inside one building, but that's because they do. Mostly grown cats, very few kittens, they won't allow them out until they've been neutered, can't help but wonder if people would be more inclined to take a young kitten vs. a cat that has spent multiple months in a shelter. I left empty handed for that reason. Again I'll say, the staff tried hard to be helpful.

Great place and customer service! They do great things for the cats and are very easy to work with. The pet adoption process is almost like applying for a job. Long application, referrals called, history needed. Kind of a pain, but we are adopting 3 kitties, so we all win!

By far one of the most unique and caring cat (animal) shelters I’ve ever been to. The cats/kittens are truly cared for. It is a no-kill shelter. And the cats are in rooms where they can play, go out onto an enclosed patio, and be free to nap in high places. Cages are only used for necessary situations. I highly recommend adopting your next fur baby here, sponsoring a cat, or volunteering. You won’t regret it.

The shelter is very cramped and messy. Some rooms had way too many cats. Smell was horrible as it is at any shelter. Some cats just wandering around. Some volunteers were super nice and others acted like we were bothering them. Filled out application told it would take a few days, but never heard back or received return phone call. Finally almost 2 weeks later received call we were approved but we had already adopted another cat from anorher shelter. They need to work on their hospitality and timing.

The employees and volunteers genuinely care about the cats. They know their personalities and quirks and use that information to help make the right match. The rooms allow you to see the cats interacting with others and keep them more relaxed so you get a better insight as to the cats personality before you choose. I highly recommend ICS if you are looking for a furry friend.

The staff there is the most wonderful people I have ever met, and there is no doubt they love all of the cats and want them to have their forever homes. I am so happy I found them and I am going to adopt an adorable kitty.

It is always nice to visit ICS. The cats are well-cared-for and you can see how much effort is put into getting them comfortable socializing with people. We stop by a couple times a year to drop off donations.

This place is wonderful! And I adopted my babies from there over 10 years ago. Ariel and Gandalf are healthy as can be and are doing very well. And YES you should never declaw a cat! Sorry to the reviewer with an issue with that. But that is simply like cutting a human finger off where a fingernail begins to grow... Now that is sickening and disturbing enough. Yes the Independent Cat Society may smell a bit like cat litter, but then again cats live there!!! The staff may be a little on the territorial side because they take pride in the rescue and well being of there residents... Also, I may add that many of the workers there are on borrowed time. They mostly take help from volunteers. I fully support this facility and what they stand for all the way from my home in North Carolina... Keep up the good work with all that you do ICS family!!!!
