Been taking my Pomeranian to the Valparaiso location since my family relocated to Valpo. First there was a mix up in scheduling that forced me to take my dog to the Hobart location. Which was ok as the manager gave me a discount for the mix up. Then today I take my dog in and him being a small dog they are naturally kind of feisty. They call me ten min after dropping him off to come pick him up because the groomer didn’t feel “comfortable” cutting him. I offered to bring in our muzzle to make her feel more “comfortable”. She stated that wasn’t something she did. I’m sorry I assumed your profession entailed finding ways to cut the animals hair. Of course it was a newer groomer. Everytime we bring our dog it is a different and newer groomer. Never again. Very unprofessional.

Excellent customer service!I have a Havanese puppy and have found most everything I need at Hungry Hound.I stop in there every weekend.The employees are very knowledgeable, kind and always helpful!Chloe had her first grooming appointment at HHB and she looked amazingly adorable!

After moving to downtown Valpo we were excited to have such a nice pet shop in walking distance to our home. We brought our Shih tzu Charlie in to be groomed and they did a great job. The next time a new, inexperienced groomer groomed him and ended up severely clipping his back leg. They did not even inform us that it had happened. We noticed our dog in discomfort later that night and saw the laceration. We took him to the vet and he was put on two antibiotics. We called Hungry Hound and talked to the manager Mackenzie. He apologized and gave us 1/2 off our next grooming appointment. Unfortunately the laceration did not completely heal the first time and we had to bring him back to the vet a second time with another round of antibiotics. We called Hungry Hound and asked to speak to the owner about some type of compensation for the vet bills but the owner, Shelly, has yet to return our call. That shows us they do not care at all about our dog Charlie or our situation. Such a disappointment we will not be back.

I Took my corgi here to get a haircut and they did it all! I was so happy with the results I was shocked at how amazing she came out and sand so beautiful she looked right after! They did exactly what we wanted and I am so happy with the results it's definitely worth the money for sure to take your dog here or pets in general they do an amazing job and are so friendly as well! My corgi came home so happy and refreshed ☺ she got a bath, nail trimmed, ear cleaning, hair trimmed up, teeth cleaned for an extra $10 but in total I spent $70 which is well worth it I've spent less elsewhere but she didn't look this good 😊 thank you so much again hungry hound definitely will be going back !

We are animals parents! We love all of our family fur members. We did take our babies to Pet Smart to get all of their grooming done. We witnessed a few things and will never take them back. We have been going to the HH on Merrillville but couldn’t get an appointment for six weeks. So we don’t live that far from Valparaiso so we decided to try your store. We had the most pleasant experience at your store our fur baby Bella was treated great and she looked even better. You have a life long customer with the DeBusk family. We do recommend using this store if you love your baby just like we do. Great staff and groomersThank youDon DeBusk

I have taken my dog a few places and I wasn’t very happy until now! Hungry hound is the place to take your fur babies! This place is AMAZING!!!! Seems to me that it’s fur baby approved as well. My mini golden doodle seemed very happy as well.

Laura did an absolute amazing job with my puppy Gemma. Gemma is a ridiculously high energy pup with an unusual coat (Malamute/mini poodle mix.) We asked for a Mohawk and I am so excited to say Laura delivered. Gemma came out beautifully clean, with a Mohawk and so happy. I can't thank you enough and can't wait to take her back. The wonderful people at the counter were so friendly, personable and truly lovely. We had great communication when dropping off, needing to extend the time and during pick up. Again I can't thank you all enough. After trying 3 different groomers I can honestly say I think we found the perfect fit

Took great care of our black labs grooming needs. Appreciated the "2pm they will be ready for pick up" rare in other saloons with 2 dogs for an exact time estimate. Post grooming naps. We are full time RVers. Loved the great service.

I recently took my lab here for a bath and a clean up. The staff was so professional and punctual and showed my dog a lot of patience, care and professionalism. They had such reasonable prices and when I went to check out, they gave me the most generous goodie bag filled with a plethora of products geared towards my lab. It was thoughtful and I will definitely be returning here. The entire staff had a great attitude and made me feel welcome. It’s nice to have Hungry Hound Boutique in our downtown!

I took 2 of my dogs to Hungry Hound a few months back to both get groomed. I was pleased with the grooming experience that was provided to one of my dogs. When I arrived for pick up I was informed that one of my two dogs was not groomed due to him acting out, which I understood. However, your business proceeded to charge me for a very expensive bath and did not inform me my dog was giving them trouble or even give me the option to just come back and pick him up. I would have appreciated that communicated to me by a quick phone call instead of showing up to pick up my dogs with a surprise and paying for an almost $40-50 bath. I’m not sure I will be back.

Stopped here while shopping downtown Valparaiso. The shop is perfectly located near quite a few stores and near some restaurants. It's a very cute dog boutique! They have biscuits, frosted cookies, dog food, bandanas, harnesses, collars, and other pet related items that were reasonably priced. The groomers is located in the back of the store. Saw a few cute dogs wondering the store.I picked out some long rawhides and a cute daisy cookie for my dog, which she loved!. I also signed up for their rewards program. They send out an email that has all the deals and events happening that week/during the month.

Took our 2 year old Australian Shepard for the first time to get groom. Staff all super friendly and professional. Our dog looked and felt fabulous afterwards. Definitely will go back.

Very clean and very organized place. I came here to get my dog's nails trimmed and they filed them also, a little cheaper than healthi paws and the atmosphere in my opinion is superior. The man at the counter was very nice and personable and answered any questions I had and the groomers were very nice as well. The treats here are one of a kind and they even have some rare treats as well. Their clothes and leashes are super adorable definitely a good place to go to spoil your dogs

It was my first time coming into the store for grooming although I have passed it in downtown Valparaiso many times. The store is very clean, and the items they sell are adorable. I was greeted by Matthew at the front counter and checked in for my grooming appointment for my 12 week old Malshi. Matthew was so kind with her and you could tell they loved the animals they were caring for. I was able to drop her off a little early and Laura did her cut. My puppy smelt so good after her appointment, and they did such a great job cleaning and cutting the way I had requested. Also, the price was great. We will be returning for sure!

Took my two St. Bernard’s, Ariel and Sebastian.. although they’re fairly rowdy being puppies, the hungry hound employees were very kind and understanding. After everything was said and done my pups looked and smelled great and it seemed like they enjoyed it! I love that they give you the option to receive text messages about your grooming appointment.

I am very happy with how Ella came out. They did a wonderful job. Ella is very shy when she usually goes to the groomer, always wanting to stay by me. She sensed the wonderful atmosphere and people, she went right with them without looking back. Dogs have a great sense of things. I will definitely be back

Took our puppy there to be bathed, with a full haircut. Booked our appointment and they had us come back 2 hrs later which is common. When we picked our dog up he was full of hair and it fell off all over my son. So clearly not cleaned up well. Our dog is hypoallergenic and doesn't shed. He did not smell clean at all. I had to take him home and was him after spending double the price of other groomers. I tried to communicate with another staff member and they didn't even respond. We won't be back with the lack of communication and poor service.

I usually just bring my GSD for a nail trim every 2 weeks with Merissa (I’m probably butchering her name, SORRY!) but he was due for a deshedding treatment & a good bath. I requested her. She is absolutely WONDERFUL with him. I’m always nervous to leave him with anyone but you always know it’s a good time when your pup goes back before you leave to give some goodbye lovins’! Thanks to all who make my pup feel comfortable while we’re there (& giving this fur mama some peace of mind) & the price is spot on!Oh! & I had a few specifications & she did exactly what I wanted! He looks amazing & I know he must feel much better(:Thanks Hungry Hound!

The place is very clean and has alot of choices in treats, food and etc. The girl who checks you in in the front was absolutely delightful. Very nice, went over and beyond being helpful. The groomer came out, introduced herself, very nice and I was pleased at the way she treated my dog. When I came back to get my dog groomer brought her out and wanted to know if I was pleased. She did a very good job. I would have given a 5 star but felt the place was outstanding but a bit pricey. Yes, I will return.

I was a first-timer taking our dog to a professional place just to get bathed and nails trimmed bc we’ve always just done it ourselves. Life has been busy lately, so I wanted our 8-year old boxer mix, Aela, to feel a little pampered. The place was super clean and very nice! My dog looked great/smelled amazing, and staff was very friendly! Aela is a very happy dog today!!! We would definitely recommend Hungry Hound!!

As new puppy owners we weren’t aware, and we weren’t told over the phone, that puppies only get trims. Dropped our timid dog off to two other barkers in the back, so she was already skittish. At that point we were told she’d get a bath and trim, but at a reduced price.Picked her up a couple hours later to see she didn’t really have anything done - more uneven than anything. We kind of left dumbfounded with our obviously shaken dog and headed home. On the way home the pup was traumatized and wouldn’t even look at my wife.She got home and calmed down then started playing in our living room at which point two of her paws started bleeding. We cleaned up her paws and the carpet and the bleeding stopped 10-15 mins later.We’ve since gone to Vale Park and had a great experience and have no plans to return to Hungry Hounds.

Going to HH for the first time with my Goldendoodle was so nerve wracking since he’s only ever been to one place before and they’re no longer grooming! Loki is almost 7 and I’m very particular about his groom. Ashley was AMAZING and explained everything she was planning on doing where it would go and all that. Everyone there went out of their way to make Loki comfortable because they saw he was so nervous! I am so happy with his results and everyone involved. I’ll definitely be back soon!
