Friendly neighborhood butcher. They greet with a smile, and you can tell the employees genuinely like working there.The meat here is fantastic at decent prices and the frozen meals and soups are amazing. Don't pass up this place, you'll be missing out.

“Jenny” if that’s even her name has terrible customer service and made me feel extremely uncomfortable when I called in. When I tried placing a pickup order over the phone she started questioning me asking me why I can’t just come into the store to pay with cash or card instead of pay over the phone for a pickup order. Extremely rude.I asked to speak with someone else. Was put on hold and then transferred to another lady (didn’t get her name) after telling me they take a 4% fee for paying over the phone, they wanted to take my credit card info without telling me what my total would be first. She told me she didn’t have time to get my total for 2 steaks and 2 sweet potatoes. I said if you’re that busy, can you get my total together and then call me back? Lady said “sure!” That was at 4:45ish pm. We’ll see if I even get a call back. ***UPDATE: it’s 5:20 pm and they close at 6:00pm.*** No call back.Didn’t think I had to explain to a company I’m paying $20 per pound of a steak to WHY AND HOW I want to pay. Horrendous experience.There are plenty of local grass fed farmers who would be HAPPY to take my money. Think we’ll go elsewhere from now on. This is the last time I’ll deal with nasty front desk women.

I stopped in per a request from a client. I look and look and look for a number to draw, finally get up the courage to interrupt an employee to ask. We don't have numbers here...so I look around at the 6-8 people in the store and I guess it's up to me to know who's turn it is, who's already ordered and who's just standing, waiting. Of course I JEST! Who expects that?

Love this place!!! Best meats around, staff is always friendly. Been getting our Thanksgiving and Christmas hams and turkeys here for years. Their prime filet mignon is amazing, just ask for it and they will cut it from the back for you to the size/weight you want. We love the 8oz ones with their double baked potatoes.

We decided to check out the frozen meals. We tried the meatloaf, beef and noodles, stuffed green peppers, chicken and noodles, and the pulled pork. We were hoping that we could buy these items on a regular basis and to try some other items because we are cooking our own food less and less. Age thing.What we discovered is that while we liked the taste of most of the items, every single one was very heavy on the pepper added. So we will have to look elsewhere for these kind of meals.The meat we buy there is the best.

Such a great wide variety of freshly ground meats/sausages; deli cheeses and meats; frozen entrees, soups, fish...there's just too many to list them all! The staff is always so welcoming and friendly too...many of them I've seen for 30+ years! Absolutely LOVE this place!

Great selection of meats, cheeses and the like! However, customer service could take a refresher course. Not sure why but every time I come with my children I’m given scouls and rude spoken tone. Miss the portage location!

Prices are expensive. Quality looks awesome and staff is very fast, efficient, friendly, and professional. Hopefully, we’ll be back after grilling and trying out their fresh cut steaks.

We got a very good fresh turkey this year and the smoked polish sausage from Chicago, Illinois that you had was to die for. Can you please tell me the name brand on that because weve never had anything that good before. I shop here weekly and the man in the back behind the glass Always smiles at me !!!!! It actually makes my day :)

Their fresh giant chicken wings are Amazing, so juicy. We bought the potato sausage for Christmas. Oh my how delicious an the skin was so tender. Wonderful meats.

The Beef Mart in Valparaiso is Definaly worth the stop!! Everything they have to offer is Beyond Fresh and although it might be at a slightly higher price for the Quality you receive, it Can't be beat!! All the workers are very friendly and helpful and Literally Everything I have bought here has been Incredible!! Much better then going to the grocery stores!! I already know that I'm going to be a frequent customer. Thank you

Great selection of locally made entrees. Fresh beef is simply the best in the area. And breakfast burritos are something I just have to try. I mean pineapples and jalapenos ! Yes please !! Service is very fast and friendly. Can't go wrong here. Top notch!

As you walking you find a nice selection of wines, spices, condiments all very appealing. A interesting and vast selection of prepared frozen, meals and items before you even get up to the fresh meat and poultry section.If you want prepared salads, they have them ready to weigh for you. I enjoy their deli meat selections..Boars Head and Eckrich and all looking fresh and ready to slice. The staff are great. They make you feel welcome.

Favorite place locally to get high quality meat. From fresh cuts to deli meat offerings, I've never been disappointed. In the year I've been shopping here, I've only ever had 1 issue with a fresh cut of meat that was graciously replaced. Their ready-made chicken wings, meatloaf, and baked potato salad are all very good. Additionally, they have some fresh sides if you're trying to get your meal ingredients all in one place. Around holidays, their animal-themed butter sticks are always a hit. As an added bonus, they have specialty items throughout the store as well like Siete chips or St. Elmo's cocktail sauce that are always nice additions to spice up a meal.

I place a very large order 2-3 times per year. I call ahead so I do not inconvenience the customers behind me or the staff. The last two times I have called in I feel like I am a bother to the person on the other end of the phone. I live in Crown Point and have a place in Lowell, St. John, Schererville and even in town that I could give my business to but I love the quality of the ground chuck at Beef Mart. Customer Service is EVERYTHING in this crazy world we live in and I SHOULDN'T have to apologize for the way I am asking for the product to be packaged for my two 90 yr old parents.

Update . . . March 2022. Dog bones, which I know are in great demand, went up like 20% plus in price because, well, those dog bones are hard to cut. The pandemic hit everyone, but the price hikes at Beef Mart placed them out of my budget. Great people. Great Staff. Way too high on all prices. We started getting steaks at WalMart. One third less, and still great. Nothing against Beef Mart, but they priced me out of being a customer.

High high quality product. I highly recommend this place if you are trying to get the highest quality meat. in town that you cannot find at grocery stores. The staff are very friendly and the store is very clean. I def would suggest this place to anyone trying to grill or make a fancy meal.

My grandma and I have been here together a few times over the years and we would go more often if the staff was not so rude. We have never had an issue with the products but the last two occasions have made me never want to come back. This morning around 10 am we were helped by one of the ladies and she was SO RUDE. My grandma was trying to explain which roast she wanted and she looked at us like we had five heads and was easily annoyed. I then ordered beef stew meat and my grandma headed over to the other case to look. We got separated and there was only one other lady getting meats as well and she was being helped by someone else. The lady helping us was whispering to someone else and they both looked at us as if they were talking about us (very strange behaviors). She came back and asked if we wanted anything else and got mad because she didn’t realize we were together and yelled at my grandma because she couldn’t hear her. My grandma was very upset at this point and we ended up not getting the rest of the meat she wanted. We then get to check out and the lady helping us literally threw it all down and stormed off. We never acted rudely to her, the process of getting in line and being helped is confusing, and my poor grandma felt as if she was being talked about (in the car she said this was how she felt the last time). Then the cashier was just as short with us. Again this isn’t the first time this has happened to us and I know people make mistakes with their actions; but when you work with the public be a little kinder. It’s a shame because we love buying our meat here.

They can only guarantee their meat for 2 days. They gave me a refund for the rancid broccoli salad (sunflower seeds) I was trying to be discreet, bc it happens, but she was kinda condescending.

Went here today for the first time, looking for higher quality and varieties of steak. I usually buy from places like Walmart and Meijers, and needless to say I was absolutely blown away. The quality of the steaks I bought is honestly the best I've had the chance to experience, and the customer service was just the same. If you frequently cook meat, this store is a MUST.

Just stopped into beef mart after calling ahead to see if they had pickling spices and brining salt. Me and my dad are planning a venison “corned beef” recipe. They said they had the ingredients so we made the trip. Once we arrived, we asked what seemed to be the owner or manager, about the ingredients and he made us feel extremely stupid, asking us questions like, “do you even have a recipe?” And, “have you ever done anything like this before?” He was extremely rude and condescending. When we told him we were trying venison corned beef he looked at us like we had two heads. You advertise a family vibe, I guess it’s that of a family with a condescending father. So much for going into the local butcher to make small talk about cool new recipe experiments.
