One of the most beautiful campsites I've ever stayed at. Camped about 10 days. Fishing was pretty good had to fight the turtles sometimes. Bathroom facilities cleanest I've ever seen. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn't want to leave. Can't wait to come back.

We rented a cabin and it was pretty perfect, except that the fan in the bedroom didn’t work, so it got fairly warm at bedtime. We also rented Kayaks, it was VERY reasonable $126 for 4 kayaks for all day! My only complain is no map for people kayaking so try in g to find the little access and Dam was a bit annoying.Playground: Very Nice, has swings and teter tatersRestrooms: The comfort area restrooms are definitely recommended as the other restroom down by the cabins is very gross.Dog-friendliness: They do allow dogs, however, they are not allowed in the cabins

We absolutely love this place. The staff has always been knowledgeable and so friendly, the facilities are well kept and the sites are spacious. This campground also has a reputation for being calm and quiet, and thus far has never let us down. The little lake provides for the whole family. The beach is great on those hot summer days and the lake is perfect for canoeing and kayaking. We make sure that we have a waterfront spot booked at least once a year. If you enjoy camping at state parks or SRA's this place is a must.

I loved it but just wish we all had a great time plus the water in bath house and our lot got turned off so we had to wait quite a while. We tried to enjoy what we could, area is very beautiful.

Part of my New Years goal is to get one Hike in each of the next 21 days...Starve Hollow was sopping wet but it was good to see the waterline back up again. And I saw two muskrats swimming along the water's edge. Pretty cool little critters.. I'd never seen them before. The trails are pretty well marked but still a little confusing. For me at least🤪 In the summertime, this place has a nice, clean little beach.I love the sights and sounds on a winter's day! Plus there's no gate fee. Yay!

Had electric camping spot #29. Spot was fantastic, though a bit smaller than expected. Very level and was right on the lake. Well groomed and grassy with large mature trees. Right next to water and trash, though bathrooms were a bit away. Lot had 2 picnic tables and a firepit with a decent looking grill. Fantastic experience, and we will definitely be backRestrooms: Restrooms were very clean and well-maintainedDog-friendliness: Several other campers had leashed dogs

Small but lovely park. Campgrounds were very nice and well kept. The shower houses were maintained well. Lake was small but good for fishing, canoeing, wildlife pictures, and kayaking. Probably would not swim at the beach because the water was not clear enough for my preference. The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful.

What a nice place to camp! The spots right on the lake are tight on top of each other but so worth it. The beach isn’t great but that’s my only complaint. My kids wouldn’t enjoy swimming here.

Really a wonderful campground. Many of the sites are literally right on the water. And for those campers who are not on the water, there are at least two boat ramps in the campground. The lake is not huge but it is beautiful and the fish are abundant. We really found only two faults with our camping trip. The girl who checked us in didn't seem terribly eager to check and see which sites were available and instead just wanted to put us on the first site she found empty on the computer. We had never camped here before but from looking online I had a pretty good idea of which sites were on the lake so while she was apparently doing the paperwork to put us on a random site I asked if any sites from 1 to 10 were available and she reluctantly looked and said that site 6 was available, so we took it.The only other thing would be that the site numbers are not easy to find if you are accustomed to having the number on a post at the site as many state parks do.The numbers at Starve Hollow are on the electric service box which is located at the rear of the site. Not a big deal but first-timers could use a heads up.Overall, our new favorite campground!

DNR needs to start a policy about music. Most people understand camp ground edict. But some don't. Camping two spots a way and listen to other peoples music from the time they get up to the time they go to bed, is bull! There's no reason they can't move the music closer to them so they can enjoy it , and not disturb the other people around them.

It was lovely. The view of the lake from our camping spot was amazing. It rained while were were there. It was muddy and we had puddles, but we didn't get terribly flooded. (Electric Spot 67) If I had arrived there while it was raining I don't think I'd be too upset. I've seen muddier! There were plenty of trees. We were able to hang our hammock and lounger in the trees. We weren't as crowded as those who chose to camp on the water. The lake seemed overgrown, and we're not talking about the beautiful lily pads. the Vegetation could be seen on top of the water on some spots. There was better fishing to be had on kayaks and such. Otherwise if you weren't careful, you ended up with a lot of vegetation snagging your line. I think I kayaked about 3 times. That's a record for me on one camping trip. We had great ramp access from within the campground to the water. they had great access for fishing as well. We enjoyed so much of the lake and our campsite that we never made it to the trails. We were bummed that campstore was only open on the weekends, but they had a decent system for people needing the essentials: Ice, bait, and wood. We could always purchase it from the main gate as long as they were open. Controlling the vegetation in the lake and a bit cleaner/nicer comfort station is all I could ask for right now. (The status of the comfort station was at least sufficient)

This is a beautiful out of the way place to visit and camp at. My friend and I rented a cabin here for our annual hunting trip and it was great. The hunting land was easily accessible and there was plenty of wildlife to see. The topography of the area is very rugged so be prepared for some harder hikes if you’re not experienced. The cabin was also very nice and was very welcoming after a hard day of hunting and hiking.

I write this review through in reference to the hiking trails. I have been an avid hiker my entire 37 years. Was very excited to hike this beautiful piece of property for the first time this weekend. Sadly, what I experienced was by far the most neglected set of trails I have ever been on. Nearly all trails were in need of major maintenance. On top of that, the trail map in dangerously deceptive in the descriptions. For example, trail 5 is labeled as "moderate" when its by far the toughest non mountain trail I have ever been on. There are several placed where the trail has a 40-50% incline. There were several water crossings that you either couldnt cross at all or had to jump over. There are many hikers who could not take this on, but would think they could as it is labeled "moderate" when it should be labeled as "very rugged". Trail 1, which is the single access point to all the other trails was completely flooded. There was literally a creek flowing through it going into the lake. It was pretty clear this is a common occurrence but there were 0 stepping stones, board walks, or bridges. The few bridges that did exist in the park, werent in the areas they were needed most. The park must do a better job of maintaining and describing these trails. I highly encourage folks to follow the All Trails app info vs the park map.

Excellently marked trails. To get to the main trails drive past the park entrance and fish breeding pools to a graveled lot on the left. Don’t forget to check to check out the main park though for the beach area and the cabins. The rugged trail (orange) is straight up for over the first half of a mile. I’d suggest going right at the fork if committed to the hike. Go left if wimping out if the creek is flooded is your style. #IHikedTheFirstDay

We love this place. We come every year. It's a peaceful place to enjoy family. Swimming, fishing, hiking, canoeing. There's a lot to do here. Most of the spots are very spacious. We got one this year that didn't have much room. We crammed the canopies in. One is partly in the woods. We will know next time. Everyone is so nice. The bathhouses are always clean. The cabins are great. They have heat, air, bunk beds, a loft. They are very spacious. It's about the same price for a tent/ camper site. Totally worth it!

5 stars just for the beach. Didn't go into the park more but will definitely be looking into camping one weekend out there. Has a volleyball net, tons of picnic tables, plenty of shade. Even if it were a bit more crowded I think it wouldn't have been bad. Maybe needs another dumpster, it's a bit of a walk but also can stop on the way out. Very relaxing day.

Beautiful, spacious campgrounds with plenty to do. Swimming, fishing, boating kayaking, multiple playgrounds. Would love to come back in the fall to see the beautiful trees as a backdrop for the lake.

Have camped here for several years and never had issues until this year. We were a little loud the first night but got quiet after DNR came by and said it was after quiet hour. The property manager, Kevin Schneider, came by the next day to remind us of when quiet hours were and then blamed us for loud music (we didn't even have a radio) and our kids riding bikes in the dark, which wasn't our kids because we made them put their bikes up at dark and they were with us all evening. Then he proceeded to come by 2 times after quiet hour started while we were just sitting and talking around the fire and said we were being loud and the neighbors and cabins were complaining. We walked around and even went to the cabin area to see if you could hear us and you couldn't. We even asked the neighbors the next day and they never heard us at all. He also tried to tell us that we needed to go to bed and said it was our opinion when we tried to tell him we couldn't be heard when we tested what he said. We unfortunately will have to take our camping elsewhere as Kevin seemed like he had nothing else to do but stand by our campsite and wait for a peep so he could tell us what to do. The cars at the track 4 miles away were louder than us. It's unfortunate, we really liked camping there.

Always a great time here. Campsites are perfect, shower houses are clean, kayaking around the island or back into the hidden creek is just a good time
