This place offers reasonable prices. However, the items are a bit scattered. If you are a deal seeker pay attention to the prices, because you may find a deal elsewhere. The employees are friendly people. They accept personal checks. Rich and Renee, in particular are outstanding and are willing to answer questions. I originally rated this place 3 stars; however, based on their friendliness I am giving them an extra star.

Went in yesterday 2x. The first time I got a couple shirts really cheap. The second time when I got there I just wanted some baked beans. The employee chased me to the back of the store where the baked beans are located and tried to insist I use a shopping basket so it ensures I shop more or don't steal his words. Very rude and disrespectful not recommended.

I go in to this Store on Friday July 1 @ approx 1700 hours and purchased $58.56 in groceries. I proceeded to self checkout due to a line at the register. After I scanned everything, I proceeded to pay with my debit card. The computer was processing and and transaction failed and stated credit card was cancelled. I repeated this transaction 3 x and received the same message each time. The cashier noticed I was having issues and she stated they have been having issues with the self check out So i proceeded to cashier to scan my items. No big deal.....It happens. So I get home and I checked my checking account and noticed I was charged 2x for my groceries. Once again, it happens. I called dollar general and spoke to someone who claimed to be a manager on duty. I explained to said manager of what happened and the manager asked me if i had a receipt. I explained that I did not because the self checkout was not working. Then the manager on duty stated to me that it was my responsibility to keep my receipt and with a very disrespectful attitude. so yes I blew up and demanded this manager to contact higher up. The manager stated she would attempt and would contact me back. I received no return phone call. This morning I called Dollar General and spoke to the assistant maager and she told me to go to the bank and get a statement showing that I was charged twice and they would refund my money. I went to the Bank and received the print out. I then went to Dollar general. The same cashier was working that checked me out. So she told the Store manager that I was there. The store manager stated that I could wait until she finished checking out the other Customers. Fair enough. So when the Store manager got to me I gave her my bank tranactions . Then she started yelling at me and accusing me of discriminating against her employees. I asked her what does this have to do with discrimination??? She stated that the person I talked to on the phone last night was a female and since I was using "he" pronoun I was discriminating. Im sorry when I call and tge employee sounded like a guy with a guy name, Im assuming it was a guy I was talking to. So tell me how im discriminating??? So with her attitude and yelling at me in front of not only her employees but other customers and treating me like that is not called for and as of Tuesday morning, she will be walked out of Dollar General. I am a long time Customer at Dollar General and spend alot of money there. I refuse to be treated like that! If she does not get walked out, I will NEVER step a foot in another Dollar General as long as I'm living! I will pay extra to go to Walmart or Family Dollar! It is not ok to treat a loyal Customer the way I was treated!!!!

Doesn't seem very customer friendly. While I was there 2 customers in wheelchairs had to struggle to get in the door.Not only did they struggle to get through the door but the maintenance man was blocking the path with his scissor lift.The floors looked like they haven't been cleaned in weeks.It was a gamble on half my purchases cause there was a lack of price tags on the shelves.

I knew today was the last day for the 50% off yellow & white clearance. There were no signs on any of the clearance apparel. Also, no signs showing the 50% off sale. Clearly management is very poor. It's not hard to put out signs. Other items I purchased had no price on shelf or product...had to find out at checkout how much they were.

Staff is poor at customer service. Checkouts are busy. (won't open 2nd or third lane). Clientele is strait out of a shelter. These stores could be great "corner stores" but not the way they are poorly managed. I mean, they zip-tied broom handles to the carts so you can't take them outside. What the what? Go out and collect the carts - dummies. If you are going to try and replace the grocery store, match the basic conveniences provided by a grocery store.

The Good: ✔This particular Dollar General has basically a whole wall dedicated to refrigerated and frozen food with a nice variety compared to some other DG stores. If I know I'll need food and don't want a big trip to Kroger, this is my go-to since it's close to home. ✔The employees will help bring your sacks to your vehicle and ✔ the ones I have encountered are friendly/kind.The Bad:🚫Shoppers can not take carts out to their vehicles as each cart has a massive vertical rod welded to each cart! Never in my life have I seen this before at ANY store. Can't DG invest in carts that the wheels lock and stop rolling once beyond a set specified perimeter?...because not being able to take a cart out of the store to your vehicle is RIDICULOUS... period...but add in a cranky child in tow and a moderately full cart = recipe for disaster! 🚫The parking lot seriously needs repaved and the parking lines need re-painted. 🚫The entryway doors are not automatic but not that it matters too much as we (shall I mention again?) can't take the carts outside to our vehicles. 🚫No public bathroom. 🚫The floor tiling needs better maintained-- it looks dull, dirty, and unprofessional. 🚫There is known to be only one register open on the regular and long lines are happenstance.

Staff is usually nice and the store is clean. The customers there can be sketchy. You can find a lot of basic necessities and household goods here. This is also a good place if you're on a budget.

Some workers are nice & sociable other's could careless if you come or go... There shelf's are A MESS stuff so out of place you actually think it really goes there..... I only go there when I absolutely have to.....

Customer service was ok, but management or corporate needs to get a handle on the cleanliness of all their stores. The floors are always disgusting no matter what time of day and merchandise everywhere that it shouldn't be.

Decent dollar store. Nothing spectacular. One glaring issue is they have to have the law vertical pipes installed on the carts so people can't make them outside the building and steal them. So don't go grabbing more things than you can carry on one trip to your car.

Usually has everything you need including $1.00 items for the home. With Digital Coupons, sale items, and generally low prices, I save a lot of money here. Most stores are also offering FREE WIFI while in the store

There is always a long line and only one register open during the busiest times of the day the management is rude and never seem to want to help out their employee's. It seems like the shelves are always bear. It seems like the card reader machine is always down and they can only accept cash.

Wish they acted better regarding the whole covid-19 mask thing. They act like everyone is going to get them sick who isn't wearing a mask. It should be a personal choice not to wear one.

One counter was open and they spent 17 minutes on him as he returned some items. Then a woman who had been yakking on her cell phone finally opened another counter. Instead if taking the people who were already waiting in line she took other people who had just come up to the counter. When it was suggested that she should take the people akready waiting she said she didn't care.Really BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Just can't take carts out to your car. So they make you stand around and wait for an employee to come help carry .... so don't get alot, or go to a different store.

Giving it a one star rating cause they don't clean the carts or the baskets and there is almost 2000 cases of covid-19 in terre haute other than that employees are nice

Nice, inexpensive though it doesn't carry the stock of larger stores like Kroger no fresh fruits or vegetables, staff very friendly, store was clean easy to find what you need.

Need more registers open at one time. Too often per hour cashiers are overloaded causing the wait for assistance to be very inconvenient for all involved.

Don't go to this particular store if you have several items to purchase. There are poles on the carts preventing customers from taking them out of the store, an inconvenience for any customer purchasing large items or quantities. I watched a young woman struggle with three twelve packs tonight, one of them breaking open in the store. This could have been prevented if she had a cart to carry her purchased items out in.

The cashier was too worried about talking about the store getting sued to worrt about bagging my items correctly and halfway home i had to call someone to help ne carry my bags home because they werent bagged correctly

There was only one register open. Manager doesn't even bother helping. Understaffed and the staff that is worked is over worked. Who ever the GM is should really learn how to run a store

This store is always so dirty inside. The stuff on the shelves are thrown everywhere, the employees aren't the nicest people either. But it is close to home and they usually have what I need.
