Not many mom & pop places left like this one! Worth the trip because they make their own ice cream. Sure, you can get twisty cones there but it’s not the same. I love their upside down… banana split in a cup and nutty professor. Kids like Superman and hubby loves their Carmel sundaes. My sister loves the malts.. they aren’t “cheap” but how often do you get one this good? Stop in during season, I doubt you’ll regret it. (Not paid for advertising)

Flagpole's ice cream has the absolutely most amazing texture of many ice creams I've tried. It is creamy and almost gooey, with good enough texture that I almost want to bite down to eat it. The flavors they have are amazing too - Red Indian and Smurfs are both unique to The Flagpole. Wonderful local ice cream shop.

My wife and I have been loyal customers of the Flagpole for most of our adult lives. The quality of their menu items and the unique selection of ice cream treats can't be found anywhere else in Indiana. However, what rises above all of this is the friendly, personalized customer service that Tim and Helen show to every hungry patron who comes there. (They will even go out of their way to customize a menu item to accommodate a strawberry allergy) I only wish that other businesses around the country would adopt the same personal, caring philosophy. Plain and simple, they make you feel like family! Thank you!

Can you say "Amazing"!!!! By far the best ice cream I have ever had. I have become a regular. I walk all around Rochester, so I can stop and say hello and have my upside down. With their customizing smiles. You will leave with a smile for sure. Great staff and the owners are very nice people..

I came from 2 and a half hours away, and never heard of this place. I told the people to surprise me because I can be indecisive. This is by far the best ice cream joint I’ve been to, and quite frankly, y’all beat Dairy Queen by a long shot! Keep up the good work!

The ice is homemade for sure, creamy, with several varieties. But I like others better. Long wait in the summer as the only hometown drive up ice cream

The Flagpole opened the same year I was born. I've not been disappointed in the quality of the ice cream (frozen custard) in the 64 years I've been going there. We take a cooler packed with weekenders when we go up there and bring a quart of lemon and a quart of chocolate home with us. It is priced comparably to most premium ice creams. I can't vouch for the foot longs as it has been at least 10 years since I've had one. It was the first place I ate a slushy, a foot long dog, and a coney dog. I think I judge all against the pole.

Not that I worry when I pull into the Flagpole and can barely find a place to park, but when you take a look around this country, these kinds of places are becoming few and far between. This place is nostalgic for not only me, but for anyone who grew up with that little place that still cares about putting a quality, homemade product in their customers' hands. From homemade ice cream (Red Indian is not the most politically correct for a flavor, but is some of the best ice cream you will taste), soft serve and hot food to the quirky treats and specials, they always manage to impress. I never miss an opportunity to go. Heed my words and help keep places like this alive.

I grew up in a small town that had a family run ice cream stand. This reminds me of that along with all the childhood flavor memories. The drive in has slushies, hotdogs, old fashion sodas, and of course a dozen or more flavors of dipped and soft serve ice creams. Seating is outdoors but under a roof. There is an AC area for when it's too hot. My family of four loved it for under $10.

Nice and clean area to eat. Great service. I went there with my nephew, as I had never been there before, and the burgers were great. So were the mozzarella sticks. I don't know why I never ate there before but I will definitely be going back.

The foot long "the works" dog was a meal in itself. I love soft pretzels, so I had to try their pretzel sticks. I'm glad I did, they were really good!

Amazing homemade ice cream! Definitely a recommended stop while visiting Lake Manitou. The Upside-down Banana Split is my favorite.

The footlong hot dog was very good and the ice cream was a little too soft with the waffle cone was not crispy at all it was real chewy

I have to say that before this year I was not a fan of the flagpole but it is very fresh and the service is better. I find myself taking the family here to get ice cream more often.
