They’re racist and discriminate against African Americans all I did was go try to get some fish for my daughter’s fish tank she has multiple fish tanks and a manager named Renee at the portage location was rude and interrogating me like I did wrong and I didn’t like her or her employees hostile attitude and worried about my house or my business questioning me when I spend my money come in with manors and this the thanks I get you’re racist and I won’t rest until everyone knows it.. she tried provoking me to get loud but I left calm and peaceful I’ll never come back you lost a customer for life thanks to the assistant manager Pam

Came here on 3/7 to buy feeder fish, it was a Tuesday. I called the prior week and was told they get their feeders on Thursday and hold them for 24 hours for testing so i purposely waited to give them time. Well, 2 weeks later my entire tank is dead due to ICK. Do not suggest buying any fish from here, we now have to take apart and replace majority of our tank, not to mention the loss of the fish and money and time spent establishing the tank.

I love the variety here but the customer service is quite rude. I walked up to the counter and there are 3 women all chatting, one says " can someone get that" the other one walks up like she's irritated that I'm there. Not very friendly. I work in customer service and would never act like this to a customer. If you don't like your life or job the customer shouldn't feel it.

I’ve been to many for the self serve dog washes. Went to this location while at my mom’s and it was filthy. Dog fecal inthe garage can by the wash tubs, , both wash tubs filthy and not sanitize, cold water in winter, and when we left to get our money back the supervisor on duty was not apologetic or friendly at all. Go somewhere else if you care about your dog.

Love this Pet Supplies Location! The staff are always really nice. I’ve taken my dog, Zuko here quite a bit for nail trims and the groomers are amazing. They’re really patient with him even when he tries to jump off the table.

My dog has allergies and I was told good food instead of the stuff I've been feeding him will help bought a chewy stick 3 ft long for $3 all of a sudden my dog wants to take it outside to eat it once I let him out he does the happy dance never seen I'm so happy of course I'm going back to get more love this place good food

My Yorkie and I love this place. The staff very nice, professional, and helpful. They have everything your pets need. They have fish, hampsters, and other small pets you can purchase. Great people to do business with.

I took my 6 month old rescue puppy for her 1st nail trim and the staff was so awesome! The girl performing the "operation" got down on the floor and pet/hugged/rubbed my puppy for 5 minutes to gain her trust....after one clip my pup cried out of nervousness so the girl stopped and repeated the pet/hug/rub therapy over again to let my dog know everything will be alright. It calmed her down and worked like a charm!!! I love going here because of the staff and how loving/caring they are to all the pets that come through their doors!!!

I will never shop at the Portage Pet Supplies Plus EVER AGAIN! Today, September 14th, 2023 we went to the Portage Pet Supplies Plus. We were looking to buy two ferrets and some supplies for our snakes enclosure. My husband was trying to play with the ferrets (because we want ones with a good temperament) an old lady who worked there walked by and yelled "DON'T TOUCH THEM" he replied very nicely and said "Oh, we can't touch them?" She said really loudly "NO!" as she walked into the back of the store. It made us both very angry. I yelled out "FINE, WE WON'T BUY THEM THEN!!" So, that's when we decided we were for sure NOT buying anything from this store NOR will we EVER return. I will make a trip to Merrillville before going right down the road to Portage again. We ended up coming to PetLand where we not only were able to PLAY with our two ferrets before purchasing them, but we ALSO were treated with respect. I do understand if they don't want the animals to be touched due to germs and them getting sick or something but you don't have to be so rude. We would obviously want to play with them prior to buying them to make sure they aren't extremely mean and unnecessarily bite. Either way, there are better ways to handle these types of situations and that not only wasn't unprofessional but also uncalled for. I really hope whoever that old lady was, would find a job that isn't working with the public. She was awful. Regardless, at the end of the day, we got our furry new loves. WITHOUT Pet Supplies Plus. We will NEVER shop there again!

went 5 mins until close since valpo store constantly out of Dubai roaches, staff super friendly had them waiting at register for us, but watch closely to receipt, they have B. O. G. O 50% on most items but the computer didn't take it off(reptile lights are expensive) at the checkout we questioned it and we're assured it did, but upon closer look at receipt as we got to our truck to leave, it wasn't taken off the expensive bulbs. the store had Just locked the door behind us but still were happy to unlock and fix the error immediately. staff was pleasant about it and quickly offered the refunded difference! thanks again!

Just went here for some stuff for my new kitten. The store manager took her time showing me kitten foods and sharing my very many questions. Probably the best customer service I’ve ever received. Absolutely awesome!
