This store is not how I remember it! It use to be an excellent place to get some amazing bargains. But now the prices are Crazy High for DONATED items! Sometimes you can find a Treasure but overall not as impressed as I used to be.

It's about time to change the name for this Business. My suggestion is " not so Goodwill " anymore. In general it is very unreasonable to shop there anymore. For many reasons.Check this out what happened to me: around 3 years ago a manager from a Goodwill store was suggesting to bring my peace of clothes that I try to find a match for. I was happy with this option so I do not have to return clothes that are not suitable with what I have at home. Since then I walked in the store showed the person on the corner what I brought and " happy shopping". Today I was looking for a match again, showed my trousers to the cashier up front (as usual) pulled them out of my bag and had them in my hands to compare the colors. Out of nowhere another Lady who works there approached me from the distance and sayed very unfriendly (everybody around could hear her)"Mam you can't do that". I asked what do you mean? She said: " you can't walk in and show the cashier your clothes and do what you do". That have to be approved by a manager. This is against our policy. I felt very uncomfortable and honestly I felt like I'm doing a crime.She was demanding and rude. I answered:" I'm sorry but I wasn't aware that this is a problem, as I did that in the past several times and it was never a problem". She answered: I DON'T THINK SO". Unbelievable, she accused me in front of everybody around that I'm lying. I was telling her that I don't appreciate the way she is talking to me and tryed to set matters strait and explain myself. Badwille - no chance she had not her "listening ears" on. I realized that it doesn't make any sense to talk to this person. She repeated herself that this is a policy,....and I should accept that. She was not Interested to recall that the way things are being handled was the real problem behind. A fundamental sense of reasonable management is the problem here. It's not the customer. If that is a policy why did the cashier up front not know about it. And how could I know that eighter? Right? Instead of putting me as a customer on a very bad spot about it and now I have to put up with this "yelling" person and everybody in the shop is witnessing it. It turned out that she is A MANAGER, when the Manager is not at the Location. All I can say: "is that how you are training or giving a example for Employees who try to find a way back in a Job?" As she said to me:" I DON'T THINK SO". I'm not interested to give a Donation anymore when I buy something there. Definitely: "not so Goodwill" anymore.

This place is unorganized and a bit messy. Staff seems friendly. I’ve never had an issue here. I’ve found many hidden gems here! Prices aren’t too bad…

Your prices have become so outrageous and arbitrary - seemingly without relation to actual value - that it's now cheaper to buy new clothes with very few exceptions. Which is a shame for so many reasons. I just bought a white polo at portage for $8.99(!!!) only to find the same one new for $7.75 online. I knew it felt crazy, shame on me!

A true treasure hunt store as you never know what you will find at a bargain price ranging from new designer apparel to gently used gadgets. Staff are always pleasant, and establishment is community based and champions a good cause.

The place seemed clean, well staffed, but a bit disorganized. The shoes they sell are a complete mess. Who wants shoes with soles missing or heels torn up? Other than that, it's a decent place to go thrifting. The location is pretty convenient and they always seem to have parking available.

Whoever works here that prices stuff needs to chill. Pricing old table top saws for $100 when you could find them behind the pawn shop for free or pay someone $10 for them. They get the stuff for free and wanna charge ridiculous amounts for their stuff.

I just want to say that this Goodwill is by far the BEST one around. Not only are the staff super nice, the place is always clean & neat. Most importantly the prices are super reasonable as well. Most Goodwill have extremely high prices & it's truly sad that prices at goodwill continue to skyrocket given that items are donated. I think prices should not continue to go up constantly. This place is great!

Over all the check out guy was real nice. We were not rushed being 30 minutes till close. We were unable to find a VCR but we did find a nice DVD player for $3.99 and you can't beat that with a stick. Even found a box of Clarinet Reeds I can use.

The store was reorganized since the last time I was in there. Most areas made more sense and we're neater than before. Some were not as much but still not bad. The store is clean and the staff were today and every time I've been there very polite.

This is my "new" Goodwill location. I have made a few trips recently, and it is literally right around the corner. On my first trip i found found a near perfect wool casmere jacket in an autumn orange... but it was a ladies' jacket. It provided me with an opportunity to sell it to fellow patron "jehn" thanks for playing along.. And yes, I am often confused as an employee....I know fashion.Visit your neighborhood Goodwill today.Start your style as I did....I call it The Midwest Layered Grunge an altertive the this Carhart Nation we live in here in the Midwest.

Women over a size 10 are not plus size, and should not be put on a plus size rack! How demeaning to women! Now please don't get me wrong. I think we are all gorgeous no matter what size. However, finding my size 11/12 on the plus size rack was totally disgraceful. We have enough issues with society judging women by their appearance that we do not need second hand stores causing women who are average to look at themselves differently or possibly negatively! Get real Portage Goodwill! Very disappointed!

Lots of hillbilly shoppers. The day I visited, I think every other customer smoked a carton of smokes a day. Tight isles. Especially when most of the customers could use the lap band procedure. Make the trip to the Valparaiso Good Will. That store is put together better, the customers don't smell and the merchandise selection is far better.

Prices are too high for a company that gets their donations for free. I seen a sign from Dollar Tree that was $1.25 new. Here at Goodwill, it was $2.99. I know we are dealing with inflation but this is ridiculous

Wow! It ACTUALLY smelled clean in there for the first time ever.dvds were horizontal instead of vertical so u could READ the titles. Buggies r still dirty. All in all much better in Good will since covid. Keep it clean.

Another goodwill that thinks they are a retail store. You guys are a second hand used goods store. A disgusting Dyson Vacuum for $199!...Sneakers for $49! Is there drug testing at this location? Your really doing the mission a dis-service. Shameful.

I like the goodwill at portage. Fine staff, wide selection. My only minor gripe is that they put video games at a certain section where the VHS and CDs and whatever are, but overall its a nice spot to go thrift shopping

Decent prices compared to most thrifts around here. They have problems keeping their outside signs up to date, like for months at a time. Also, no 2 people price things by the same criteria or give the same answer to a given question. Serious lack of organization skills on the mgr's part.

I always love thrift shopping... Yet the prices keep going up all of time. A pair of jeans go for $9.99! I feel like that is too expensive for second hand especially with minor imperfections here and there.

Great Place, Clean and Organized though they seem a little higher than some other Goodwill locations. Friendly Staff. Don't forget your Goodwill Card or Driver License for Discounts.
