Dr Ricks provided top not quality emergency care to my dog. She saved her from dying of complications that could have been prevented from her previous vet who misdiagnosed her 2 times and left her in complete misery. Dr Ricks displayed highly effective communication as well as a treatment plan that gave me hope and my dog life. She has completely recovered and healed now. If it wasn't for the staff at Honneger animal clinic my precious fur baby wouldn't be here today. Thank you all for your amazing care, compassion and treatment that allowed me to have many more years to come with my girl. Again. If you're In need of amazing modern day veterinarian care for your animal please go here. You and your pets will be in amazing care. Way to go! Bravo 💯❤️

The vet techs at Honegger are friendly, helpful, and simply adore pets! We met a new vet this time, the wonderful Dr. Hicks. She was knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The office was quiet and efficient. Our appointment was on time and we had check-in, annual exam, vaccinations, and check out completed in 20 minutes.

I lost my perfectly healthy, beautiful, 8-month old Golden Retriever puppy Lily after taking her to be spayed at Honegger Animal Clinic. I had nothing but a horrible experience starting from a negligent mistake made during a routine spay, followed by completely inexcusable neglect in examining post procedure troubles, to the insensitive denial of error and lack of accountability after the death of my puppy, until proven at fault by lab tests determined by Purdue University Animal Hospital and KNIVES Specialty Hospital. Mistakes happen, but what was most disappointing was how the situation was handled, and the lacked attempt to correct it. In no way is this to speak poorly of the staff at Honegger, whom are all very kind. However, more than anything I wish that I would have had the opportunity to read the review I am leaving before I decided to take my puppy Lily in for her spay at Honegger Animal Clinic. I feel that if I had not taken my puppy here I would still have her today.During her spay, Lily’s urinary tract was sutured shut instead of her reproductive system as intended. A mistake this negligent should never have occurred during a procedure this routine. What was even more upsetting was the lack of help and the matter in which Honegger handled Lily’s struggles in the days following the procedure. In the days after her surgery, I had noticed Lily was not recovering well and I could tell something didn’t seem right. After multiple calls into the clinic I felt I was not given much help or serious attention and was discouraged against bringing her in because of the clinic’s busy schedule. I realized things were not right and I was too scared for my puppy’s health. I brought her in anyway and insisted that she be looked at. When I was finally able to get Lily seen, she was not given thorough attention. We were rushed, no X-rays were given (which would have saved her life and identified Honegger’s sickening mistake) following continued and on-going issues after a serious surgery. Instead, she was just given an IV and pumped full of fluids, by the veterinarian whom had sutured her urinary tract shut, which Lily was unable to process because of the mistake, resulting in faster damage and suffering in the enlarged swelling of her kidneys. It is absolutely infuriating, heartbreaking, and sickening to know the suffering and pain Lily had to endure as a result of not only a negligent mistake during a routine surgery, but inexcusable, irresponsible, neglect, due to lack of care, patience, and attention. Lily and I put our trust in the veterinarian, and this vet clinic, for her well-being, and I felt we were abandoned. Later I followed my instinct and took Lily in to the emergency animal hospital where I hoped we could find help and serious attention (I cannot share enough great things about KNIVES Specialty Hospital). Heartbreakingly, at that point it was too late. And I lost the most pure, unconditionally loving pup I have ever been around, at 8-months old. All result of issues that should never have occurred in the first place, and were completely avoidable. Mistakes happen, but what is most upsetting is the way everything was handled, from the lack of help and care provided, capped off by the insensitive denial of any wrongdoing and the insistence that the mistake was due to Lily’s anatomy being abnormal, which was proved completely false by professional lab tests and examinations performed by both KNIVES and Purdue University Animal Hospital. Extremely saddening and avoidable experience.

10 out of 10 recommend. We moved to the area only 2 months ago so we had not established our senior Beagle at a vet yet. Of course he had an issue pop up and it was getting urgent since we were on 16 hours of refusing food and water. They were able to get us in later that day without the cost of the closer emergency hospital (since we weren’t quite at that stage and I was trying to avoid getting to that level of need). Dr Ricks was kindly patient with our anxious dog, VERY thorough in examining him, talked through all the possible problems that they were thinking through, and LISTENED to our feedback on those possibilities. I’m so thankful they were able to get him in so quickly and we could avoid the issue getting worse. Totally worth the 50 minute drive to them!

When I read the 5 star reviews here stating things like "I got a quick appointment." and "I have been coming here for years and the staff is friendly." It is truly ridiculous to see how customers rate this vet clinic like it is some sort of fast food restaurant or department store. This is a medical facility and should be rated on how well they diagnose medical issues and resolve them. This misleading review score is what led me to choose this worthless vet clinic in the first place. Read this review thoroughly and entirely so you understand how this facility and its staff plays on your emotions to maximize their profits and prolong your animal's issues. They are not here to practice medicine and think logically to get down to the root cause of an illness. They wiped me out financially during a time in our fragile economy when every person is just one massive unexpected bill away from going under. Here is my story:I brought my 12 year old Border Collie, Gunner, into this clinic a couple weeks ago with paralysis and joint pain issues. In the past I brought Gunner to a vet 3 hours away, but since I moved to Ossian in 2022, I needed a closer option. I told the staff that I had found a few ticks on Gunner recently, but that is the only thing out of the ordinary I could report. There were 2 doctors there that day, an older retired doctor that was working as relief for a busy schedule and Dr. Ricks the main doctor. The older doctor started with Gunner and ordered 2 blood tests, an x-ray, and ultimately an overnight check in. He reported that the blood-work showed low platelets, which he suspected was internal bleeding, which led to the x-ray that showed nothing of concern internally. He doubled down on this "internal issue" and stated the pancreas could be inflamed. I watched him push in on Gunner's stomach and there was no reaction from Gunner.....not even a flinch. Still the doctor asked for Gunner to be checked in overnight. I was obviously worried for my dog and just wanted him to get better. They played on my feelings and I agreed to the overnight check-in with IV steroid treatment. The next day the steroids allowed Gunner to move again, and I paid an insane $800 bill and took Gunner home hoping the worst was behind us.After a week of administering the steroids, the prescription called for a reduction of the dosage. Like a light switch being flipped, Gunner was back to the same issues. I called Dr. Ricks and she told me to increase the steroid dosage. That was all.....Now I knew something was wrong and I called Gunner's old vet 3 hours away. They requested Honegger's test results and information and were immediately shocked that no tick-related illness tests had been administered yet with the blood-work. I couldn't believe it. Why??? That was the first thing I reported to these so-called "doctors" at Honegger! The doctor at my old vet told me to request the tests and I called back Dr. Ricks at Honegger. Dr. Ricks said that the tests would be a waste of time and money because Gunner's ticks were recent and it takes a few weeks for a tick illness to show up in a test after infection. I thought for a moment at this odd response....I asked her if Gunner had other ticks in prior weeks before I found the most recent ones then would the tests work? She said yes. I mean come on here! She is the doctor! Why hadn't she put 2 and 2 together and figured if my dog lives in an environment that has ticks then he could have been exposed earlier!? I asked her if she would make things right and cover a test for us without charge. She said no and there would be additional charges. Well Dr. Ricks, I can go to any vet and get additional charges, so that is exactly what I did.I made the 3 hour drive back to my old vet. $85 later we found out Gunner has a common tick illness called Anaplasmosis. He is now taking an antibiotic and recovering quickly. The illness is characterized by weakness and a low blood platelet count. Dr. Ricks and the staff at Honegger had all the tests to assume this obvious illness.

The good vets are gone and the new people are horrible! The former people were kind and considerate and helpful and honest. These new people are condescending, talk down to you, do nothing to help you or your pet and did absolutely nothing for us but sell us the heartworm pills.

I’m a new client, my pup had an eye infection. I live close, not super happy with our current vet so I called to see if I could get in soon. Got an appt for same day, excellent care from Dr Erin and the techs. Really glad to find a caring and capable Veterinarian in Ossian! Great job everyone!

The best veterinarian in the state! This place always puts the animal and owner first, even when it comes down to not just helping your animal get healthy, but they help you save money while you do it! I’ve been coming here for 20 years with multiple different animals and they always do what’s right!

Great animal clinic. Easy to get an appt. No waiting around to be taken to a room. Vets and staff are wonderful. It's only 15 minutes from Fort Wayne. I highly recommend Honegger Animal Clinic.

Don't want to go to any other veteranian. Dr. Patti is the best, gets to the root of the problem, kind & loving to her client's. Have been going there for 29 years. Our cat of 17yrs doesn't seem to mind going there. The staff is great as well. Very clean office. Everything is done professionally.

Had a great experience and the doctor was so nice, explained things, wasn't pushy about giving things to my cats I didn't feel like I wanted to give them at that time. The front desk girl was not as friendly seemed like she was a little confused everything I asked, maybe she was new. Overall, wonderful experience.

They took time and energy to get to know my pet’s temperament—intuitively + with a purpose. They orchestrated the best possible scenario for getting shots. Well organized, clean, well supplied, informative and helpful. They went above and beyond for my skittish rescue dog. Great care! Highly recommend. (Context: this is the second vet clinic I’ve used in the Fort Wayne area).

They are super helper! The nurses always help me when I take all 3 of my (100 + lbs) dogs at once to save money and reduce anxiety for them. The nurses told me I didn't have to mussle my dogs that they preferred I didn't unless it was absolutely necessary because they want them to be comfortable and feel safe. I only used a mussle because I assumed I had to. They are about average but very friendly environment.

This used to be a top notch vet to go to. Now it's difficult to get an appointment. I do not recommend the paw plan, as we got ripped off. We couldn't make an appointment soon enough, (because of their staffing issues) and they said our plan expired. We ended up paying full price for the appointment and shots, when it was free on the plan. Had we known this BEFORE our pup was seen, we wouldn't have been seen at all, and went elsewhere. This service at our new vet would have been half the price Honegger charged us.Times are tough, and I realize they are having difficulty keeping staff. I sure wish they were understanding enough to know we work hard for our money that they had no problem charging us.Never again. Inflated costs, and knowing full well they had just taken our paw plan payment 2 weeks before our appointment, and refused to honor the plan. Pretty shady, especially in this economy in a small town.I gave one star because I had to, to make a review.

The entire staff is always caring, attentive, and professional. They all take great care of our new puppy, and over the past fourteen years, took excellent care of our previous dogs, even in the dogs' final moments. That's where the staff really excelled, from the receptionist, the tech and the doctor, they all showed great amounts of compassion toward us as well as our dogs.

After years and years of great service, I'm coming back to edit this review and change from 5 stars to 1. First let me say, every animal I've owned I've taken here and it's been great and the staff are amazing, except for apparently their current surgeon. Last year I took my puppy to get spayed and she developed a flesh eating bacterial infection a couple days afterward. Long story short, months later and nearly $14,000 later, she's fine (although a little traumatized) but the specialist ER vet in Indy that cared for her said it was most likely due to a contamination during the spay. Guess who didn't offer to cover any of the bills? Honegger. I will not be taking any of my pets back there again.

We moved to the area and our old vet is over an hour away so when our dog needed emergency vet care they were able to get us in the same day I called (on a Friday) and the vet did so well with our dog. They even called the following Monday to check up on her and to see if she was feeling better. We also just had a recheck and had her yearly exam. The vet did such an amazing job handling our girl.

I recently took my very sick cat "Midnight" to this clinic. I cannot say enough good things about them. They were the most helpful and compassionate people. After a few days I had to make the painful decision to put Midnight down. Brittney was so thoughtful and carrying of what I was going through. Actually the whole staff was very compassionate. I give them 5 stars for their treatment of Midnight and me!!

We have been going to Honegger Animal Clinic for 20 years. The staff is very friendly and make us feel like family. They have provided wonderful medical help for our pets. They genuinely care about us and our dogs. They listen to what I have to say and give me options for my pets health care. When we had a pet die, they sent a us a very nice card. I wouldn't take my animals any where else. They are top notch.

Had a dog emergency and they were booked up. I told them the situation and they said they'd work him in even though he was not one of their patients. When we arrived, they got him to an exam room right away. The doc was great. A very caring person. I was impressed with how clean the facilities were as well. The next day, the office made a follow-up call to check on him. We'll be taking our pets here in the future.
