Amazing little country store! The biscuits and gravy are great, and the service was charming! The lady that works there can really cook and is very nice! Went and played in the creek behind the store and it was so relaxing and fun! Didn't have to leave my perfect day to run and get drinks or food, the store was right there for all my needs! Will definitely go back!

This has always been a great spot to stop and rest and get a note to eat. They have a buffet breakfast (that includes drink, tea or coffee). They also make sandwiches to go. Super friendly.

Came for gold stayed for the breakfast! Me and my family stopped here on Father's day to fill our stomachs before panning for gold in salt creek. I wish there were more of these places around. Was greeted by friendly folks and delicious breakfast. We will be back!

We always stop at this little Mom n Pop General Store on the way to Brown county. It is situated on a stretch of picturesque country road not far from Nashville, IN. The small staff is friendly. They don't have a large selection but it's a great biz to support.

Wonderful place to eat. Great pizza, blt's, and other sandwiches. Also breakfast bar on weekends which I have not tried. They also have regular meals.I enjoy visiting with Robin and her husband which are always very pleasant.I have also panned for gold in Salt Creek by their business. They have a supply of gold pans and general equipment that will get you started.

Robin Stevens the owner is a very nice lady. And everybody that works for her is great. A very friendly bunch, You will feel like they have known you for years on your first visit. She also sells and rents prospecting supply's like James said (above) plus their are several gold prospecting groups and clubs that meet there every month (I'm a member of a few of them) and are always happy to meet new people also. One of the best things is you can have a pizza delivered right down to you on the creek and all the food is top rate. This part of salt creek is famous for Indiana gold and there are prospectors from many nearby states that come there just to hunt gold.

On a recent cycling tour with TRIRI, the September Escapade, my bride and I stopped at the Gatesville Country Store as we had heard that they had good pie. Good it was! I asked for a bit of ice cream and the very friendly woman behind the counter asked, "Would you like that warmed up a bit?" Nothing a lot better than warm homemade apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on it! As it turned out, the woman working there, I believe she is the owner, was very friendly and a font of knowledge about the area. My wife and I agree that of all the places we visited on our week cycle tour, Gatesville Country Store was a real favorite.

Read great things about this place online, so my husband and I decided to plan a whole day trip with the kids themed around rock hounding. We spent the first half of our day exploring the shops and attractions in Nashville, IN and the second half here. The lady owner is a gem herself, she is so friendly & patient and she quickly makes you feel welcome. The creek was alot of fun, so many beautiful minerals and rocks as well as geodes & fossils. Apparently there is a fair amount of gold in the creek, though we didn't try to spot any. We had a blast! We will definitely plan return visits and would recommend any prospectors in the area to check it out for themselves.

Great service, ok food. Not bad but I wouldn't classify it as "home cooked" which is the impression you get from the place. Definitely worth checking out! Be sure to look for Miss Kitty lounging on the porch.

Robin is a joy to meet and talk to, and the food is incredible. The fame of her biscuits & gravy is VERY well-deserved -- and this is from a prospector who prides himself on making it at home really well! There's a lot of gold in this part of the state, but anyone who does not make the Country Store their top priority when they visit Brown County for ANY reason is really missing out. The prospecting on Salt Creek after you park on Robin's property is about as perfect as it gets. If there's not a prospector's meeting or something to crowd the parking, you can drive back and park right on the prospecting part of the creek. The prices at the store are just right, and it's a great place to spend some money and relax before, during, and after a hard day of work, prospecting, or anything else! Bravo!

While this is an older facility, the owner goes above and beyond in the service department. Robin is an extremely helpful and friendly person who would probably give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it. You can tell she loves people.

Gatesville store is a real old fashioned country store where you can get convenience items, food, and/or the latest news or gossip. It is a gathering place much like the pubs in UK. Oh and the food is mostly home grown and home cooked... quite delicious!
