I can’t leave any kind of good review after the conditions of the animals I saw when I went in today. Dirty tanks, dead fish, small cages packed with way too many rodents… it was very sad. I hate seeing people making profit from selling animals when they can’t even house them and care for them properly.

i try to support any local business when i get the chance but the way that i’ve been treated by this store is unacceptable. made a purchase and was told i could return within 14 days, then when i called to confirm a few days later i was called a liar among many other things and my calls were ignored for many hours. any living thing being sold in this store looks SICK! i’m so sick of this store getting a pass for whatever reason, it’s been this way for years.

Staff were very nice. however the animals are in terrible conditions. small, dirty cages. They weren’t healthy. there were kittens in the back and they looked very sick. Some of the fish tanks were disgusting. The building itself was very dirty and falling apart.

I was physically ill when I saw and heard about the poor conditions of the rodents and animals. They were not taking care of properly and lots of them seemed distressed. There were several rodents with infections and seemed ill. It is critical that animals are taken care of properly so they feel comfortable! This store is horrible. I beg anyone who is willing to listen to please do not support this company! If you have any power use it and help this store close for good and help the animals become happy and healthy♥️

I have many fish and animals and frequented this store often.Today will be my last day ever going there.Came after work for ghost shrimp. Worker completely ignored me for the first 10 minutes. Stopped him and asked for help. He was very rude and still rude when he did come back to actually help. Lastly, he said he would not sell me all of the ghost shrimp I asked for because he wanted to leave some in the tank.There’s not many choices in muncie but I would rather travel to Anderson or new castle than to be treated like that.

Awesome customer service. I had an issue with my fish and he helped me right away, I am usually in here once a week and I have noticed the tanks getting cleaner and cleaner. If you ever have any questions about fish Andrew or Brad won't hesitate to help. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to get fish, especially saltwater

They really need to clean up their aquarium room bad. Tanks need a good cleaning and fish medicated. I think if this were done they would have a lot more customers come in for fish! Natural air fresheners would be a good idea as well. Not a bad place and workers are nice and helpful. Just wish the aquarium room was given more care. Im available to help clean if need! My ocd would go sky high in that room. 🤣👌

This place is horrible in terms of their treatment of animals. They were feeding rodents birdseed, several animals had sores on their feet, were keeping four legged animals in large fishtanks, and mislabeling animals entirely (for example an anole as an iguana) and let anyone just handle animals. They were scared of me and other humans handling them due to how they were being treated. This is awful to animals. Every living thing deserves a chance at life and they did not have it here.

They need to treat their animals better. A lot of aquariums are algae filled. Animals look lethargic. Place looks seriously dilapidated. General cleaning would be beneficial. Shelves are dusty, which shows they don’t really sell much product. Really is a shame, because I would rather support them than Pet Smart down the road.

This rating is for the pet side only.This place is horrible. It was very dirty, first of all. I am a loving hermit crab owner. Have been for many years. I went in here to check out their crabs, and at first it was okay, until the employee getting the crabs out for me started banging the poor little crabs against the glass. You can simply just wipe the dirt off. That is absolutely traumatizing to those poor little crabs. I wanted to take them all just to get them out of there. I’ve had better experiences at Petsmart, and that’s saying a LOT. One of the 2 crabs I bought that day was extremely friendly; he was crawling around my hands all happy. She took him to put in a container for me, and when she brought him back, he was soaking wet, very red, and would not come out of his shell at all. He wouldn’t even move when I touched him. He’s still a little skittish 2 days later, but he’s much better.A pet store should treat all animals with care and respect, and this place is severely lacking.

I can't say anything too bad about this place, but I would like to recommend that the owners or staff take better care of the fish. Husbandry is everything in a pet store. I noticed tons of empty and half-filled tanks with fish in them, dead fish and mess everywhere. They have a great selection though.

This place is the best. All the people who complain about the "bad customer service" need a lesson in patience. Waiting 30 seconds to be helped isn't bad customer service, that's called normal life. Anyways, I started going here because they were the only place to sell live mice in the area but since going every other week for going on two years now I wouldn't go anywhere else if given the option. Being a small business the selection is obviously going to be bit smaller and you might pay a dollar more for something but it's definitely worth it to support a local business. They are way more helpful and friendly then some randy at Petsmart who knows nothing about animals. 5 stars every time.

The last time i was here i kind of stood around and waited for him to help. I was about 4 feet away from Andrew as he talked to people. They have a great selection of animals, but the pet side of this place seems kind of unorganized and dirty. I can understand why people say bad customer service. I'm rating four due to the plant side of the store. Huge selection of plants. As for the pet side.. Maybe if Andrew didn't stand around on his phone, he could scrape some glass or pick the place up a bit.

For those to whom I recommended and highly regarded G&M Pet and Garden Center, I REVOKE MY STATEMENTS!! They foster terrible customer service and wholly lack a genuine of concern for their "pets." I am a former frequent patron of this local business, and regret spending as much money as I have there. I much prefer supporting a local business to supporting the big guys, but I cannot accept the way they have treated me. PetSmart it is!Unfortunately, they have a great selection of fish and supplies, and are the only place in Muncie that I can buy frozen food for my fish.The customer service has always been a complaint of mine, but I accepted it, knowing that they had the best selection and variety of pets in town. The woman who runs the cash register is smug and rude, treats even me (I shop there about once a week) like I am stupid. That is not appreciated. Their fish guy, Andrew has been very helpful in the past, but today was very rude as well. I stood next to him as he was counting crickets for about 30 seconds, until I had to say something to him to get his attention. What ever happened to good customer service?

This is a awesome place the staff is very friendly and helpful and has treated me well Everytime I go in there have never had a prob with the fish besides 2 times in over the year IV been going hereand he replaced them with no hesitation and gave me the right chemicals to bring my water back to safe conditions every week they get a very good variety of salt and freshwater fish in and will order what you want it's the best place IV found to go to around my area and would recommend it to anyone looks aaint everything it's the quality of the product that counts and IV been completely satisfied every time

I would give this store a zero star review when I went (July 31 2022) the fish tanks were incredibly dirty and there was a Axolotl in the worst condition I’ve ever seen one in the hamsters had a infection from an injury from fighting the others (and they were fighting each other while I was there bc of how small the tank was, holding around 15 of them) none of the rodents had water and I had to tell the employees to help them every cage/tank for the rodents (hamsters, mice, rats, Guinea pigs, and gerbils) were not only the wrong size but also had nothing in there for them that they needed I asked the employees and told them about the injured animals and they said it’s normal for them to fight because they’re aggressive (they’re hamsters they’re territorial!!) I do not recommend buying animal live animal here

The animals here are lethargic and the living spaces are incredibly dirty. A turtle had an extreme case of shell rot and all animals looked to be mistreated. I was so depressed upon walking into the store. I wish the animals were taken care of better. Everything is just dingy and dirty. I hope it gets closed down for the sake of the animals. It can’t be healthy for humans or animals.

Fish selection is horrible all fish tanks are dirty nasty prices are high on there supplies that they do have there was a bunch of stuff that should have been taken off the shelves due to outdated. Had a lot of fish that was died in the tanks. I would never recommend this place to no one not even my dog. It would not let me give it a zero Stars so I had to pick one star and I wouldnt even give them that.. I went in to this store on 10-28-18.

Purchase fish from this place many times had no issues and Andrew was very helpful also have made fish swaps several times and was pleased with the deals and Quality of fish i received. Would recommend them over any of the big fish retail stores. Not many real petshops left in the area anymore.

I used to love this place when I was little, I enjoyed being in the presents of such amazing creatures. but as I got older I wanted a job there, after realizing how gross and unclean the animals and there tanks and cages were, I wanted to help and clean them, so they could get a better name for there store, but as I went to my enterview, the manager had asked my reasoning for wanting to work there, he simply denied me and said my service was not needed at the time. THIS STORE DOES NOT WANT HELP, EITHER THEY STOP SELLING ANIMALS OR BE SHUT DOWN.

So sad to see what g&m has become. Used to be one of my favorite places to shop. Now its trashy, plants range from decent to dead. The fish department is embarrassing compared to the past. I would love to see someone clean the place up and put pride back into the place. Prices are ridiculous.

I was at G&M today and experienced horrible customer service. I spoke with Andrew yesterday about surrendering my 4 fish that we no longer wanted. After telling him the species, he agreed. I asked him if he was open the following day, which is today, and he said yes. I also requested some fish bags so that I could transport my fish to the store and he gave me two. When my husband and I arrived today with our fish, the three employees who were standing at the register talking only turned to stare at us. I asked if Andrew was there. The man behind the counter told us no. I told him that we spoke with Andrew yesterday and that he agreed to take our fish. The man said we would have to come back another time and laughed at us. I explained that Andrew knew we were coming in today and the man said that they were not going to accept our fish. My husband suggested giving Andrew a call and the man said he wasn't going to call him on his day off. So we were treated rudely, laughed at and inconvenienced, not to mention our fish's lives were jeopardized having to transport them for over an hour. They didn't even seem apologetic that at the very least there was a "misunderstanding". Totally unacceptable for a small business that I wanted to support.

I wouldn’t of given one star but it wouldn’t let me make a comment without doing so me and my father both bought fish from this location and literally killed everything in two 55 gallon tanks I will never again shop at this location. The only thing I can say good for the location is at the people were friendly that is it .

The lady showed me mouth wash for dogs. Said it was safe and everyone loved it. Gave some to my dog and he had a seizure from it, took him to the vet and had to spend 400 dollars.
