We've canoed in the Mongo area before but this is the first time we went with Trading Post Outfitters. They have a clean and well kept facility. Andy and Jessica were friendly and super helpful and my family greatly enjoyed our time on the river. Thank you guys for the warm hospitality!

Excellent staff and service, I did my reservation on their website, walked in to check-in at appointment time and I was on the water within 10 minutes. Equipment was all in good condition, the waterway was cleared of all fallen trees and I was picked up within 15 minutes of calling at the pickup point at the end of the trip. I've been on multiple trips that they offer and it has always been worth it.

My friends and I come here every single year for my birthday! This year we had 24 people in our group. We love it! The campground is peaceful and never overcrowded! All of the staff is so friendly they make you feel like family! From the receptionist to the bus driver to the security to the people that help load and unload you from the water, they are all amazing! Always a great time at the trading post!

Trading Post Outfitters is a little bit out of the way but on the recommendation of a friend we made the trek and it was definitely worth it. The staff is very helpful and all of the kayaks we had were in good working order. The facility is neat and orderly with clean bathrooms and lots of changing stalls. There are two kayaking options, we took the west section which leads away from the Trading Post. We plan to come back and do the east section as well. The river itself is beautiful, with a good current and the water is very clear. We saw lots of fish in it and a couple of otters as well.

Fun place for a canoe trip on the Pigeon River. They rent canoes and kayaks and bus you out to the drop off point. The best part for me is that the river takes you right back to the campground and they do all the clean up of the boats and stuff so it's a nice experience for the family and parties alike.

We kayak here at least once a year and have done both “routes”. The River is beautiful and it’s not difficult to navigate. You do have to portage on each route though. Some are longer than others so ask about that. Piece of advice… keep your phone in the waterproof box!!The family who owns this place are really great. We love it. Make a reservation tho. 😀

Been going to Trading Post for about five years now and I’ve got to give this place its due praise and compliments. From the overall serenity of the place, the welcoming staff with smiling faces, ready to assist you in whatever comes their way. To the canoe/kayaking adventures….always a blast!This year we were celebrating not only a birthday for a young one but it was also their first time camping. The bar was set high for him with the expectations and boy did they live up to them!!! From the last minute arrangements, all the way to the overall safety of the campground, it was a phenomenal first time! It wasn’t very busy and because of that we were able to let the young ones explore a little bit more than if it had been busier. (We definitely felt safe in doing so.) The kayaking expedition was a little chilly but not enough to keep us from having a great time!Needless to say I am super pumped to be coming back in late July for another great time!!!By golly I love this place!!! 😍😎🛶⛺️😀

Been coming for many years with a big group. Quiet hours are 11PM which seems early for being campground full of people trying to have a good time on a weekend. Quiet hours for the owners also mean, no talking and go to bed.Staff is super friendly though and the river is a good time

Great place to come to. beautiful views. lazy river. Wish they had water at the campsite. Glad I have 26 gallon tank. The lack of water at the campsites would not stop me from returning. Awesome place just need to have plenty of water containers. Filling and dumping station on site.

My family and I went kayaking on a Tuesday to the Nasby Dam. It was a slow paced, quiet day. We really enjoyed the peace and the beauty. Booking an appointment was easily done on line. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed meeting one of the Trading Post’s newest (dog) members, Potato. Next time we will pack a lunch and try a longer trip.

Trading Post always goes above and beyond for their campers! Kayaking with them, camping with them, our friends have been going once a year for 5 years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Staff and service is top notch! All the campers are friendly, beautiful shaded sites, always have fun food trucks coming in, and all around great place! Pet friendly, and reservations online is a plus too!

Nothing negative to say about this place. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, and they work really hard to efficiently manage all of the visitors. We had a moderately sized group and everyone arrived at different times, a few after business hours, and they handled it perfectly. The campground itself offers very spacious lots, plenty of shade, and the kayaks were in great shape. We’ll definitely be back! Just maybe when it’s a bit cooler.

We love Trading Post! The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. The river is clean and shallow yet flows nicely, making it an ideal location for kids and dogs! The campground is also clean and is family and dog friendly. We have visited more than once and will definitely be back!

Really great folks here give you all the instruction you needed and got you set up with a kayak and a ride to the launch. They were very efficient and fairly priced.

The absolute best place to go!!! We plan trips every year with our family, groups of friends and sometimes just a quick weekend getaway. The new owners have really outdone themselves and the entire place is amazing! Camping is fantastic, kayak/canoe experiences are fantastic everything is. Trust me, come and enjoy an afternoon on pigeon river you won’t regret it!

Had an absolutely fantastic dads & kids weekend here. Staff are awesome - approachable, knowledgeable, and clearly love what they do. Grounds are well kept with a very sweet little store that carries all the essentials. There's a new playground, a catch & release pond, and lots of open space to throw a football or frisbee so the kids always had something to do.Launch for the river was fast and efficient, and pick up was a immediate when we finished. All of the rental gear was in good shape.My only suggestion, and it's definitely not enough to drop a star, is to remodel and expand the bath house. With only two toilets and two showers, they get hammered on a daily basis and are really showing their age.Thank you Jess and team for an unforgettable trip!

This is the best place to come kayak & canoe. Or if you want to camp, theres several spot just call ahead and make sure what your looking for is available.. We have our on kayaks and vehicles but have rented several times from the Trading Post Canoe Kayak campgrounds .. They have wonderful staff.. And great opportunity to enjoy this beautiful place. Make sure you get a dry box so you're valuables dont end up down pegion river.. Dont for get to get some Souvenirs in there store when you get off the water or before.. Please be safe always.. And don't for get what you take in you need to take out.. Help keep our water clean... Hope to see you all down river!

The Trading Post in Mongo, IN, is a perfect provider of equipment and transportation for an afternoon on the Pigeon River. Three trips are available, each with transportation back to the car each hour. Staff is friendly and competent. Delightful afternoon.

The trading post is the best camping experience I've ever had. I always enjoy camping with my grandpa. We love going down the river. I will be coming back every year. I love the staff they are so friendly.

Best canoeing company in northern Indiana. Been coming here for years. The staff goes out of their way to make it possible for my handicapped son to enjoy the river. short and longer routes available. Good gear and a beautiful river.

We did the Nasby Dam our first trip which was a nice and scenic trip. This year we did the Curtis Creek trip and truly enjoyed the added challenge and swifter water after our portage around Nasby Dam. There was even a short little rapids to go through to add a little excitement. The bogs weren't bad at all. We did notice a couple of us had to deal with a few more bugs than the others, especially with the dear flies. Our bus driver at the end told us that wearing white or light clothes is best since the dear flies are attracted to the dark colors. Based on which ones drew more flies he was right. Everyone at the Trading Post couldn't have been nicer. We'll definitely be back!
