My hometown market that supports our residents, with hometown service. You don't see stockpeople helping you to your car in the chain stores. To save ourselves we must support ma and pa operations. Hope people realize we need to step back and truly evaluate our needs. I personally like the occasional service I need.

Best meat department in town, see steak photos. Lots of great fresh products in produce for camping, like corn on the cob in a bag, the potatoes all set to microwave, salad bags, and fruit bowls. Shiskabobs in photo were from Al's butcher case, superb!I like how easy it is to get in and out of the store, no long walk and easy to pull RV into parking lot.Displays on deal items are well stocked, and overall the store is very appealing! Also, the staff are very nice there too! (All the food pictured was from Al's.)

My recent shopping experience at Al's Supermarket on Franklin St was generally satisfactory, but it did have its ups and downs. The store's pricing strategy was a significant downside. Certain items, like a bag of frozen veggies costing nearly $5, were noticeably more expensive compared to typical grocery store prices. While Al's Supermarket does run reasonable specials, their full-price items seem to be priced above the norm. For the budget-conscious shopper, this could be a deterrent. However, the supermarket makes up for its high prices with excellent customer service. Unlike some larger retailers in the area that primarily rely on self-checkout systems, Al's Supermarket boasts a generous number of helpful cashiers and baggers, ensuring a smooth and pleasant checkout experience. Yet, for those who prefer the convenience, self-checkout options are also available. The store's deli and bakery sections are worth a special mention. Their offerings are so delectable that I would definitely make a special trip just for them. However, when it comes to everyday grocery needs, I find myself gravitating towards other, more affordable options.

Very good prices. Great fried chicken in the deli! Most days I don't have to wait long when checking out.

I used to get their square lemon torte cake for my birthday. I ordered it special this year but when I went to pick it up, it was round. I figured fine no big deal. But when we cut it, I was so disappointed that I swore I'd only buy from Kroger. There was barely any lemon except for on top,we literally took it apart hoping for a decent layer of lemon. Then my daughters bought a strawberry torte and it was no better. Pricey unsatisfactory experience all the way around. I'll bake cakes instead from now on.

Prices were absolutely sky high. 8.99 for the same size heavy cream I buy elsewhere for 4.79-5.29. This pricing was pretty much the same for most staple items I looked at.

Al's is the best when it comes to customer service. They always have registers open with a human working them and a bagger for your groceries..No 1099 tax forms needed when you shop at al's...

Saved the day I needed kings Hawaiian bread dinner rolls. Called a few stores and everyone was out. But Al's had alot of them 🤯 maybe because they were $6.59 a pacakage🤔

I was "side eyed" for using WIC with anyone at the cashout line, and there is no WIC, EBT, or Senior discount added to self checkout. Our last visit, Tricia rang us out with the utmost respect and understanding when certain items weren't eligible. A big thanks to her and Robin for always being patient with us and our children.

Al's has products nobody else has. I will give them that. The stores are always very well maintained, stocked etc. The meat at Al's is second to none in the area, and it's a well known fact. The deli and bakery options of homemade sandwiches such as the gyro sandwich, dips, side dishes dishes loaded baked potato salad, pasta like teriyaki chicken and much more. The downside is that you will be paying for all this extra(ness). And it will not be limited to those items. Seemingly everything in the store is marked up, to the top floor. For example, Dean's 12 pk. of ice cream sandwiches is 6.99. While the 24pk. is 16.99. I'm thinking what am I missing here? First off, the same quality 12pk. of the same item at Walmart is 2.99. But let's say I'm not a Walmart shopper. Isn't more quantity supposed to drop the price? Not nearly triple it? That's not typical, but the highway prices are. If it's worth it that will depend on the individual shopper. I'm still there, so evidently my opinion is yup.

This is a less hectic place to shop but prices on some things are a little off the charts. Limited produce but they do carry Langers Apple Juice-yay!

I haven't been in this store in a couple years as I now live some distance away. I was highly impressed by the recent changes to the store! Tried some chicken tenders from the deli and they were fantastic. Prices seem very reasonable and I would definitely shop here more often if I lived closer.

Love their meat and the deli. I think they are the best in LaPorte. Some things are overpriced, but you're dealing with a mom and pop operation, and they end up paying more for their products than the big box stores.

We needed snacks and trash bags. They were open so we stopped. We were on a vacation but they were clean and easily shopped as well as friendly and kind.

I quite liked this little grocery store. I'm not from the area, so I was unfamiliar to this grocery chain. It kind of reminded me of a Kroger or Martin's Supermarket. I'm sure I'll return for future purchases if I'm out that way.

I have gone to Al's in MC since I was A little child and he opened his first store on Michigan St. It was as always... Great people, great variety and quality of products, great service, AND a picture of "THE" Al Pontius!! I love traveling to MC and shopping at Al's!

It's more expensive than the rest of the grocery store is in town, but it's within walking distance so it's often worth the investment.

I've been here before when visiting my sister in MC. It's a good store but can be pricey on some things. The liquor section is big with great selections in wine. The meat department is very good with nice cuts of meat. The bakery dept is good too!! They have senior discounts on Thursday with their card. If you don't have one, just go to the main desk and they'll set you up with one!

If you have the ability to go here, please do. There is no reason to support the rotten Wal...t or one of the big chains. The selection is incredible and the staff very friendly and helpful.
