Very old store and could use some outside updates. Inside it was laid out like most all dollar generals. Shelves were decently stocked but were lacking on plastic tubs which is what i needed. Cashier was very nice but only had one and was backed up. Also not sure how to do a return so that slowed line down also.

Showed up at 9 when their hours state they’re open until 10, and the doors locked. Tried to call for 15 mins and the line was “in use” the entire time so clearly someone was present. This isn’t the first time this has happened. They close 1 or 2 hours early and had not note in the indie or anything explaining why they were closed so early compared to the posted hours. What a joke.

Four stars is a pretty good rating for a dollar store. Lots of stuff in a small space, some of it is worth the price, some is watered down garbage. But, hey, that's what corporate sends them on the truck. Staff was kind and helpful. This is the only dry goods place on the lower level of town other than the Circle K.

I'm in the downtown Dollar General at least once a day because I live and work right next to it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store usually has pretty much everything I need. If you're looking for basics (cleaning supplies, shampoo, canned goods, paper products, etc.) then this is the best place to get them downtown (maybe the only place?). They do have a very limited range of merchandise, but you can get refrigerated and frozen food, party supplies, some small exercise equipment, candles, and coloring books. For items like home decor and clothing or anything seasonal, the Dollar General on Clifty Drive has a much larger selection.

This store has the potential to be great. But they don't restock well. I'm guessing because they don't pay well enough to keep anyone there. Being one of a few retail places in a small town, they could easily corner the market if they would try.

walked in trying to find a swimming pool for my daughter the lovely cashier informed me they didnt have in season stock but suggested a sister store in Milton and I found one. Great customer service. I didnt get her name but she has short red burgundy hair.

The people that work there are there for you. Home town proud and very friendly. So be nice to these people that work here for you and for themselves. They are only allowed so many employees. So bare with them . They work hard just like you and I. RESPECT FOR THE EMPLOYEES AT THE D.G. STORE.. It's the only DG store down here in the valley...

If I could do negative I would. I coupon and they were super strict on them. The coupon matched exactly and two managers had to verify it before they took it. I have never been treated so bad.

This is not the store fault the downtown Madison has but one store for the public and this store has just been over ran and it worth with all that going on the store has been close a few day bc they can't keep workers the stock hasn't been stocked on shelves it still in the delivery cart you can't get around in the bc of them its really bad i hope now the city of Madison will see the need and push harder

Just about anything you want that you could find it a bigger grocery store, you can find in the Dollar General store.... Last pair of socks have a hole in them? I curious to why this location is shut down so often, supposedly due to the computerized cash register not working?!? My family and I have tried to shop there because it's a convenient location have had to leave due to not being able to pay or check out! Can management answer this concern?!?

It's a new store and they are still trying to get it stocked. I'm sure in a week or two it will be great. There starting to set up to compete with Walmart is what was told.

No Stars! This place is a dump. If it wasn't the only place downtown to get Milk, bread, chips and pop no one would go there. Get your Dollar Store Sign fixed and some lights outside. It made me put one star to post so minus 6 stars.

One of the worst dollar stores I've ever been to most up is out of stock or they reorder it so low employees are very nice but it's hard to find what you're looking for when there out on the shelf

Doesn't look like a Dollar General from the outside, but once you're inside it is laid out like all the others with similar merchandise. Parking is available along the alley on the north side of the building.
