On our trips to Shipshewana, we would always make it a point to stop at El Paraiso to enjoy their delicious street food style of cooking. Their fresh, homemade tortilla chips were absolutely the best. This most recent trip (5/19/22) we were very surprised to see the store change hands to La Conchita. Everything was rearrange and different. We asked if they still served food and they said yes. The look of the restaurant area was completely different. There were no menus, either printed or posted, for us to view. A woman, who could not speak English, tried to take our drink orders, but had to send someone else who could communicate with us. The English-speaking woman told us that they were still getting things in order and were going to have a menu posted (soon?). We were served chips and salsa, however they were not the homemade ones we craved. They looked like something that came from a food service. My wife ordered 2 tacos and ended up getting 3. I ordered a chorizo burrito only to have pieces of steak mixed in that I didn't want. It also had some sort of mayonnaise-type sauce in it that made it taste strange. The beans and rice were horribly bland and off-color of what typical rice and beans look like. I actually never seen rice and beans like these before. In summary, we were very disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. It was subpar and unacceptable.And to top it off, they didn't have horchata. What Mexican restaurant doesn't have horchata? El Paraiso always had horchata.Our experience at this new, revamped place left us very disheartened, saddened and disappointed. Unfortunately, we will be removing this place from our list of stops and won't be returning ever again.

I didn't get what I ordered. Parts of the order that I did get were missing.but the coke was good.I will not go there again. Sorry I can do better. Our money is to valuable to be given to people that don't even try to do the right thing.

I can only give three stars because there was no sauce or cheese on the enchiladas, also shells were not corn soaked in enchiladas sauce and warmed in oil,they just used flour shells with no sauce or cheese on top, not what I had my heart set on, the enchiladas had good flavour and I enjoyed the food just had to open and heat up our own enchiladas sauce that we luckily had in pantry. Good flavour, just lacking in completing the dish correctly.I will not let this stop me from returning and giving them another chance to get it right, like I said, good flavour just not prepared correctly.I raised it to 4 stars after returning and eating inside instead of getting it to go, this time prepared correctly and tasted great, the only reason I did not give it five stars is because the way the girl that took my order at the counter acted like she really didn't want to take my order or even talk to me, needs to show more enthusiasm about being working here.I will still be back to eat here again and if you are reading this you should go give them a try.I love the tables and chairs in this place, I have never seen tables and chairs like this before, pretty cool.I am hoping next visit deserves 5 stars

Horrible service. Fajita meat and veggies were dry, beans were soupy and the rice was cold. I did enjoy the can of Pepsi.No one greeted us when we walked in. Took 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge we were there. Then, they decided to say not nice things about my son in Spanish. Too bad I knew what they were saying. We will never go back!!!

The lighting has been broken in dining area for over 3 years nowI cannot be the only person who sees this as a comfortabolity issue... I have a seizure disorder and can not be exposed to blinking lights so I avoid going into the prison in Ligonier but I miss there food ... they have a great restaurant so hopefully the owner will receive more feed back and fix the light

Love the tacos but the restaurant needs a good cleaning, almost makes it hard to sit there and want to eat when you notice how dirty the place is. Could use better waitresses, the cook finally came and took our order after the waitress walked past us at least 4 times in 20 minutes.*UPDATED*Decided we are no longer eating here. Place is getting worse and just plain disgusting on how very unclean it is...can imagine what's crawling around there at night time when they are closed. The service used to be good but now it's like they don't care for customers or something...not fast with service at all and rude. And to be honest about it, who likes going to a restraunt and 20 minutes later wondering if they even know your there, you feel they haven't even seen you yet.We use to go there every time we went through Ligonier, not no more!! It's disgusting and terrible service...

If I could give this place negative stars I would.It smelled horrible when we walked in. Salsa taste like old ketchup. The food tastes horrible and smelled disgusting. I took my food home and went to take a bit, giving it a second chance. THANK GOD I LOOKED AT MY FORK. THERE WAS A TINY FISH BODY IN MY GROUND BEEF BURRITO.

I drove about 22 miles to get some Hispanic food called gorditas and I'm disappointed in them.Somebody told me they sold the store and restaurant.But six months ago I would have given them 5 out of five for their gorditas

service was only ok, the chips were cold, the restaurant itself’s was very dirty and the lights kept flickering which was kinda freaky to me, and to top it off when I finally got my tacos there was clearly hair in it from the cooks beard 🤢 I won’t be coming back here
