My family and I took a trip to critter corner last weekend. The conditions of these poor animals, especially the reptiles, are disgusting! You aren't supposed to house more than 1 beardie in a terrarium, but you guys thought it was a good idea to house 2 in a tank with a completely different bread of reptile. There was a large iguana in a tank that very clearly wasn't big enough for it. All the reptiles looked miserable. They all had bugs crawling on them. This place should be shut down. It is absolutely ridiculous that they are getting away with treating animals this way.

My husband & I stopped into Critter Corner just to see what they had. We found several options & of course left with a female Aussie poo. The staff answered all our questions & helped us leave w exactly what we needed. The pens were clean and no unpleasant odor. The puppies were all very bright eyed and bushy tailed while chomping at the bit for a new home. Pat does a good job of maintaining a large variety of pets in a store with a low ceiling. I hope you go and form your own opinion of Critter Corner. Meet the delightful staff, especially Hannah.

the snakes have all sorts of problems, parasites and scale rot. when i got mine i didn’t get any info on him or when he ate. he looked very slim but i didn't say anything about it. a month or so goes by and i finally got all the snake mites off of him but he still wasn’t eating. i kept trying to feed him but he didn't bother. he started to go into shedding a bit after and that’s why i figured he wasn’t eating so i left him. a week later, which is now, i am laying in bed next to my tank and i see him twitching out of the corner of my eye but i thought he just tapped his nose on something and jerked back so i didn't think much of it. one minute later i look at him and he’s not breathing laying upside down. i had a feeling this was going to happen but i didn’t want to give up on him. don’t get ANYTHING here trust me.

I recently visited this shop with my cousin along with one other who LOVES animals but boy was it bad. Not only do the animals look mistreated but also certain ones are over crowded and fish tanks are filled with algae along with other bacterias as well. We also noticed how some fish looked short of breath and were breathing faster than they normally should be breathing. One honestly just looked dead and wasn't moving at all not even a little, this place was just over all just terrible we ended up just leaving because we couldn't stand the neglect the animals are taking.

This shop is full of animal neglect, especially for reptiles. Many species with varying needs are housed in the same enclosures with no hides or substrate and are left to die if no one pays their outrageous prices for them. If you were to buy a reptile here they would most likely have something horribly wrong with them and be on deaths door. They causally had an anaconda which is a semi aquatic snake that very few people would have the ability to properly care for along with other snakes that get way bigger than most people can reasonably handle. They are just hoping that people with no knowledge of these animals come in and impulse buy them. They had a dead baby ball python right on display along with others trying to hide under each other. It’s straight up neglect and cruelty to keep obtaining these animals and treating them this way.

I got a puppy for ($900) on sale and my total came up to be over $1100 !!! She gave me some paperwork stating which shots the puppy will need, and when she will need them, But no papers that the puppy was registered no papers that the puppy has been dewormed no information whatsoever. She hands me the puppy in the paperwork, swipes my card for over $1100 and gives me the most expensive food for the puppy that the puppy never even touched when I got her home. Not to mention the fact that I got the puppy and it ended up coughing and sneezing all the way to my house so I took the puppy to the vet and it had kennel cough!!!!! So now I’m stuck with an $800 vet bill And a sick puppy that got the rest of my pets sick. So I have four dogs total and all of them have kennel cough now if you take 800 and times that by four have to pay $3500 just to get my puppies treated for this. She didn’t even tell me what shot she needed. She’s just told me what shots that the puppy already had.. What if I didn’t know what I was doing? What if I was a first time puppy Buyer? Very unorganized, very unprofessional. I’m not as happy as I thought I would be. All of this because I wanted to get my daughter an emotional support puppy

This place is a whole experience. We went there to look and learn about birds before we decide. All of our questions were answered honestly. They entertained our children with all sorts of animals and information while we did our inquiring. There is a huge array of juvenile and subadult tarantulas. We will most definitely be back, and we live 1.5 hrs away. We saw Quaker, Indian ringneck, and Amazon parrots, conures, macaws, love birds, cockatiels and parakeets, alligators, lizards, snakes, new and old world tarantulas, frogs, puppies, ferrets, chinchillas, bunnies and more.

If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would…NEVER EVER, EVER AGAIN WILL I SUPPORT your FAULTY CRUEL STORE! So behind this bold statement is because I was shopping for a tortoise because I’ve always wanted one so I chose him in July and he was alright for a few weeks then started to develop a sickness and later passed today. I was told he’s in good health and everything like that I was then sold on things he is not supposed to eat such as IGUANA PELLETS. Yes you read that right IGUANA PELLETS for a TORTOISE!! Moral of the story their animals are mistreated, malnourished and they will LIE to you STRAIGHT UP! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY FROM THIS POORLY RAN ESTABLISHMENT🗑️💔

Critter corner is by far the filthiest pet store I've ever been in. If not for it being the only pet store within two hours drive where I can get live feeder mice, I would refuse to bring any business at all.All of the animals are in the poorest conditions I've ever actually seen, however I'd say the snakes are perhaps taken care of the worst. Covered in visible mites, stuffed in tiny containers, with scale rot and malnutrition.Their reptile section is the most depressing thing I've seen all bloody week, and my cat died three days ago. So that's saying something.

We bought a puppy on January 29th,2024 and he had a seizure the next morning and tested positive for parvo on January 30th,2024. The vet bill is $3,000+ and we asked if they would help pay because they didn’t inform us of him being sick before we purchased him. We spent over 3 hours in the vet getting tests ran on him, the final test showed he had parvo. The owner told us that he would give us our money back and we could keep the puppy or get our money back and give back the puppy and he would “take care of it” so we obviously kept the puppy because we know what “take care of it” means.

it’s was very very dirty, they had alligators in a 20 gallon tank and not just a few like 20 of them right as u walk in. then i went to there reptile area all the animals were very stressed out by the birds that were yelling. and then i went to the fish area and bought a asked the lady if she could help me and she said “the dude in that door” said employees only. was very upset then i bought a baby red tail cat and it was in a 10 gallon tank and has ick so bad it barely made the 15 min drive home. very bad experience for me and i won’t be bad.

In the last 4 yrs I have purchased 2 dogs. They are wonderful. The place is not the cleanest. But the price for pets are reasonable. The staff is friendly.

I am appalled and sickened by the treatment of the animals, especially the snakes, here. It is clear that the business doesn’t actually care about their animals’ quality of life, and perhaps don’t even know how to properly take care of them. I’d be interested to know how many of these snakes have died before being purchased. Never EVER support this store. Abhorrent conditions.

Great selection of animals and reptiles. Has an odor floors need to be swept and mopped. Bearded dragons are on loose substrate which will cause bowel impaction. Great place to take kids to “Mini Zoo“ feeders are expensive but okay if you run out from online sellers.

I left this establishment in tears… every single creature in that store is living in unsanitary condition. Lizards overrun with crickets, fish is such dirty water is settles on them leaving them looking dusty. Every single glass cage was dirty. Looked to be 15 baby mouse in one small boxes in area. The baby alligators have barely any room to turn around. I wouldn’t even trust this company to change I think they need investigated, fined & all currently animals need to go to rehabilitation/sanctuary’s where they can be checked for illness & given proper care. Truly appalling. All of you customers should look into animal care so you can too be aware that the Critter Corner standards are extremely poor. It’s animal abuse

So there is a lot to say about this place that I don’t like first they got bigger reptiles in extremely small tanks. 2 they have different reptiles with each other for example anaconda with like 4 Burmese python I get they get along but that’s way to many 3 I drove a hour and half to this place to see sadness the manager was extremely rude I asked to hold a animal she didn’t look my way or anything she just said no and walked away extremely rude in my opinion some reptiles looked not healthy I work at a exotic pet store years ago and the way they do things definitely not the right way definitely don’t recommend this place at all

We used to come here alot but quit maybe a year ago. It has gone so down hill. Went back again today, seen tons of wet chinchillas, with open wounds on there backs infected. Over crowded bird enclosures, and fish. None of the reptiles had proper care. There prices are 3 times more than they should be on animals, and they. Are all sick or have scabs and open wounds. This place needs shut down for animal abuse!

I was planning to buy $25 worth of fish before speaking to a friendly and polite employee (Colt). I had ultimately decided to purchase $60 of fish because of his help in the store but was choosing which cichlids I wanted. When I went to ask him to grab the fish for me, I saw a different employee instead. She was very rude, and mentioned several times that she was the manager. She turned the $60 sale into $0 and a customer who will not return.

Today was my first time here. And to say I am disappointed, is a complete understatment.Overcrowded tanks for the fish. Bunnies had absolutely no room to move around bc there were so many in such a small fish tank. On the counter there were stacks of plastic enclosures with frogs in them.And the staff was super under educated about anything we asked, didn't seem very friendly at all.Overall just a super bad first impression. We will not be returning.

This place is ridiculous. They have snakes that are really under fed shouldn't be able to see the spines in a snake there's some that have layers of stuck sheds over the ball pythons eyes. There's birds in 5 gallon tanks in there. Over crowded with mice and rats. This place used to be great when I was growing up. Now they can't even take care of the snakes and other animals like they should be

Very horrible. Very under fed python Very skinny like all there snakes. This one has at least 3 sheds stuck a Resptory infection beginning mouth rot and mites for $90 I told them I wasn't leaving without her because I know I can get her back to health. The owner wouldn't go less then $80 B.S money I'd more important then keeping your animals healthy and alive? I'll upload photos.

The store has improved, but not by much. Still smells like animal feces, but that's better than the rotting flesh smell it had before. The animals do not look healthy and it's questionable rather some of the animals are even legal to sell, as I've never seen them in any other pet store. The aquarium area is the nice part of the store, and it is often overcrowded and some pricing is too high while others are reasonable. The staff is practically non-existent. Just jobbers who don't care rather they sell or not, and mostly just hide in back rooms. If you're looking for something unique you may find it here. If you're looking to go to a strange place and see exotic animals that not even zoos have, you may find it here. If you're looking for puppies in a fish tank, you'll find it here. If you want a humane, clean store with staff that cares and wants to sell products, and Interact with you, there's other pet stores.

Drove almost 3 hours and believe me it was well worth the drive from Chicago. I read some bad reviews on this place and don't know why? Clean and a good variety on reptiles, fish and animals. The employees we're nice and really had knowledge on different types of questions I had. I bought a tiger shovelnose catfish he's about 10inches and in really good shape. Thanks and hope to make another trip out there soon, thanks Critter corner for your service.💪💪💪

I stopped by while in town just for fun. I wish I never stepped foot in there. It stunk so bad like feces, and unkept enclosures. Way too many birds in the same cage, very large lizards in small tanks, most bird cages had tons of dust and cobwebs covering the insides of them, puppies that were kept in walled in cubbies that had wire gates that the puppies were chewing and eating through. No toys, no food or water bowls in the areas either. One puppy was tiny and by itself behind a clear window and was laying in a dim, dingy kennel on a wet towel, and looked sickly and lethargic. Full bowl of food and water, looked to be untouched. Many rodents were in cages that were laying on the floor. Many dead fish in tanks, especially gold fish and smaller guppies and feeder fish which had so many dead fish stuck to the filter intakes you could not even see the intake itself. Many fish stuck to the intakes were decayed. Everything in the store looked to have dust and grime on it, appearing to just not be cleaned or maintained at all. There are so many animals in this store, puppies, tortoises, snakes, frogs, spiders, rats, guinea pigs, chinchillas, birds, fish, it seems like most are not taken care of and are just put in this store so hopefully some unaware person comes by and finds something they want. Especially due to the prices they have everything marked at. Most look sick and neglected. It was hard leaving the animals in that horrible store, I wanted nothing more than to take at least one of those puppies home, but I would never give them any money or support.
