The staff here is so kind and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy and as someone with social and generalized anxiety, I still felt at home here, which was nice. I'd much rather do my business here than a large chain pet store. The animals are well cared for and happy, and there is just a warmth that surrounds this place that makes you want to do repeat business. Also, the prices are absolutely amazing! I can't wait to go back to get some fish, and let my girls see the birds I was admiring!

I bought a lamb from here She was fine for a few days Then within 2 weeks she pass away me and my family are very heart broken! 💔 we seen her as part of our family we did everything we took her to the vet they couldn't figure out what was going on she did have a fever It's not anything that we did for her to be so sick We are very disappointed 😥 and we will definitely miss her deep down 😔 I just can't understand what happened Maybe she was sick with something when we bought her and just never showed it till a week later I don't know but it hurts!

I love something fishy! I brought treats for my dog, and he absolutely loved them. The store is well maintained and the staff is great! I love the variety of animals that are available to purchase. I just wish I lived closer. I have never met someone who loved animals more then the owner and her staff. Keep up the good work!

Very nice place, easily accessible. Bought younger chickens. Very healthy and well cared for. I looked at the other animals and unlike most pet shops, all the animals looked well cared for and loved. I bought 6 chickens and they act more like pets than chickens. I've never bought chickens that loved attention so much. I will definitely be back, and very highly recommend!

I have been here many times, i drive close to 2 hours from Chicago, Illinois to come to this shop. I have been in contact with them through Facebook to see if rats are available, they have held rats for me for over a week and I came and picked them up. They have great homemade rat food for my pet rats, my rats love the food! The workers here taught me a lot of information on my rats and the fish and frog I have gotten from here. They are doing great! I got my hairless rats from here and have had no issues. I will continue to come to this shop & this is the only shop I do go to from now on. Pricing is great & they have a lot of cool stuff in here. It is worth the drive! :) Thank you for the great service! See ya soon!

I like the store. Honestly, I really love that someone thought to open a pet store in the area. I also love that they've got handmade pet supplies, homemade pet foods, and the option to purchase used cages, tanks, and such. If you're looking for something that they don't carry, they may still be willing to order what you're wanting if you ask. I love small businesses, especially when it's a business that benefits the community. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to get my pets whatever they need two miles away instead of 30. I have nothing bad to say about Something Fishy and have had a good experience each time I've visited the store aside from one small incident. I went to buy a pet rat. The girl who helped me was young and had just started working there. I showed her the size I was looking at, she pulled the tank down, grabbed one out, boxed it up, and was off to the cash register. I was a little caught off guard by how she didn't bother asking if I had my eye on a specific rat or sex, but didn't complain because the one she grabbed was a very cute dumbo rat. I get home and put it in with my other two boys and they just went crazy! Talk about some horn-balls...They wouldn't leave the poor girl alone. Needless to say, I put her in a separate cage until the following day when I could take her back and exchange her for a male. It was hard for me because I really liked her but I've got a very expensive cage setup and no room to setup another one. I hated taking her back because I know a lot of them end up being snake food. Oddly enough when I took her back, we searched through the entire tank and only found one male...which is pretty unusual...I knew it was the girls first day and she probably assumed it was a feeder rat and didn't think to ask if I had a preference and the woman the following day was very helpful and apologetic. Definitely check this place out before going to a big brand store like PetSmart...you find what you're looking for and at a better price. Not to mention helping out a small business.

I’ve gotten my pet ratto from there! The prices for everything is astronomical! But, they wouldn’t let me hold him before i bought him to make sure he wouldn’t bite, nor did they tell me how old he was or his gender. Sadly Reggie passed away this past Friday. Other than that. Something fishy is a great place to buy essentials for you pets, as well as a pet!

Angela is awesome. She's always helpful, always cleaning,feeding animals, and never standing around. She really knows her stuff and can answer all of the questions I have ever had. I would recommend this store to anyone. As a matter of fact I have recommended this store.

We bought 2 dwarf rabbits from there for my boys birthdays. They had great customer service. They showed us around and pointed out which ones were which breeds and let my kids hold them to see if they were sure that was the ones they wanted. They are adorable rabbits and my kids love them! Thank you so much will definitely recommend to everyone I know!

Clean store, probably the best smelling pet store I've ever been in.The staff member who greeted me wasn't very friendly. Maybe she was in a bad mood, I'm not sure. Made me feel like I was intruding so I left soon after."No photos allowed in store - NO EXCEPTIONS" signs EVERYWHERE around the store. I mean, since the store was clean and all animals appeared well/fed/clean, it wasn't a big red flag but I went inside to see the last German Shepherd puppy they have but was unable to send a photo to my husband who was at work (as this pet store doesn't stay open past 5 p.m.).Left without purchasing anything - ducks in parking lot were friendly though.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They had a good variety of animals and fish. There were several discus fish which aren’t carried very often by local pet stores. With the good said, it’s time for the bad. They seemed to be overrun with rabbits and rodents. So many that it seemed they had trouble keeping up with the maintenance of the animals. The store smelled and there were cobwebs and spiders hanging from the ceiling. In their tanks the fish were in water with dead fish that were either floating or sucked against the intake of the filter. The chickens they had inside were pecking each other and causing feather loss. This may be caused from boredom since there were no “toys” in the pin or irritation since they were in such close quarters. This behavior should be stopped immediately and they should be given more space. Chickens will become canabalistic if the problem is not taken care of. I DID see the staff cleaning, but with so many animals and only 2 of them everything isn’t going to get clean the way it should every time.

The state of this store is awful. The clerk was rude. I don't enjoy posting bad reviews on peoples businesses because I know how difficult maintaining a business, let alone a pet store, can be. But the obvious neglect of the animals is too much. The rabbits and guinea pigs had more feeces than bedding in their tanks, the birds looked stressed out and unhappy, the mice looked as though they had been trying to eat one another, the bearded dragon looked just pitiful. I understand that maintaining tanks and cages is a difficult chore, especially when you have so many just crammed into a space, but I feel terrible for these poor creatures. No living thing should have to be forced to live in such filth. I know that my review is unpleasant, and I don't intend any offence, but perhaps you should have a word with your staff about A.) Remembering that this is a business. B.) Animals are living things and deserve to be treated as you would like to be. And C.) Arguing with a customer, or being just plain unpleasant overall is very bad for them, you, and your business. I hope your business does well. Judging by most of the other reviews on here, getting a bad review is rare for your business. I apologize that I had to be the one to break your streak.

I have been a customer of theirs since their first location in Knox. I just got a puppy today! I have a dog I got from them a year ago January during the winter vortex! We love going there. Very kind animal lovers!

Called ahead of time to see if they had a 3 gallon tank, they told me we have a wide selection of tanks and to come on inGot there, all they had were 10 gallon tanks. The owner then says “well what do you want?” Like i was inconveniencing her to look for something smaller. “Well why don’t you just get a bowl?” I didn’t call you ahead of time to buy a fish bowl, and if you’re going to say you have a wide selection of tanks and stuff to start an aquarium, you should have a wide selection!? The inconvenienced owner and lack of selection made for a horrible experience.

The person Al Creed most certainly did work at Something Fishy Pets & Gifts. I went to the store when she was employed there and she waited on me personally. For the owner to lie about it seems "fishy" to me.I went back one more time and was treated as tho they weren't interested in my being there. I was prepared to drop $$$$ but went instead to PetSmart where I was treated like a valued customer.

The living conditions of these animals is extremely poor. I used to work here with an internship for a short period of time and did not enjoy working for Sue. I went to clean out the rabbits she had in the back and was appalled; the cages were packed with sick bunnies, almost all sneezing with their eyes matted shut. Their cages were coated with fur and dust, the dropping catchers were filled to the brim with writhing maggots, dead baby bunnies, fur, and months worth of droppings.Chicks would be stuck in a bin together by dozens, many not making it out alive because they were packed in so tight that they trampled each other to death.She marks the price of her products way up.When I had to go to the hospital because I broke my foot I called several times at opening time that day to tell her I would not be able to come in, and no one answered. I left a voicemail and several days later she called me furious, and told me straight up that she doesn't check voicemails. Because better business begins with not answering phones or checking your businesses voicemails.Sue refuses to hire more help because it's "expensive" and instead hires in family, which in itself is biased and lazy.Now more allegations have been piling up, with people claiming to have seen dead dogs and more dead animals under her "care". I have not been to or bought from Something Fishy Pets since June 2017 and I will never in the future either. She doesn't take care of her animals, her prices are ridiculous, and she's rude. I'm hoping one day she will finally be shut down and maybe even jailed or heavily fined.Yes they somehow keep passing the state vet and Starke County Humane Society's checks, but let's be honest; I'm sure they clean up their act before they're inspected, like any other business.

If it were possible to give negative stars, I would. Where to start.... No air conditioning on a super hot day, no water for any of the baby chicks or ducks. Looked like moldy food in with the puppies no water. The place was disgusting. I have been to my share of stores and for being in this industry for 25+ years I am appalled and embarrassed. I never do stuff like this I was so sickened when I left from there I was so angry and am not going to hold back when it comes to the health and we'll we'll of animals. I was the one that said there was a hypoglycemic puppy. The calf was covered in flies- no water. Food covered in flies. Shame on you! You should be better then that. No excuses!!!

Terrible place, don't go here to buy animals. I got a rabbit from here 7 months ago, she told me it was a boy. So I named him thumper, he is a wonderful companion. Except, he's been having seizures ever since I got him. Finally took him to the vet a couple days ago, and turns out he is not a boy... He's a girl. After 7 months of me thinking she's a boy, just tears me up. The lady that runs this place told me to get rabbit food from here that the dumor rabbit food from tractor supply was not good to go buy her food. Vet told me that the dumor rabbit food is the best for rabbits. I called this lady after 2 months of having thumper to get information about his seizures to see if she can help. And she was completely ignorant towards me. My brother got a type of baby lizard from there 3 years ago, and it ended up dying after a week. As we bought everything we had to for the lizard and still ended up dying. So I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Reasonable prices and lots of variety. The staff is always working to keep the animals clean and cared for. Animals poop and pee constantly, so that’s quite a job in itself! if this store doesn’t have it or can’t get it for you, it probably doesn’t exist.

Easily some of the coolest animals ever.They even sell cows!!! Bunnies are only 10 bucks! Chickens, dogs, kittens and cows plus goats and pigs! Wow so awesome to pet a baby calve

I went in today & Angela was the one who helped me, I had asked for a Leopard Gecko & they didnt have any today, but she took my name & number & said she would let me know when they ordered more fish so she could order one of them too, she was so nice & showed me around to other reptiles & their store pet Bearded Dragon & talked to me about their puppies & her own animals, all of the animals & habitats were in great conditions & staff was very friendly!

First thing I noticed was the smell. It was awful. Place wasn't very well kept. Should have known this when I pulled up in the parking lot. Don't think I will be returning to this establishment anytime soon.
