It's a clean shelter and they do take good care of the animals. I feel they are sometimes under stress with the responsibilities of maintaining a animal shelter and sometimes they get a little rude with people who come inside to adopt or donate. But I do trust them in taking care of the animals.

The amount of adoptions from here is awesome!! The prices are very low and affordable. The employees know each baby personally and were such a huge help! My cat, Romy, found us and she is the best ESA I could ever ask for! Dont shop, adopt! Check out their Facebook page, you will fall in love!

We adopted a kitten that was part of the Golden Girls calico sisters. This shelter works hard at getting their animals placed in good homes! We donated the adoption fees for five other kittens, and it was a success!! Please adopt and don't shop!!

I got $30 to donate to a charity of my choice and I knew right away that I wanted to give it to an animal shelter but, I had no idea which one. I spent an hour reading reviews from all the places I could find and this one seemed like the best, many people had kind and good things to say about this. So, although I’ve never been in an animal shelter, there was such cute animals that I wanted to help and many people were satisfied. 😊 🐶 🐱

Terrible experience. Went in to adopt a new fur baby, the dog had an excellent experience with my current fur baby and I had been searching for a buddy for a long while.Talks went well and the pups bonded really well. The ladies lied to our face about us being a good fit and later sent a rejection letter for our application after we had purchased training gear and food, and gathered the adoption fee.Will be donating my personal money too a different shelter with better values that acts with honesty, Integrity, and actually cares about the dogs futures.

I applied to adopt a dog. Her pet profile stated she was good with cats. After speaking with "Shelby" I was informed that this pet had not actually been "cat tested", and so they were unsure if this pet was cat friendly or not. But they would test her in two days to see. I asked why then, would you indicate she was good with cats, if this was not true. Shelby said "When we input a dog into the computer we automatically check that they are good with all of the above until we know otherwise.  We would hate for a dog to be passed up because we aren't 100% sure on whether or not they are good with all of the above." Two days later I receive an email saying they did not cat test the pet, and didn't plan on doing it, unless they felt the need to. That they were going to look at " homes with other dogs".To me, this meant I was being put aside as a *last resort* option. And I would not have had to go through the joyful thought of bringing this pet home; only then to have gone through that heartaching charade, if I was aware of the truth in the first place. I've pulled my application, worried of what else they are possibly lying about. And would never recommend adopting from the Dubois County Humane Society.

Honestly just here to say how rude the staff was. I understand that ALL shelters are over crowded but the rudeness from Shelby was unbelievable. I spoke to other shelters previously before speaking with this one and they were very kind while turning me down. But Shelby was beyond rude. Really upset me because I was trying to figure out my best options because I was struggling to find any options to help my situation. But again the attitude I received was just uncalled for..

An INCREDIBLE asset to our community. Easily the cleanest shelter I’ve ever seen. The employees take GREAT care of the animals as they wait for the right family to come adopt them. This community is extremely lucky to have this Humane Society.

This place has no compassion for children in regards to taking an animal away. (all because we had to put him outside for a few hours while moving)We had him for almost 3 years and my daughter is devastated. They wouldnt let us have him back because we broke the contract. Not even given a chance to correct it. He was just outside that day. They took away a a part of our family. Blocked me on facebook and conveniently had him adopted out fast. Be careful with putting your pet outside any because they dont care what family's heart they break and obviously dont care about doing the right thing!

I have witnessed first hand the great care that is taken to find specific homes that will be best for each individual animal at DCHS. A whole lot of love is put into what is a very exacting process. I would absolutely recommend applying to adopt a pet through DCHS.

You talk to them on a Friday and tell them you want the dog. They tell you have to use PayPal and you let them know you do not have PayPal and have to set one up and get it verified. That takes a couple of days on the weekend. Then on Sunday morning you get an email stating since they never heard from you and you had not paid yet they give the dog to someone else. They tell you they have been very patient with you. The thing is I talked to them on Friday and Sunday they gave her to someone else. We also drove there to see the puppy on Wednesday which was in foster we found out and told them then also we wanted the dog, but yet they say they never heard from you. Plus they said we could not meet her until she was spayed on the following friday. Stay away from this place all they care about is who can get them the money the fastest no matter if you are the first one to get the application in. Also this dog was pending adoption the week before to someone they said was willing to settle for her. They really didn't want her. So they do not care about who gets the animal as long as they get money as fast as possible

Only Open for business 3 days a week for several hours. NO SUPPORT for those of us who try our best to help the community. To "surrender" a stray animal you found you must give your name information and take full responsibility for the animal as if it were your own, and you are giving it up for adoption. Again No support in Dubois county for stray animals. They just let the feral cats and dogs run wild and if you try to cage it and bring it to them they will tell you tough luck you need to give your name number, be in the system and keep the cat an extra night and take it to the vet in the morning. You've already caged the cat fed it while waiting for this place to open, and been beaten up by the cat. Used your resources to catch it feed it and bring it to their door and they can't take a cat off your hands. Acting as if its your issue. You'r cat and not their problem. Jasper is such a nice town... Yet no animal control?

They are not bad they where really nice. But somehow their rules changed from last year... now since I rent my home I can't adopt a cat. But last year I didn't even technically have a set home and they let me adopt a cat

All of our pets are rescue animals from the Dubois County Humane Society. This place is well maintained by a staff that obviously cares deeply for its animals. If you are looking for a pet, check out the Dubois County Humane Society as I guarantee you will find your forever pet here.

Make sure you have an appointment to get in the door. Went yesterday to donate food and had granddaughter along. Was told on Wednesday you need an appointment. No where could I find on the website any mention of an appointment was needed on Wednesday.

The people are so nice and they take care of each and every animal that goes in there . They make sure the animals are happy and healthy .they also make sure that dogs and cats go to loving and good homes .I personally give them 6 stars

I hope they see this because the German Shepard you got yesterday is my dog I was getting it from a lady until we got a call from the lady saying that it ran away and humane society got it I am very mad because that dog was going to have puppies how is it supposed to have puppies if it was neutered and I am so mad I know you guys ain't going to let us take the and gobecause we will have to pay for it because that is how you are and anyways someone will probably bye it before we get there I might get not even want it anymore I am thinking about it so you better still have it and people out there don't go to this humane society because they don't even know if these dogs are owned and just lost
