Just went to pick up cat shelters. Staff was friendly, and they were all busy working and organizing during their remodel.They keep people well informed on Facebook. I enjoy seeing all the animals.I do wish the city would put more resources into animal control and humane services. They do great work with what they have.

Your post about being over crowded with animals is very disrespectful. Yes I understand that your over crowded with dogs but in your story you didn't have to say you got 2 dogs and 10 puppies because they were abandoned. They weren't abandoned or mistreated. Get your stories straight before you go to the news and post stuff about animals. Huntington is a small town and everyone knows everyone. You guys could have just said you received 10 puppies and 2 dogs on Wednesday and left it at that. That is a lines of a law suit bc those puppies and 2 dogs were by far not abandoned.

Came here to check out the dog runs and ended up buying a membership . Highly worth the money and the runs are clean and spacious. The staff are amazing and helpful.

So the last few "adoption" events, several people filled out the adoption forms yet no one has been contacted to actually adopt any of these dogs. There were a few people at the last event rather upset as they have filled out the forms and waited weeks, never to get a response.

My daughters and I went to meet a specific dog on Sunday. We played with her in the outdoor area and everything went very well. My daughter was really interested in her and filled out an application to adopt her. The girl had asked her a question about one of her answers on the application and the explained it to her. She understood and told her that she would be contacted within 24-48 hours to have a meet and greet with our current dogs, but that it didn’t take him long and would probably be the next day. She heard nothing back on Monday, but that evening, after they had closed, they posted a whole bio of the dog in their FB page. They are closed on Tuesdays, so she sent a message through their website to follow up. Still nothing from them on Wednesday, so she called. She was told that they went with someone else because they didn’t understand an answer on her app, the same one that she thoroughly explained when we were in there! No one even had the decency to call and ask her about it, respond to her follow up message, or even let her know that she wasn’t chosen. They obviously really didn’t review her application because references weren’t even called. My sisters family got their dog from here, but I have lost all respect for this place!

Does anyone really adopt or get approved? I don't think a 5-10 minute meet and greet is long enough. Our dogs were in a foreign environment, the dog we were interested in was very excited, prob had energy pent up. Why is the meet and greet in the small kennel? Why not a room, or the larger dog park area? Thor could be having a very spoiled life right now :(

I'm adopting a kitten name mickey..I went on a Sunday to fill out the application for adoption..I was surprised they were open on a Sunday..and I don't have to pay a fee..they were waved that day...but what I was more impressed with was there was quite a few people helping that day and I could see that they truly cared for and about the animals..I was very impressed...and would incurrage any wanting a pet to check this place out...and to donate to help out..

They were super nice and patent while we looked for our fur babies. The fees were lower than expected, and my kitten was already fixed with all his shots. I am so happy we went there!

The whole experience of adoption was such a pleasant experience. I had never adopted before because honestly I was apprehensive about it, seeing the dogs and choosing one. But really it was amazing to see them well taken care of and being able to see which one just bonds with you. Of course they place them in the best forever home so I'd advise a backup pet. I had picked out 2 and my 2nd pick is what I was blessed with. I enjoyed the caring and compassionate attitude of every person who worked there. They REALLY love those sweet animals who need help and it honestly was an amazing experience. We will definitely making a return there when we need another pet

We have adopted A cat and took it to the vet and found out that it was not spayed or had a chip inserted in it. We also adopted another cat when there was an outbreak of ringworm and they swor up and down that she didn't have it but she did and then they tried to say none of this was true!

We went in Saturday, filled out application for a particular cat, staff said he needed his vaccines done and they would call. Hadn't heard anything, so I message today, to be told he was adopted by a staff member. Great, glad he's got a home. However, the lady tells my husband when he goes in "they don't promise or hold an animal to or for anyone" then she counterdicts herself by saying he had been promised to the staff member. You either follow your procedures or you don't, not as you see fit. She also said she wasn't there Saturday and she's the only one who can approve adoptions, again not the case. We watched 2 or 3 people Saturday fill out the application and leave with the pet that day.

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would in a heart beat! I wasn’t planning on leaving with any animals and just tagged along with my mom and her friend to view adoptable dogs. Crazy enough, I went to go pet some of the cats and while I was talking to one of the workers about losing my cat of 18 years, I stepped on a kittens paw who looked identical to him! Long story short, I left with my new best fiend and they were so kind and helpful. Truly a wonderful experience.

Fairly ample parking. I also like that this shelter is somewhat back away from other businesses enough that it's not stressful for your pets. (No crazy traffic to worry over, open space to potty them, and not a bunch of people around)

We brought Kara home last week, and could not believe how wonderful of a pet she has been. She's gentle with our 11 month old, plays well with our 3 year old, and gets along tolerably with our 1 year old cat. She's friendly, smart, and responds to new commands quickly. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the dogs they are caring for, and were exceptionally understanding of our limitations.

I use to really like this place. I've done some fostering from them in the past and have adopted. After my last experience though I am very disappointed. The had sweetest pup that had been severally neglected who had muscular and some neuro problems and instead of working with her and giving her a chance if even for a little bit of time they choose to euthanize her. I was heartbroken 💔. I had taken this little girl home twice and wanted to adopt her. I feel they stole whatever life she had left. She was the happiest and sweetest thing. After that I will never deal with them again. I love the people in the board and I don't believe this was their Decision. I whole heartedly believe this was all Becky's doing. I will forever be broken hearted about that pup

Extremely helpful, attentive and caring and attentive throughout the dealings of the tragic death of my beloved dog, Margaret. I cannot thank them enough and request anyone who reads this to donate to your local pet shelter, especially this one. They have a wonderful facility along with a large, very impressive public dog park.

This a great place. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They only want the best for the animals and the people that wish to adopt. They place animals in Foster Care, instead of leaving them in cages. Highly recommend

Lots of fur babies need adopted, and they need volunteers, too! They had an event where they gave away cat and dog beds and carriers for free thos weekend, and even had pizza to share. All the volunteers were kind and helpful!

I went in today and the owner was very nice and gave me a pamphlet. He let me hold and introduce myself to the cats. The place was clean and the cats were so adorable and nice. Great place.

They don't do their jobs. My pit/boxer got picked up just for running down the street and there is a dog a few houses down frok me that has tried to attack me and my children more than once. And no one will do anything about it. I don't even feel safe in my own neighborhood. Why have the animal control if they don't wanna do anything? I am scared for the safety of my children.
