Came in just to check it out but also in consideration of my sister who is always looking for new fish for her tank. The woman working there was somewhat standoff-ish from the start and kept an eye on my friend and I like we would attempt to steal the fish. Enthusiasticly, I asked if one of the fish was an Arowana and she responded with a short and rude ‘Yeah.’ We felt pretty unwelcome, which sucks because although their setup seems kind of inhumane, I would still bring my sister back there if my experience was a good one.

Not sure how long this GREAT LOCAL REPTILE/ AQUATIC/ EXOTIC shop has been here. But I think I've been going in for the last 25 years. Knowledgeable, ready to help with info on any of the animals. They breed multiple species and also have great feeder mice/ rats. Be critical if you must of the inside of the store, but remember it is a small space stuffed with many animals. It seems to be taken care of by the 2 owners so I'm sure the. Cleaning work is neverending.

This place honestly made me look inward as a Caucasian.Walked in once just to check the place out with my girlfriend and her kid and an older male and female working there kept an eye on us the entire time like we were up to no good. Wasn't an inviting atmosphere to say the least and made me ponder.Is this what black folk feel like when walking into a white anything 🤔 cause if so, no wonder they're always salty with us.Next time I'm looking for a lizard I'll just take a bus to the desert 🏜

My 18 y/o son purchased his 1st bearded dragon from here. Angie was patient and took the time to educate him and us on proper care. She had a good variety of sizes, colors, and age ranges. We selected the youngest one, 3 months old. This was the 3rd store we visited and I’m super happy we found them. Highly recommend!!!! Thanks, Angie!

Absolutely Amazing I've been to this place 3 times and each time is better than the last. A well curatad selection of hard to find exotics. The informative staff is unmatched when critical information is need for your pet. Awesome experience please visit well worth it 👌 😀

Absolutely appalled at the condition of this place. The whole store reeked of feces, and while I understand some stench is normal, this was just beyond. Not to mention, it is almost inhumane how these animals are treated. Alligators, iguanas, and monitor lizards crammed into 40 gallon tanks with a single heat lamp and guinea pig bedding. The poor alligator had an empty tank with less than an inch of water. One tortoise appears to have some kind of shell rot causing it to cave in on itself. Fish tanks are either overcrowded or too small, and covered in algae and snail eggs. I understand that there are challenges when running a pet store but if you don't have the proper equipment to care for exotic pets, then it's better that you don't have them at all. It is beyond me as to how places like this are allowed to remain in business. Petco treats their animals better.

We went into the shop and saw well cared for fish and reptiles. I would buy from this store. The owners are serious reptile keepers. You will be very surprised what is there. I liked the huge plants growing there and I think they should sell starter plants too. I think the floors and walls could use some cleaning , the store is very warm and tropical in its temperature. Otherwise worth seeing.

Went to go get a scorpion today but instead got a Ball Python. Very nice people work there and very helpful and will talk to you and explain things to you. Prices are very affordable and very reasonable. Definitely going back to get another snake later down the road because of how great the service was there!

Such a cool store! The owners have a ton of knowledge about reptiles and aquatic animals. They have so many different reptiles, fish, etc to look at. Definitely a hidden gem!

The owners are rude. As soon as me and my family walked in they had a nasty attitude towards us. The lady gave my son an attitude when he asked to see the scorpion until I stepped in and asked to see it. I am definitely not going to be spending any money there.

Love, love, love this place. We bought a Red Devil Cichlid from them and about a month or so later our tank sprung a leak and I was able to board him there for a week while we got our new tank established. They also have a decent variety of live critters in there if you're looking for a new pet, or fish. They had a few land tortoises, a chinchilla, some gerbils, tarantulas, different kinds of frogs, snakes, bearded dragons, alligators, anacondas.. and that's just what I can recall seeing when we go.

This store is awesome. Brian the owner was super nice. Answered all of our goofy questions. His snakes are beautiful! He has an Anaconda in there!! He also carries live pinkies. We drive all the way from Chicago to come here

First time we showed up at this store, it was right before closing and I was not able to purchase any fish ( because I was not going directly home ). . Although I am sure the owners were ready to go home, they were friendly and willing to share knowledge.. I can't wait to go back...

First time here ever and it was an amazing reptile/aquarium spot!. I purchased my first Gecko today and I am in love with her! The workers there were very informative even usual customers were helping as well!. So happy I found this place; they do have fish, snakes, turtles, frogs, lizard, alligators/crocs, spiders, etc. The list goes on! Definitely check them out.

I 100% recommend the fish here , I have bought 2 fish from them , a goldfish for a friend and a koi for myself and they both have grown to be such beautiful fishI don't have photos of the goldfish but the black and orange one is the koi I got from them

Brian did an excellent job of making sure my son's pet rat experience got off to a great start! He provided us with important info and advice, as well as useful products to begin our adventure. Most of all, he has bred his rats in-house for over 30 years, so the two rats we purchased have turned out to be fun and active companions. Thank You!

Very bad experience.Guy DOESN'T GIVE REFUNDS.TAXES! They charged me $56.40 for two light bulbs. And one of them blew out after less than an hour of use!!!I had planned on buying more of my pet needs from there in the future but since he laughed in my face when he said "NO REFUNDS" I'll never give him my business again.VERY BAD VIBES.Don't waste your time or money.

We had brought in out leopard gecko who was having difficulty shedding and the owners were able to walk us through helping him/changing his habitat. They truly are awesome and very knowledgeable. There is no b.s. just straight education on how to care for your pet.

One of the coolest reptile houses around. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and always very helpful. All of the animals and reptiles there are well-kept and very healthy. The colors on his fish are always outstanding. Truly one of the last Mom and Pop shops im glad to frequent. I wish them many more years in business!

The animals are healthy. My only disappointment, I wish I would of found their store a long time ago!! Don’t go to the big shops. Support your local small businesses. They TAKE CARE of their animals. A definite must for reptile lovers I've been all across America and I have not seen a pet store with such rare and exotic selection and the owner knows everything his level of knowledge is worth the visit alone he definitely has a passion for animals and it's much appreciated thanks guys your emporium is awsome.

Just visited this place and of course animals have a smell but the stench was unbearable. Some of the animals looked injured as well as lethargic/malnourished. Only met the male owner whom was very unfriendly seemed agitated at us asking questions. Asked about lizards and he did not point me in the right direction just looked to the floor. My daughter asked a question about the chinchilla he completely ignored her. We felt unwelcome and we made him aware of it he says mockingly “oh sorry to hear that” lol which was the most interaction we were given while there. Yea needless to say we left immediately and will not be making any purchases from here ever.

I buy a TON of fish from this place and they without a doubt care more about their fish and reptiles than any pet store in northwest Indiana. I have been buying fish for years from them and have never had a single issue with any fish I have bought, and I can’t say that about a single pet store in NWI besides The Reptile Emporium. If you are looking for the highest quality fish, reptiles, or live food, this is the place for you.
