After owning my dog for an entire year, I’m writing this review. This has been my own personal experience. I love my dog more than life itself, and I am so grateful to have gotten her here. She receives many compliments on her appearance and intelligence. I receive a lot of questions about her.One concern that I had that quickly resolved itself—Within the first few months of having her, she seemed to be having hyper glycemic reactions. She’d have one roughly once a month. They were easy for me to spot, so I was able to act quick and give her some Fortical, which brought her back to her normal self. Her last reaction was seven months ago, and she hasn’t had one since. She probably had about five total reactions. The vet had kept a close eye on her too to make sure she was healthy at the time. No other issues appeared, and she’s healthy according to her vet.As for my experience purchasing a dog, it was a little difficult, considering I am from out of state. I actually decided to purchase my dog here because my uncle had purchased his dog here. I wanted a similar dog. I had family members stopping by to check for the specific dog breed that I wanted or would call in to see if the puppies were available. They would sell relatively fast at the time, due to COVID (people staying home—therefore, wanting a pet). They do not hold dogs for you, so you need to be ready to buy when the dog becomes available.The shop owner did have great communication when it comes to explaining how to care for the pup. She did keep in communication about the estimated time of arrival of the next litter. Although she comes off as rude, I feel like she does have good knowledge of the dogs, which is nice to know.Overall, I’d recommend getting a dog from here!If you’d like to see updates about my dog, her Instagram account is @pokepomeevee

We happened to be in the area after getting scammed about a dog that we had came to Hammond from Indianapolis to purchase. We happened upon the store an hour before they opened and we were still met with such incredible professional courtesy and kindness. It was such a phenomenal experience and with our pup they have given us so many things to help take care of my Jack Russell terrier. Incredibly memorable experience with how helpful and positive it was. I highly recommend hug a pup to anyone looking to purchase a puppy! The puppy is very well behaved, well mannered, and he seems incredibly intelligent. He is picking up things fast, like potty training, sitting, etc. He is gentle, a good listener and wonderful companion! Thank you ladies at hug a pup! It was a WONDERFUL experience I won't soon forget!

I went with my partner, SYJ because she wanted a puppy. We were greet with a hello from Karen. The place is well lite, clean and no crazy odor. We able to interact with any puppy with paying a few.

We love our baby dingo ! The price we got him I was so happy because a lot of places over charge and scam for a pure bread . I got a pure Pomeranian breed perfect health happy and a beautiful puppy ! They have a health certificate you can take your pet for free to get check out . It’s a small place & busy but we are so happy Thank you !

I purchased my baby Eva there about 3 months ago, the lady that helped me was very nice. We had some issues at first, she eats her poop and drinks her pee. I believe this is because they are not taken proper care of while at Hugapup. This caused some parasite and multiple visits to the vet. We worked out all her issues and she is a very happy girl.

Not only did I find the most PERFECT Pomeranian puppy that immediately stole my heart before I got her, but the Staff are so Very Knowledgeable! They make sure you know Everything that you need to know regarding Safety and proper care for your pet! I will definitely be referring this wonderful Pet store to other people! GREAT JOB Hug-A-Pup!

I purchased my Pomeranian from Hug A Pup a year ago and I have to say, this was the best purchase ever made! My daughter and I drove by and saw the store and just wanted to stop in to look. Well needless to say, I came out with a puppy! My dog, Kai was well taken care of here. He has been very healthy, and we have not had any issues! The staff were super friendly too! One employee had a choker on that my daughter liked and she gave it to her!!! Who does that?! They made a great impression on us and I have recommended them to people who were looking. Highly recommend this place! If I see they have a whites female Pomeranian available, I’M DEFINITELY COMING BACK TO BUY FROM THEM!

I am convinced this place has something to do with puppy mills. The dogs are living in small wire cages and it looks inhumane. I truly believe this is why they are so against photography in their facility. They don’t want people seeing the true conditions of how the dogs are treated there. It’s heart breaking.My family was treated very disrespectfully by the lady working at the front desk. Plus the smell in there is horrible!

I purchased my Havanese from this store today. Tara, was amazing. She was very welcoming, kind and very patient. The prices were reasonable considering other places want to charge $4000.00 for a puppy. My daughter and I are so in love with him. I am referring all of my friends here. I think it's a nice place with a nice concept. The young lady that brought the puppy out to us was very polite and explained the rules and guidelines.Yet the front desk clerk I found to lack customer service skills for my family, the family that was there before we arrived obviously didn't share that experience, as they were happily engaged in conversation with her our entire visit.I'm not sure if the rudeness had anything to do with a difference in culture, or if we had spoken to her in Spanish , my perception would be different? The facial expressions and responses to our questions created an atmospheric tension that didn't need to be.We visited after 3pm Friday.Think it's a great idea, and a nice place only giving 1 star because of the customer service experience. Minus that they would be 5.

I walked in, very small place. Not a big deal. People were sitting eating (again not a huge deal but a little weird) what I assume is the owner or the employee working didn’t even acknowledge that I had walked in. I came in to look at German shepherd or Rottweilers depending on what they had. They had two male German shepherds. I walked over and started petting the pups, again no acknowledgement that I was even there. I pet them for maybe five minutes and one pup started nibbling on my hand which is 100% fine. That’s what puppies do. Teething, learning. It comes with the territory. The first thing the employee says is “no, don’t let him do that he might go to a family with kids and we don’t allow that”. One, even being ignored, I was already in love with this pup and was ready to purchase him. Two, she completely dismissed me without even acknowledging that I was there. Customer service could be much better . I was ready to adopt but the attitude and atmosphere ultimately made me decide that this is not somewhere I would like to get a dog from. Puppies need to be puppies. If you’re concerned with nibbling at this age considering you didn’t have anything in there for them to chew on maybe you should consider something else as your line of work. Over all not impressed with this establishment.

They may have nice pets but they conduct themselves very selfishly …. 1200 for a dog… 3500 for it to be registered … mind you it’s a cheap process to register. And worse of all … she wants them spayed and neutered before they will register them … them scared of people having puppies. So much they force a family to do that. Completely unprofessional. Look out of state people it is more beneficial.

I purchase my Pomeranian pup here nd his adorable, but I’m giving it 1 stars bcuz the old lady who took care of us was rude, I seen a comment of someone who had similar experience that spoke Spanish to one of them and they received this bad attitude. Me and my husband came here to get our pup for our son and she was so bother for it. I remember she said “you guys want to get a puppy when your son is still a baby? Oh God but I guess good luck” like bruh are you serious she was horrible, disrespectful and rude and honestly would say She’s racist.

I bought my Maltese from this place 13 years ago. My Maltese is doing great and acts like a puppy! The owners are wonderful! Please read again wonderful! They know their puppies and do not sell sick dogs! They remember this customers! IHighly recommend the drive!! Too bad they had tk move! My next place to buy a puppy! You will be thrilled with your new baby! The prices are very affordable. The place was always cleaned.

I'm almost 100% sure this has something to do with a puppy mill. There are dogs caged up in the smallest cages you could probably get, being cramped in there with other dogs. These dogs are kept locked up in inhumane manners. My dog does not act like a normal one would, and due to her biting people, we are gonna have to give her away, I'm sure this being a puppy mill she and her brother have had a cruel and uncaring upbringing. Do not buy from here if you don't support the harsh treatment of newly born animals.

I am very upset with my experiences with Hug a Pup. My boyfriend and I bought a puppy there last May. We researched different dog breeds for weeks to make sure we would get a puppy that would get along with us/fit our lifestyle. In the end, we bought a puppy who was suppose to be a rat terrier/ jack Russell mix. Months later, after many mixed feelings on what our puppy really was, we got a DNA test done out of curiosity. Come to find out our puppy is nothing of what they told us, and he is just a mix of multiple different breeds. We went back to the store to talk with the owners to let them know what we found (who knows if they knew they were lying to us or they were lied to as well). When we asked them about it the lady in charge of everything got very defensive and rude. She did end up refunding us our money which was nice, but that was not the point for me. The point is we paid a lot of money for a specific dog, which in the end turned out to be a mutt. Now, I love my 10 month old puppy more than life, and I couldn't imagine life with out him now- no matter what his breed. I just want others to know who are new to buying puppies like I was that they aren't trustworthy & insanely rude. I will never promote their business, allow a family member or friend to go there, or purchase a puppy from them myself ever again.

Visited before Covid19 pandemic, and the lady was not the friendliest plus she only acted like she would let me "Hug-a-pup" if planning on purchasing, so I didn't get to hold any puppies. There was a bad, 2 year old lab or golden retriever you could pet that nobody wanted to own and all he did was try to nip at you. Plus, those dogs are way too expensive. Better to shop around.

I adopted the cutest, well mannered Teddy Bear puppy from here. The ladies here were very knowledgeable, kind, and you can tell, they love their job! You can walk in and see that all the puppies in the store are taken care of very well. Oh, I forgot to mention the adoption prices are very reasonable too! I’m going back to adopt another cuttie pie 😊.

Bought a pup a few days ago that has no strength in hind legs I don't believe he has ever been on sold grounds his entire life! It is truly sad. Praying my baby gains his full strength soon as we have been nurturing and loving him with all our hearts! The employees are also very rude! Not a friendly environment! Hug a pup definitely needs to step up and hire a New crew that will not only be friendly to customers but with the pups, as I seen pups grabbed by their neck and thrown into a cage during paper changing the cages! Right in front of my 5 year old! I really feel this this a puppy mill behavior! Please pay attention to your surroundings in this shop! I was able to save one but also left room open for another I'm torn! So when I was asked to rate hug a pup I felt I needed to explain why I gave them 1 star!
