Being new to the area, I was looking for a new primary vet. I found this vet and decided to give them a try based on the mostly positive reviews. Deciding to go here was the biggest mistake I've made, as my cat is in worse condition than she was when I brought her there.She's had a tiny bump on her head for years that previous vets told me to not worry about. The bump started to look like it was getting bigger and I noticed some dry patches on her back, so I decided this was a good time to bring her in and establish a new primary.The vet said that she wasn't really sure what the bump was and didn't see any other issues with her besides the dry patches. She said I could get the bump removed and they could test it ($1,000). She said she was going to give her an antibiotic shot and a rabies shot. I wasn't really sure what the reason for the antibiotic shot was since the skin issue appeared to be allergy related and she couldn't do anything for the bump. I asked if it was safe to vaccinate and give the other shot at the same time. I was told it was safe and she would be fine so I decided to trust the professional and proceed.A few days later, my cat has a swollen face, eye discharge, she's barely breathing, won't move, and is very lethargic. I call the vet and they told me they couldn't get her in that day and I needed to take her to an emergency vet. I rushed her to the emergency vet where they told me she had pink eye and other issues that she likely got from the Danville vet not properly sterilizing. I was informed the Danville vet shouldn't have given her that antibiotic shot because it causes heart failure and diabetes. If the Danville vet would have told me these were the risks, I never would have gotten it! He told me the bump that they wanted me to remove was nothing to worry about but that I needed to do blood work to assure the Danville vet did not cause any long term harm to my cat. Now my cat is on more medication and I have to find another primary to try to clear up whatever plague she got from the Danville vet and hope they did not cause long term damage.Long story short, she came in with some very insignificant issues and was overall healthy. A few days later she was about to die because of this place. If you love your pet go elsewhere. Money is the motivation of this business not your pets best interest.

Outstanding experience all the way from the ladies at the front desk, to vet tech Allison and Dr. Stone. I was devastated when my former ‘assembly line’ walk in clinic vet told me she had no time to explain her thought process as part of what she considered end of life care. A huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders knowing my precious fur baby now has a competent and compassionate vet to help us thru his final days.

We are always happy and excited for DVH checkups! On our latest visit, our vet tech advised us on vaccines that ended up saving us money, and made sure our girl was well distracted by yummy treats when she did get the poke (she was none the wiser). I also requested no peanut butter distractions for this visit (due to a visiting family member with allergies) and they limited that exposure for us. I always love how the charges and procedures are carefully explained before service is rendered.

Dr Stone, Dr Tamaki, and Dr Bailey are all amazing. They tried their best to help with my sweet boy, whom we lost 2 months ago. They put up with my smaller, 15yo demon dog, and they got my new baby established. They are kind and listen carefully when there is a concern. Baxter, Muffin Cakes, and Rengoku have all been well cared for!

It wasn’t a good time but it was a wonderful experience. A few months ago we had to say goodbye to the best dog ever. Penny was her name, I’m humbled to be the one that seen her from her first days on earth til her last, to be with her and provide love and comfort when she took her last breath. The entire team at this facility dropped what they were doing to assist us from the point we pulled into the parking lot, all the way til the end when we walked out. Penny was at peace she went in. She was at peace when she went to the other side in comfort, all because of the care and compassion that was provided. And it does not end there. A week later it was time to pick up the ashes and bring her home for good, again nothing but kindness and the comfort feeling that not only are these gals in this line of business because they love animals but they also love people, they love life and make it easy when times are really bad, to see a shining light at the end of the tunnel.A few days later I received a sympathy card and a garden stone in the mail, from the doctor and the team, totally not expecting that. I know they will read this at some point and I really hope it gets shared throughout the entire facility. From my family to everyone on the team at DVH, we are grateful that we choose to come there and to receive the warm comfort that was much needed at the time, your kindness and your hearts are not forgotten nor will they be, I have a reminder everyday, when I walk outside and see the garden stone. I remember my baby and how she was comforted til the end and treated with the special treatment she so deserved. It really helps when you have good hearted people doing great things. Great visits!! Our puppies love seeing the team. Even have Bonus of chiropractic care for animals to keep them feeling great !! Thank you for taking care of puppies and loving them.

Found out this place grossly over charged me for a visit a few years ago as well as informed me when I found a 5 week old kitten on the side of the highway a few weeks ago that they wouldn't even see her because we found her. They told me to take her to the animal shelter and post about her on social media, and that they wouldn't even do a well visit on her! 🤬 So I took my business down to "Healthy Paws" an recieved immediate care for her, as she desperately needed it. I will never do business with Danville Vet again. I also encourage everyone, to take their pets down the road to a much more caring veterinary hospital at "Healthy Paws".

What a wonderful experience. We had emergency with our older boxer. They took very good care of her. The care that they showed us. There is no words. Then to get the phone call a couple days later checking on her. I am switching both my baby to them

This was my first time working with this vet office and I was very pleased with the service I received! I brought both of my dogs in at the same time and one of them was restless. They were so good with her and gave her treats and pets to give her attention. They explained everything clearly and when one of my dogs had a minor reaction to medication, Dr. Stone called me to discuss other options in less than 2 hrs. Very pleased with the staff, doctor and service!

This place is amazing. They were so welcoming and kind to us and our dog Moose. It was our first time taking him to the vet so I was very nervous on how he would react. They were so gentle and patient with him, answered all of our questions, got him all up to date on vaccinations, started him on flea and heartworm medicine, and took blood work to make sure everything is all good inside! With that being said, we were only there for 30 minutes at most! My parents recommended this place and I’m so happy we followed through!!

I love this vet,the staff here are always so kind, pleasant, and very helpful. Our dog does not have any serious issues but does have some minor ones and the vet will always take the time to explain any issues in detail and answer any questions. Probably for this reason, some appointments can run a little longer then I'd normally expect but if your animal is your priority then its worth it and its actually nice to not be rushed out the door when I still have questions or concerns like at other places I have been.

I like this vet. They aren't incredibly expensive and they take care of my baby. So I trust them to see her when she's sick - they can usually find a way to squeeze you in. The vets are pretty good I think. I'd recommend them.

We've had to come here quite a bit lately, and I've been so impressed by Dr. Tamaki and the staff. Our dog is pretty unsure of new people and places, but he seems to actually enjoy coming to this vet. Everyone has been very patient and kind!

I am from out of town, but chose this Vet for my Mom's puppy. I have been nothing but impressed with everyone. They have been been very accommodating. Dr. Tamaki was wonderful with Buddy. I cannot say enough about Lorrie up front who has gone above and beyond to help set up my Mom's appointments, payments, email paperwork and answer any questions I have had.

We have been patients of Dr Portwood’s for about 7 years now. We actually live on the south side now but make the drive to Danville each visit. We have 4 dogs and they are all getting older and all have health issues so we have been in quit a bit over the past few months. We have actually been patients of Dr Crystal and Dr Shelly as well and feel like the quality of care is outstanding with all three doctors. The vet staff(techs) are amazing and answer all of our questions and are great with our fur babies. Lorrie and Brittany are great at what they do! They are always cheerful and kind. They definitely make you feel welcomed when you walk in. I highly recommend Danville Veterinary Hospital.

They are very good with cats and could pencil us in when I was home from college, which was so convenient. Staff is very friendly and unfortunately, my old kitty Tobey passed away the night that we took him there. They sent my family a card that was all personally signed by them all and gave him back to us in a little paw print blanket. One of the saddest days of my life, but this vet clinic treated me with great care and sympathy during these times. They did all they could for Tobey, he was just very old and suffered kidney failure. I highly recommend this vet to anyone in Hendricks Co., because I haven't been able to find such personable doctors on this side of Indianapolis and your pets will truly be in caring hands here.
