Have been going here for over 15+ years! Food is always great and prices are affordable, environment is comfy and lots of Culver paraphernalia! Love all of the Mexican dishes and the breakfast items! Service hasn’t always been the best but Definitely understandable on how tight service is especially on busy weekends! Leading, training, and hiring in a business alone is definitely not easy as well! Sinful French Toast, Hot chocolate, Frozen drinks, cappuccinos, Quesadillas, Sandwiches all great!

A visit to Culver would not be complete without a meal at Cafe Max. The environment is nostalgic and interesting, and i always find something new on the walls that i had not noticed before. The service is friendly and fast, even when the restaurant is packed with people. The food is delicious, consistent and delightfully unhealthy. It is always a pleasure to come back to Cafe Max.

I went with a large party and were seated quickly. Kudos to the server, local utility company was working on power lines and knocked out the power for a bit for the non-kitchen side and the computers were out. We came close to closing so we all thought we would have to order pizza. She took our orders by hand!I can only speak of the fried chicken and mac and cheese. Both were excellent. The fried chicken has to be in my top 5 if not top 3 of all restaurant fried chicken I've eaten. The crunch was spot on, and the taste was delicious! You get the breast, thigh, wing and leg!The mac and cheese was served in a little cast iron skillet. It was good, but nothing special. When I say nothing special, I mean like it didn't have any other little 'add-on's' like I've had elsewhere like bacon or other tasty things. But for homemade, it was good. The owner also came out and we met her dog. I was glad she greeted us. If I didn't tell her about how the server helped saved our dinner, I hope she can read it now! We all came in from separate places that took hours to drive, and we did not want to get bar food or pizza.Thank you!

After moving to Culver within the last year, I’ve been here at least 5 times now. Every time I’ve been, the service is so poor. Being a server for 7 years, I know it doesn’t take much to walk up to a table, introduce yourself and ask how everyone’s doing. You won’t get that here! The servers always seem like you are an inconvenience to be waited on, they take your order, drop off your food and MAYBE if you’re lucky come back to see how everything is and bring drink refills. But most likely, you won’t see them again until they are bringing the check and not wishing you a great evening or great day as they drop it back off after you pay. If I go somewhere, I don’t expect a lot but after witnessing this every time we’ve been there I have to assume poor training or poor people skills. Even the host stand is always chaotic and you feel like you are an inconvenience by being there. I wish I could give this small business a better review because it’s a great atmosphere but I can’t stand poor service.

To get a feel for the town and community of Culver, AND get great food, you won't do better than Café Max. Our favorites include: the Blue Bayou Skillet, Sinful French Toast, and the sublime seasonal Pumpkin Pancakes. The Bloody Marys are also a highlight. Fun, funky local decor/memorabilia and excellent service round out the experience.

Without a question the place to be for breakfast in Culver. Other meals are good for breakfast as where it shines. The only downside I’ve experienced is that they can get overwhelmed and thus slow.

We had a party of 7 and they were very accommodating. They offered boosters for the 4 & 5 year old, but they were able to reach the table just fine. They were given coloring sheets and crayons.I had a veggie omelet, the kids had grilled cheese and pancakes, my husband had Sinful French Toast, one had the country sampler, one ordered the Eggs Benedict, and one ordered the club sandwich. Everything was cooked to perfection, they remembered no cheese in my omelet. The staff was super friendly. Everyone really liked the Home Baked Wheat Bread. And my niece exclaimed: It was so good I ate it all! (She ate her grilled cheese and started on her sister’s pancakes.)

Susie and her friendly and dedicated staff always provide a yummy and great experience. It's my family's favorite breakfast destination. A must for regulars and visitors alike.

Installed huge television for owner, she was so rude. Gave me a bad review which is sad because I came early prepared. She was over zealous and felt like she needed to help when I'm a professional not her. She seem cool but will down you behind your back. She offered me food but I would have to wait 4 hrs. I asked over and over was everything ok and said yes repeatedly. Almost killed myself to make her business look good and she approached me like I had no idea what I'm doing or I was going to steal from your restaurant. Maybe you will have a different experience but im really sadden by the snake in the grass. Her coworker was more friendly and not running around like there was a criminal in the building.

Nice atmosphere, good food although my salmon was overcooked. My husband reccomends the burger. We did wait along time for our drinks even though they were not busy.

Probably the worst latte I’ve ever gotten. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte with almond milk. It was $5.62 for a small I tipped $1 so $6.62(slightly over an avg price but I’m willing to pay for a good latte). It was bitter and flavorless. I did not taste spices or even anything sweet in it. The young lady I placed and order with was nice but the ordering experience was very awkward. I ordered it at the hostess stand and it took about 10 mins for it to come out. While I was waiting I was really sure why it’s was taking so long and I didn’t see anyone making it. I also did not notice an espresso machine so I wonder if they just used regular coffee. All in all I think this place is trying to do too much and should just call themselves a “family restaurant”. Then when they sell bad coffee it’s to be expected.

Gotta give our waitress kudos. She was a champ, great with the timing, polite, kept beverages refilled. We had a large group so it can be tough. The fried chicken was super along with mashed potatoes and green beans, ample serving , moist with crunchy coating. The prime rib was also great, cooked just right, with a generous serving for the price. My tenderloin sandwich was not as good as it looked. It was so chewy I couldn't cut it with a knife and it was hard to see any real meat inside the coating. I would not recommend or order that again. They can come out overcooked.I like their menu and will return but will send any more overcooked foods back to the kitchen.

If I could give zero stars I would.. the worst tenderloin I’ve ever had couldn’t even cut it with a knife.. nothing at all like the bowling alley tenderloin.. very very disappointing not only dry and overcooked they didn’t even give the condiments I ordered with it .. doubt I’ll go back

This place should be on a Food Network show. If you love a "home cooking" kind of menu, you should try this establishment at least once. I had the Philly Omelet and loved it. The French toast is great too. Both dishes will melt in your mouth. The staff could give a clinic on how to take care of a guest. From start to finish, the wait time is almost nil. Someone is checking on you all the time, but not too much. They walk the line well, balancing the middle -- enough attention to make you feel that the staff cares about your comfort, not so much that the service is annoying.Culver itself is a beautiful town, bustling in the summer; sleepy in the winter. It's a perfect setting for this gem of a restaurant.

Cafe Max is full of history and great service. In this day and age it’s hard to find great employees that take pride in their jobs and appreciate customers like they do. If you want to eat at a true Cafe not a run of the mill fast food restaurant Cafe Max is your eatery.Great menu’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner.with a cool bar that offers great handmade cocktails, wine and beer.Small town style that keeps us going back for more.

Although the service and food quality is excellent, thepancakes were grainy and the shrimp tacos should have had the spicy 🔥 sauce served on the side to let you adjust the flavor heat to your liking.

Awesome food, great service, and atmosphere! I absolutely love the pancakes, toast, and biscuits. I would love to come here every week, but I can't. The service is friendly, gods is good, it's clean, and in shape. One thing I don't like is every time I walk in the store and waiting to be seated there is a bump right by the chairs so watch out!

I love coming here it feels like home. The breakfast is the best, I can never decide on one thing, my husband and I have to order extras and share! I love the unique menu items and the traditional staples too! It's the best breakfast in town, and well worth the wait when it's busy.
