I love all Ace hardware shops, this little one in Chesterton I especially love because they're an Echo dealer and I just bought a very very expensive Echo X Pro series PB 9010T from them. Wish I could have gotten a free hat or shirt like at other Echo shops but I'm not complaining too much about that

You can always count on getting help to find what you're looking for at a ace hardware. The price may be a little more expensive than the big box hardware stores. But it is worth it for the service they offer!

The Helpful Place, indeed! Every time I go in there's someone immediately asking what they can help me with. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and humble. I never walk away feeling like my business doesn't matter. Still has the old school hometown feel, and I hope it never changes.

Ace is the place, at least right in town. If you have some sort of issue they probably have something that can help you out. Hours aren't the best, so get in trouble early. Some good metal artwork for sale inside a well.

Was greeted with kindness, presented an image on my phone of the product I needed, was promptly directed to it's exact location and was in and out of the store in under two minutes! Nice store, nicer people... Thumbs WAY up! 👍👍👍

They have horrible customer service. Waited 3 weeks for the owner to call me about issues with a lawnmower I purchased less then a year ago. Never heard back. Went in he said to to drop it off and he would have his father look at it at Hopkins small engin repair. Before winter I did everything their sales person told me to do to prep mower for winter even purchased some products they recommend. Get a call that it's the carb and its my fault and wouldn't be covered under warranty. Horrible, why do they sell products so the equipment will be saved. I have wasted my time and money with them. I will never be back!

Wonderful experience. Friendly staff. Website prices are lower than in-store prices. Cashier, who was semi-friendly, made price adjustment. I did not feel comfortable or welcomed.An older male, who is originally from Chicago, carried my purchase to my car. He's a true White Sox and Comiskey Park fan. He was an absolutely delightful, kind, professional employee. Great conversationalist. Genuinely friendly, funny and made me feel welcome to visit the store.

I knew when I had a plumbing problem I could rely on ace hardware..the employee ( Bill Nicholson) was so nice and extremely helpful.That trip to ace kept a situation that I was in from being aggravated.Thank you Bill for your help both times today.Plumbing problem is fixed!

I cannot begin to express how I feel about the level of customer service I received today. It was like going back in time to when people took genuine pride in each task no matter how small. The paint was a perfect match, and that “thingy” I explained I needed was exactly what my husband was looking for. You ROCK!!!

I came in looking for a particular item as the store neared closing on New Year's Eve. A salesperson quickly and cheerfully assisted me. I like the center part of this store as it displays many bargain priced and sales items. This day, I left with what I came for and a Yeti tumbler that was marked down $5.

ACE Hardware is the closest place for hardware; so, this is where I go. Unfortunately, it seems to have taken a turn for the worse. They used to have people there who really knew hardware. They were polite, professional and offered solid, common sense suggestions. Sean (I hope he's still there) not only knew that store backward & forward, but he is an expert at tinting paint. Now, there is an old hag who not only knows very little (if anything) about hardware, but she's also very condescending. I don't need that b.s. when I'm trying to fix or replace something.I have reduced this rating from two stars down to one. ACE does NOT honor its own coupons. Through ACE rewards I receive $5.00 coupons to be used when my pretax purchase is at least $20. My last purchase was around $20.19, but my coupon was not honored. I was told if any purchase has to be manually entered, that amount will not be applied to the total. This happened because I purchased about $1.25 worth of fasteners. So, I referred to the conditions on the back of the coupon. NOWHERE does it indicate this exception. Bottom line.... ACE coupons are pretty much worthless, and ACE's promises are equally as worthless.

All I can say about Hopkin's Ace hardware store is amazing!!!!The people there are so friendly they're so nice They are all wearing masks to protect you but let me tell you they were so helpful I didn't even know what I needed and they helped me find what I needed that makes any sense.There was a police officer there just patrolling the area making sure that everything was good and it was. I would go back there again when I'm in the area if I needed anything they were so helpful and I ended up buying a lot more than what I came for.

Glad to have a store in town for all your hardware needs. Super friendly staff. Prices are a bit higher, but that's what you get when you support your local smaller hardware store so I definitely don't mind spending my money at Ace since they take care of us in town.

As soon as I walk in there’s the most helpful employees ready to take me to exactly what I am looking for. We are remodeling our kitchen and my husband sends me to ace all the time knowing that they will get me squared away with everything he needs and it saves us a lot of time. Definitely recommend

A great store to have in our small town. I moved here recently and have been in Ace multiple times since. When you walk in, the cashiers greet you and can always tell you exactly what aisle your needed item is in. 99% of the time, there is an employee ready to take you right to it, help you with what you need, and explain how it works. If they're not standing there at the front of the store to ask how they can help, by the time you get to your aisle and start looking, someone is there. It is so great to have a resource like this right in town, and I'll be a loyal customer forever.

I shop at Hopkin's all the time. They are the nicest people. And I love how they took on Covid before almost anyone, requiring masks to enter, putting up plexi at the checkout, and encouraging social distancing. They are awesome!

Nick and Corey were both excellent. I needed a faucet rebuild and they assisted from finding the right part to completion of installing the new replacement valve stem kit. Great customer service very thankful to them both.
