I'm SO glad WE (Chesterton) finally got an Aldi!!! Yes, we ALL KNOW they have great deals AND THEIR selection of food has expanded exponentially..!!? AND so has the QUALITY..!!! BUT I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE AROUND XMAS..!!! THEY HAVE THE COOLEST AND MOST UNIQUE "GIFTS" EVER!!! I bought my son a DOPE "easel" when he was like 3 AND he STILL had it at 12...!!! KEEP UP THE XMAS GIFTS 🎁 🎄🎨🛍️📦

I had been obsessing with the changes before they had actually opened on Thursday October 14th, 2021. I walked in not expecting to buy any produce at first, but when I compared their Kirkwood chicken price to the sale price at Jewel across the street, I took the last four bags at Aldi. I gotta say I was really impressed about the size of this particular Aldi because the other ones I had been in were rinky dink 😆. I Forgot to use the $5 off coupon that I cut out. For someone who has a gluten intolerance, I'd recommend being careful about shopping at Aldi. They sell a lot of products that look like they contain wheat. Their selection of fresh fruits and fresh vegetables is okay. They seemed to have an interesting selection of cheese. The name brands are different. Some foods are certainly more affordable than those at Strack and Van Til and Jewel Osco. They also have a small line of home necessities like blankets, paper towels, gloves, and the like. I think they did a good job having a cooler across from the frozen goods. They have a modest selection of meats to buy from. They seemed to have quite a bit of candy as well

Go shopping here every time we are in town . We don't have an ALDI in Colorado. Get their chicken salad...I dream about it! Clean store. Well stocked.

I’ve never shopped at this Aldi before, but decided to stop because it was on my way home. The store is clean for the most part. The produce didn't seem to be as fresh as it typically is when I stop at an Aldi. The staff is also pretty rude. The cashier that checked me out didn’t speak at all. He was beating on the register when it didn’t work properly, throwing my items in the cart, and huffing and rolling his eyes when he had to ring up my markdown items. When the transaction was done, he took the receipt off the printer and handed it to me and didn’t say a word. I think I’ll continue to go to my usual Aldi stop which is Portage. The staff is friendlier there and I don’t have to dig through the selections to find items that aren’t close to expiration.

I love ALDI as my go-to grocery store which is the least expensive anywhere. They have great products and they have a couple aisles every week dedicated to special home goods, toys, pet items, that are much less expensive than anywhere else. You never know what you will find but stop in to get the flyer each week to give you a heads up. Their new items come out every Wednesday. Some Aldi's have begun to do self checkout now. Don't forget to bring a quarter with you and your own bags. The 25c gets you a cart and you get it back once you return the cart. If you don't have bags you can buy theirs for 15c. That is how they keep their prices lower.

Aldi’s is now my favorite first go to store. All the food has been top quality tasting AND is better than Jewel’s or Strack’s normal pricing.The 1/2 & 1/2 was 1/2 the price.Jewels and Stracks sell Wheat Thins which have horrible GMO. Aldi’s have Thin Wheats which are NOT GMO and tastes great and are less expensive.Aldi’s also have GREAT pumpkin seeds. They have had great frozen pizza.I got a water bottle for $9.99 that was $39.99 at Meijer’s.I don’t work for Aldi’s. Fruit on display has mold. Products are often damaged or defective. The milk section is constantly wet with milk on the pallets and the floor. Cashiers are overly rough with merchandise and I've had to replace an item after it was damaged by them. Prices were increased not long after opening the store and now they are on par with the prices of Jewel across the street. Selections are very limited and they don't carry widely used products. No beef ramen? On one occasion, ZERO cans of chicken noodle soup. Also, did we need another liquor section in Chesterton? The Valparaiso Aldi is much better.

Self checkout sucks and bigger problem is there no longer are plastic bag and have to double up on brown bags due to the fact they rip when using one. So Aldi found a way to pocket more money both esys. Seniors should protest shopping there or bring your Jewel, Marianos, Walgreens, Fairplay and other grocery store plastc bags there to protest or do as I do now, I hardly go there now, as their prices have gone up also. Maybe they should give 10 - 15 % off to the customer that use self checkout and allow customers to go into 'employee only area' to pick the products since they are now running the checkout area.

Very nice, clean store. Been there many times and very consistently organized and easy to find what I'm looking for.As a company, they have so much to offer in organic options. Quality and variety is continually getting better and better, especially in the meat and energy bar areas.

couple of weeks ago i went Aldi for shopping and i was very disappointed. i was picking up package of mini cucumbers and to my surprise all the packages were tampered with . these packages always contain 6 to 7 cucumbers , but not that day. without exception all packages had only 4 in them . i checked them all and because i am a regular customer for past 10 years (michigan city store)right away i knew the management was responsible. i asked one of the employee and she told me that's how it came in. this was a wedensday when Aldi gets the new stuff every week , so i decided to go to my old store , ALDI in Michigan city . As usual the packages of cucumbers contained 7 or 8 in them and i switch back to my old store. to me this was bad enough for me to go back to Aldi in Michigan city for good.

Love Aldis prices! There are still some things you have to travel another grocery store to find, but overall, pretty decent selection. Wish the Chesterton location would open a little earlier so I could stop before work when needed!
