I adopted a 13 year old kitty there yesterday and had a great experience. Clean and friendly. His name was Delbert. I've been calling him Paw-Paw. I love him, thank youMore pics of PawPaw. He's doubled in size and just as playful as any kitten in just the 4 months I've had him. The shelter called me for an update which was nice. Thank you shelter workers for rescuing an old cat and matching us perfectly together :)

My husband and I adopted our cat in January. She is amazing. They were open about her background. Even sent us home with the meds she would need.She has grown beautiful and healthy. She even plays fetch.10 dollars for a flea free spayed healthy kitten. AmazingStaff was very helpful and pleasant

After my grandkids moved out I was feeling lonely I searched for 6 months for the first dog that I would ever own in Elkhart Humane Society led me in the right direction I absolutely never imagined I could love my baby as much as I do he is truly the best

This place is really great we spent lots of time with this dog in the meet and greet room.we went to check out several dogs but we only met with this one and fell in love with her and didn't want to see any other dog. they make the adoption process really easy and are there to help you with any questions even after you get home you're able to call and speak with them and they will put you with the right person if you have any issues or questions

I absolutely love my pup I got in June, daisy was a 9 year old stary that has been in 2 family’s and returned. At first it was rough because she wasn’t getting along with the other dogs but she’s really come out of her shell and is the most living baby ever. The staff was a little on the rude side but I don’t mind now that I have my baby.

This is a well run and well maintained humane society. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. All the animals had clean food and water, plenty of space, and looked well cared for.

I am a Veteran and we went their on Veterans Day 23 and got our little dog. He is such a cute little guy and fits right in with our family. The staff was AWESOME. They truly look out for the animals and make sure it's a good fit. We will get our next animal from their for sure. Thanks for all you do ladies. You all are Great.

They adopt dogs out that have aggression and don’t tell you! Our family adopted a dog from here not too long ago and the dog tries to attack one of the family members almost everyday but they didn’t tell us when adopting him to us. They had to “sedate” the dog to even adopt him out to us and claimed “he was just so excited to get adopted out”. I can’t believe they are lying and adopting dogs out they know have aggressive tendencies to families that could have small children or other pets just to get them out the door!

My family just adopted a German shepherd from the Elkhart humane society. They staff were friendly and helpful. They had no problem bring out multiple dogs for us to meet with to help make a dec5on which one would fit best with our family.

Adopted a ten week old kitten in August. He had an URI when we adopted him, but this didn't stop him from growing up strong and happy. Thank you for the love of a pet 💕

By far the most enjoyable adoption process I’ve ever experienced! The staff don’t make you feel interrogated or unworthy like many rescues do. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of a pet. Thanks HSEC!

My daughter posted on the home to home page. And her post was removed after we visited there to surrender her dog due to personal reasons. They refused to take the dog, told us to post him on that site (which he already was). The lady then told us she didn't see him posted. So I myself checked after we left and told her that he was on there. Low and behold he was. The lady said all this before even knowing the dogs name and just seeing him for the first time. I just checked the site again and my daughter's post about her dog has been removed. Not to mention the lady was a little bit rude. This all occurred on 9-30-23. We were there around 1pm. I first checked the site around 2pm (the post was there) I just checked again at 9:50pm and the post is gone. Do better humane society.

Pros: easy and fast process.Cons: No information is given about the animals. Even if they know negative info, they don't share it. Returned animals go right back up for adoption and no issues are looked into.

Sure it’s a nice facility. Prices for adoptions is HIGH. Only had pit bull dogs . The staff were rude to us I can imagine how they are with the animals. Scary

They failed to mention that they have a companion program which means that animals are always buy one, get one free. Ian also denied that such a program exists and he had to ask the manager about it. You would think that they would HIGHLY promote this program so they could get more animals into homes... Also, if you return an animal that attacks 3 people within 2 days, you do not get your money back. Some of the staff members(Jamie and another one I don't know the name of) are super rude for no reason. There were a couple nice people there but they also give you zero help and don't give you any direction throughout the whole adoption process. Also, you gotta walk across the whole building to ask for the medical info on each animal instead of them just putting the important details on the cage so you can see it while you're walking through the kennels. I really wanted to like this place because it's cheap but honestly I rather go to a different shelter that costs triple.

The people here are so nice! We adopted my cat here in November of 2020 and they were so patient and friendly! They have a clean facility for the animals and are very caring with them. I will definitely come back for my future fur babies!

I just want into visit with one of the dogs and as soon I as the left the room I fell in love with the dog and it was like the dog and I have I physical and mental bond. When I got done with the visit I went to the desk and told them I wanted to adopt her they said ok and started the paperwork which was the fastest I have seen paperwork bing done and I was on my way home.

Cleanest shelter I've ever been to. The staff were all very kind and extremely helpful in finding a cat for my friend. They really try to keep as much information as they can about each animal which is really convenient and helpful. They even have visiting rooms where you can play with the animals to make sure you are a good fit for them. If I make it back to Indiana I will be buying a cat from this shelter.

The staff is very helpful and friendly and there is a deep, abiding care for the animals that are there. The facilities are very modern, clean and accommodating for the animals needs and every effort possible is made to find good homes for the animals. The volunteers are devoted to working for the animals to make life there less mundane and filled with kindness as is the every day staff. This facility is totally devoted to the safety and emotional care of all the animals as well as their basic needs and overall health. It is heartening to know that the animals are so well and professionally cared for as they make their transition to finding a good home.

Found a stray dog walking down the road, she has almost gotten hit. I picked her up and spend about 1.5 hours looking her owner to no avail. We were only 3.5 miles away from the Elkhart county humane society. So I figured we would take her there so she could be safe. I walked in and immediately got treated disrespectfully. The lady was extremely rude and would not help with the dog and told me she was my problem now. I asked her she could please take her and she told me no. That I would have to find her owners myself, and accused her of being my dog. Well luckily I got ahold of (DOGTOWN RESORT) who was actually able to help me with the dog and get her returned to her owners. I’m very very disappointed in Elkhart county HS and their actions, you guys are supposed to help the community not tell me it’s my problem. Be better!
