Warning, the people who work here are extremely rude.I wanted an emotional support animal to help me through college so I went in to adopt a kitten today and they would not let me adopt because there are kids in my home. They have no policy against that but yet because of that they deemed me unfit? I have never heard of that. I take good care of my animals and after contacting my vet they knew that.

We adopted two eight week old kittens Willy and Waldo ...they have been a complete joy.. the staff was very helpful and very patient with me.. I couldn't make up my mind so ended up getting both of them and that was the very best decision ever..we love them both so much!! I would highly recommend the Bluffton animal shelter experience!!

I adopted two cats from here. The staff is very friendly and the shelter itself is very clean, although there is strong animal smell, but that is to be expected. I gave 2 stars instead of 5 because my first adoptee was sick when we adopted him, he had a kitty cold and it took a month and many vet trips to kick. My second cat is very very fat, and missing hair because he was so matted. (This is what they told me). I wish they had more volunteers to help them. They seem like a good placen but they need help.

Wish I could rate lower. Because I had to give my family dog up almost a year ago to make sure she went somewhere safe. These heartless people wouldn't let me adopt a kitten for my teenager who is in need of an emotional support animal. I feel this is injustice and very heartless and to make me feel like I was a horrible person for making sure my dog whom I loved and had had for 4 years was well taken care of up to date on all shots and fixed so that no one could breed her. But these people made me feel like I was the worst person in the world. To top it off we drove 2 hours because my kid fe6in lo e with the kitten I the pictures. Thank you people breaking child's heart andf making me feel like scum.

This facility must not receive much funding or donations.I took in a cat that had been abandoned at a house a friend had moved in to. After attempting to acclimate her to my house, it was evident that she was a queen of the house, single pet household kind of cat. I expressed this to the staff when I brought her in. Said she wasn’t 100 percent okay with other cats but didn’t outright attack them, but was tolerant of our dog and children. The staff did ask me how many litter boxes I had which I said two, knowing they’d tell me that wasn’t enough. They briefly discussed it amongst themselves and said since she wasn’t adoptable, they would not be taking her. She isn’t an outdoor cat at all but they suggested I try putting her up on Facebook marketplace as a possible barn car, which any proper pet owner would not do. I do not have the time or resources to properly screen people and even though she isn’t a good fit for my family, doesn’t mean she isn’t a good fit for someone else’s. They also suggested euthanizing her, which I suppose would also result in some kind of income for them. I refused. They also said they were the only facility in the area and since I lived in Wells she couldn’t be taken anywhere else. Super duper helpful. So bottom line, they aren’t interested in sheltering animals as the title of the facility would have it, they’re just interested in turning a profit as quickly as possible, be it by adoption fees or euthanasia fees. Fortunately my friend who I got the cat from lives in Allen County, so she’ll be able to take her to a shelter that’s actually invested in the wellbeing of animals, even those that are a little more challenging to place.

They killed my daughter's cat plain and simple...this shelter doesn't try to unite missing pets. It's a total for profit butchery, and as soon as the pet you adopt from here goes missing they'll capture it, slaughter it and take your money to adopt another one...if you're supporting this rancid dumpster fire with donations then you are part of the problem.

My first time visiting this animal shelter, I loved the kindness of the employees. They were very meticulous on who adopts from them, and I appreciate that!! I adopted two young dogs, they are so smart and loving. Thank you so much for your kindness and patience. ❤️😇

The vochous to get a cat fixed our 10.00 down at wells co fountations on market street. Well I went in to get a male cat which they dont have any neutered so they wanted 50.00 they said it was the price to fix a animal. I explained I already knew it was only 10.00 and she got mad and said she was not going to argue with me. I cant believe they would rather make money then give a cat or dog a home. How would they like to sit in a small cage everyday all day. Over money....money.i went down there agian today had 50.00 to pay for a male cat she turned me away said I needed to make a appointment this was after she asked me what I wanted I told her exactly, what on earth is the big deal?? Thiz place needs to be investigated.

Disappointed I had to give up our cat because it attack my daughter for no reason. Not only did I have to sign my life way, the lady said "I can't see a cat just attacking your daughter for no reason". Well lady. It did, more then once. My daughter loved her cat and it was heard enough for me to have to give him up. But I didn't need your comments on top of the hard choice I had to make

We drove about 20 minutes to go look for a kitten because we were thinking about potentially adopting one and when we got there we asked to look at the animals and they said if we aren’t adopting then we couldn’t look at them how are we supposed to know wether we want to adopt if we can’t look at them!?! The staff was very rude and disrespectful do NOT recommend going there

Last winter my husband and I turned in some cats to this shelter. They informed me because I chose to turn in an animal , We would never be considered to adopt anything in Wells Co. Hateful snobs !! Why did we turn in the cats??? We are both highly allergic to cats and I didn't want the cats to freeze to death outside. Shame on me ???? I think not!!!

The rudeness of the staff concerning adoptions lends to an air of impropriety on the part of the shelter itself. They state a five day hold policy and a desire to avoid the spread of disease. The avoidance of facility inspection by the public almost ensures the idea of improper kenneling and animal mental welfare. It has been a proven fact the animals thrive with human contact, especially in a "caged" environment. When asked simple percentage questions, they were immediately defensive and dismissal. Left feeling overty disheartened and concerned. Hence the need for this review.

Gross. It smells absolutely terrible, the staff are rude, and the doctor has no time for patient's concerns. We found another local vet and feel much safer going into a clean, up to date facility that smells clean and has friendly, helpful staff.
