Went here for the first time on a Monday at 10pm. My first thought is that the prices are way too much for what it was. $7 or $8 for a small?! I got the chocolate moose dream, which had peanut butter, and it was good. I got it in a sundae with hot fudge and hot caramel and pecans. But the cup they used didn't allow for much of the toppings (or they put too much ice cream for the toppings). It was a Styrofoam cup, so that helps with melting. My husband got the Cinnamon ice cream in a waffle cone. The waffle cone was great, with added $ 2 cost. I think every sundae should come with a triangle of a waffle cone. They should have a menu that you can hold in your hand that lists everything, in case you can't see the other menu on the back wall. The girl working was very nice and let me try 2 different flavors. It was also kind of weird that you couldn't see the ice cream options. They were in the back around the wall. So that's why a photo with the name of the ice cream should be available in menu size paper. They had lots of options for seating, esp with large groups. The straws and napkins were right there, which was nice. They actually carry Mr.Pibb pop, which is nice to see!

We have been coming in for 1 scroop of vegan vanilla for years. It's always been a treat to have somewhere we can get a treat with all of our food allergies! That said, I was bummed when I found out they stopped using coconut and are using oatmilk instead. I get the reasoning behind it though.Vegetarian options: They have a few vegan flavors. It was coconut milk and has been changed to oat milk as the base.Dietary restrictions: Dairy free options

Delicious ice cream mediocre customer service. By far some the most delicious ice cream I've had. Rich, creamy, and sinfully good... (or bad?). Their cheesecake flavor isn't simply vanilla topped with cheesecake bites. It's ice cream that tastes like cheesecake, the way it should be. Wish the customer service was better. Oh well. 7/10

Old fashioned ice cream place in downtown Bloomington. Lots of options including soft serve, hard, sundaes, milk shakes and ice cream sandwiches.Not the best I've ever had but still good. The place has been around Bloomington for a long time.If you are in the downtown area, it is worth stopping.

Always great! The only problem was there were lots of people (to be expected, of course), so once we ordered, we sat down around the corner from the counter. They had a hard time getting orders to people that way. My large cone ended up in a cup, I think because we couldn't hear them call out our order. It took away from the experience because of it.

I haven't been in a decade, and I don't know if it's still the same, but this was the best ice cream I have ever had and when I asked for extra peanut butter, they basically gave me a whole jar. I think about this place all the time and it's the thing I miss the most about my home State.

Banana Pudding Ice Cream! Need I say more? This was my first time at The Chocolate Moose, but definitely won't be my last. They have a great variety of flavors including lots of vegan options.

I visited Chocolate Moose on S Walnut St on Wed Jul 13 at about 2pm. I bought a blizzard with homemade chocolate ice cream and Oreo stir-in. I liked the blizzard, and I like Chocolate Moose, but I have two criticisms:First, I did not know where to park. The sign (photo attached) in the parking lot only allows parking for the Chocolate Moose at 4pm - 12am. But, according to Apple Maps, Chocolate Moose opens at 11am. So where do you park at 11am - 4pm? The old building had better parking.Second, the blizzard cost $7.29. I thought that this was a little expensive. But inflation impacts my sense of what price feels fair. Also, this includes a 3.95% service fee for paying by credit card. I would prefer that the prices on the menu included the service fee.

I’ve been to the Chocolate Moose Walnut location multiple times. Every time I’ve visited, the staff has been very friendly, the shop was very clean, the decoration was very nice. The only factor restricting a 5-star rating is the speed of service, or should I say lack of. If they were able to produce product quicker that would be an instant 5 stars!!! They have fantastic breakfast, ice cream, and coffee. I definitely will return again and I would recommend the Chocolate Moose!

We absolutely love the chocolate moose! This time we got the chocolate explosion Sunday with vegan coffee ice cream and also a freeze with vegan coffee ice cream...so freaking good! This is just the first of many trips to the Moose this year!

This place is ice cream heaven. I don’t have a sweet tooth but this place has me coming back and trying all the different favours of ice cream and types of desserts. So far my favorites are: vanilla ice cream, cheese cake ice cream, red velvet cake ice cream, chocolate fudge ice cream, vanilla pecan sundae and so many more.

They have good sundaes. I personally wasn't a fan of the black raspberry ice cream, but th PB banana was good. They have almost a 5% upcharge if you pay with credit card, so cash is preferred. Plenty of seating.

Huge portions, deliciously thick handmade ice creams and plentyful add ins make this a must stop. When asking a staff member what blizz was waiting on the counter all I got was a shrug. But its still worth the visit.

SUCH a great ice cream shop. The smell of fresh waffle cones fills the store. This was an old style ice cream shop from the 1950s when I was in college. Now it's housed underneath an apartment complex, but the ice cream is still rich and flavorful. Chocolate Moose is a Bloomington staple - some of the best ice cream around.

The best ice cream in the city I must say. Nice place to sit and enjoy the sweet treats. Though the only thing I was unhappy about was the variance in quantity. The first time we went, the quantity was almost 2.5 scoops and the next time it was barely 1 scoop plus like half of the other flavor I wanted. I think the billing and tips should be done after giving out the ice cream seems that matters. All in all definitely worth the visit.🙂

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoy dining here after visiting the Wonderlab Museum every time we visit Bloomington. We always get an ice cream but last time I even got a BLT and it was delicious and the atmosphere is always upbeat! Very busy place but service time wasn't bad! Kudos to the employees for keeping up with business with smiles on their faces!

** VEGAN OPTIONS**I grew up in Bloomington, and The Chocolate Moose is THE place to go for ice cream. It’s so nice seeing them in their new building, and they managed to keep the feel and charm of the place as it was before. Amazing ice cream, good prices, and it’s local! You can’t go wrong.Pro Tip: If you have kids (or are young at heart), ask for eyes in your ice cream!

This is our first visit to the "new" location. It is a bit different as the place is a LOT bigger. However I found it was also better which we doubted could be possible. After all The Moose was THE place to go for cold refreshment in Btown. Putting it inside and revamping the serving area made everything different and we were prepared for dislike. Yay! The wait time was short. Shakes were the BOMB! Staff is amazing. Our fears were dashed to the pavement.

Amazing atmosphere - great pricing and options of flavors. they have regular ice cream and soft serve. They also have vegan options for thos with allergies or intolerances which is a major plus for me. I'll be going back many many times. They also serve delicious coffee.
