We recently had an extensive remodel with LWB and let me tell you that they did an amazing job. We have lived in an old house for 10 years that we love but was in need of repair. We replaced 2 bathrooms, new windows, doors, new screened in porch and outside living area. One of the selling points of LWB was the in house architecture and design team that work with you every step of the way to get the best final project. When comparing outside design and architecture pricing, LWB value quickly became apparent. Loren has top carpenters, painters, and builders on staff that quickly turned the blueprints into reality. In addition to the main project, Joel (our project manager) was happy to tackle any punch list items that needed done in the house. One of the best thing about working with LWB is the work is done right, and they stand behind everything they do. The finished project is amazing and we love our new old house!

Loren Wood Builders recently completed a fairly large renovation and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. From the beginning, Loren was very responsive, open, and helpful. As we started in on the project it quickly became evident that the people at Loren Wood Builders are something special. Every single person we worked with, from the project manager, to the carpenters, to the painters, and the electricians were polite, helpful, and committed to doing the job right. For the things that Loren's crew doesn't do in-house, he's clearly selected subcontractors that share his focus on quality and customer service.On a big project there will always be small mistakes or unexpected challenges. The way a contractor deals with those challenges says a lot about them and Loren's team sets the bar high. Without fail, the message we received when we raised a worry or issue was not to stress about it and that they would make it right - which they did. At the end of the project Loren walked through for a final inspection and found a handful of small things that weren't done to his satisfaction. They were minor things I might not even have noticed but Loren quickly had someone out to get them fixed. His and his team's commitment to quality is evident.Working with Loren Wood Builders was the right decision for us. Our house looks great, the experience was good, and we met some really cool, fun people along the way.

I recently completed my second project with Loren Wood Builders, this one greater in scope than the earlier remodel. As with my previous experience with the team, the build was carried out with skill, exceptional attention to detail, and lack of shortcuts. At each stage of the project and as decisions or changes needed to be made, communication was excellent. This aspect of our work together was invaluable for making the lengthy and complex process of building a house considerably less stressful than it would otherwise have been for me as the homeowner. Additionally, knowing that the many subcontractors LWB brought onto the project had been vetted for track records of good work was reassuring and led to greater efficiency. And because the project was infill in an established neighborhood, there were the inevitable issues that needed attention and diplomacy to keep neighbors happy. Along the way the LWB team professionally and thoroughly addressed any issues that developed, in some cases going above and beyond to assuage a neighbor or me. I’m very happy with the outcome of my build and would highly recommend Loren Wood Builders for projects large and small.

My husband and I purchased our home last fall, largely due to the amazing remodeling job by Loren Wood Builders. While we were not involved in the remodel, the moment we entered our house I felt we had come home. Everything about this home feels like it was made for us. Originally built in 1966 we love way the updated portions of our home are in harmony with the funky old parts. We had been fans of Loren's work prior to finding our home and were delighted to be purchasing a home he had remodeled.Once in we had a few small things to address, a door to be hung, a closet to reconfigure, pictures to be hung. I wasn't sure Loren and his team worked these smaller projects but thought I'd reach out. To my delight he sent someone over within a few days and all my punch list items were completed! Loren was so easy to communicate with, so kind in sending Nathaniel, one of his skilled carpenters, to our home. Nathaniel is a wonderful communicator, a swift, focused professional and a lovely young man. He has been back twice since and always has a smile and a great deal of patience with our young pug who likes to help him work!Our next project will be to update our front porch, we look forward to working with Loren again on this project and would highly recommend him and his crew for all home projects.Thank you, Loren. We reached out to Loren Wood Builders about a possible renovation/addition to our current home without really knowing what the possibility was. From the moment we reached out initially they dove head first into the project. We knew what we wanted but they took our vision and made it a reality. We couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience from start to finish. The level of detail and care they put into the design process to make sure it was exactly what we wanted was unmatched. Once the renovation and construction started every aspect of the project was done with the highest level of professionalism and quality. It exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Also, the level of professionalism and responsiveness from everyone on staff at LWB was incredible. Always quick to respond and pick up the phone. They also go above and beyond the scope of the project. We had something come up with our furnace unrelated to the project and they found out about it and without us even asking they came over late at night on the weekend to take a look at the issue and try and solve it. They also brought us space heaters from their workshop to make sure that if the issue couldn't be resolved. Little things like this go a long way and just go to show how serious they take their projects and they feel responsible for every aspect of their projects. Loren Wood Builders are amazing. We contracted with them for a kitchen renovation last year, and the whole experience was wonderful. Communication was always excellent, the budgeting process was realistic (no nasty surprises), schedules were adhered to, and the quality of work was superb. All the subcontractors brought in were responsible, professional and of high quality. The team was sensitive to the fact that we were trying to live in the house at the same time as a major renovation was taking place, and attended to small details that helped ensure the safety and comfort of the whole family. To the degree that a major renovation can ever be "delightful" to go through, this really was--the LWB construction staff are a pretty incredible group of people, and we were glad to get to know them--it was a pleasure to greet them as they arrived in the house each day.

Loren Wood and team do quality work and stand by their work!In October 2018 we had Loren and his team remodel our bathroom due to leaking issues caused by a bad design and install from the previous owners. Loren was recommended to us by several people and despite the job being small for his team, everyone involved did top-quality work and was courteous and the project was done perfectly and on time.Fast-forward to February 2021 when a small roller fell out of one of the shower doors. It was not something we could re-install even though it should have been a “quick fix”. I called Loren’s office and within 5 minutes of my call, Loren called from a project site to say he would have someone over the next day. Jess came out and we realized it was going to require him to remove the shower doors to replace one small wheel (and that was not something either one of us anticipated). The next business day, Jess and a colleague came out to remove the doors, replace the wheel and reinstall the doors.I cannot say enough good things about Loren and his team. We had a fantastic experience with LWB! We contacted them about doing a big basement remodel after waterproofing our very leaky basement. We especially appreciated 1) their communication skills - they did a great job keeping us up to date on the stages of the project and talking through issues as they arose; and 2) their willingness to come up with creative solutions (and to think through the costs of going different routes). We purchased a lot from Loren and hired Ernesto Casteñada, LWB’s in-house architect, to design us a modern house in the woods. Our process with Ernesto was collaborative, respectful, and fun. He was kind, a great listener, and was very attentive to our wishes and our budget. I really loved working with Ernesto.Our project manager, Joel Keefer, did a great job of keeping me informed of progress, answering my questions, meeting me at the house at all hours when I had urgent thoughts, communicating with subcontractors, and generally helping (or at least trying) to keep me calm while building a dream home. He was always accessible, respectful, and a joy to have leading the team. I probably met or interacted with 25 of the LWB employees over our build, and they always made me feel at ease and at home. I really wanted people to be happy working on our house, and I felt like that was the case. The environment they created was one of craftspeople doing what they love, and I truly appreciated that.LWB prides themselves on not only the quality of those employed by the company, but the quality of their subcontractors, and it shows. From the excavator to the fixture subcontractor and everyone in between, they were all great, professional, and nice.We broke ground in October 2019 and moved in at the end of June 2020. The timeline was impressive; I am still amazed they could complete a fully custom home in 9 months (during a pandemic). The house is beautiful, and we simply could not be happier with the outcome.

Loren is more than a great builder, he has good communication and interpersonal skills. Owning a business, I understand that having this foundation is what will allow a great thing to continue and improve. Loren and Joel were a tremendous help in getting our remodel across the finish line. What started as an attempt to fix some burst plumbing turned into a remodel of a third of our home. While we made a good deal of progress demo-ing everything ourselves, we completely stalled when it came to the rest. We recently had Loren Wood replace a deck over walk-out basement with a sunroom, bathroom and basement extension. I suspect it was a modest project for the firm. We are very, very happy with the result. We believe that working with the Loren Wood folks was the right decision and will go back to them for any renovation project we might undertake in the future. Without hesitation, I would recommend that anyone considering construction or renovation projects in the Bloomington area should include Loren Wood in the discussion. Reasons we are so happy with our choice of them to do our project include:1. Because of the detailed upfront planning, we didn’t have to change much along the way.2. That said, when we did change our minds, workers were cordial and accommodating. For example, when they initially framed a doorway, we realized it would cause problems with furniture later. They shifted the frame a couple of feet quickly and without complaint.3. They do not cut corners and use quality materials throughout even in things, like the quality of the lumber, that customers might not notice.4. They were extremely fussy about the finish work and spent a consider time making sure painting and caulking and similar small details were exactly right. They found things to correct that I would not have noticed for months.5. The most important thing is peace of mind. Communication was easy and quick. They asked regularly if we were concerned about anything they were doing and were responsive to all our questions and requests. We were confident that they would deliver a result that was exactly what we wanted and would be of the highest quality.
