Great locally owned businesses. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We need more small businesses like this one. You can tell they care about their community. A++++++++++

This hardware store carries more than I ever think it will. I prefer to shop here first to buy locally over other chain hardware stores. You may pay a couple of dollars more but the service, knowledge, and experience their staff provides you while shopping is incomparable. Hands down will continue to shop at Bloomington Hardware before going elsewhere if needed.

The employees were really nice and very helpful. They were also very respectful, which is something I've had issues with at some other hardware stores as a young woman.

Make sure to thoroughly test any items you buy here. I bought a 100 foot water hose at the end of July to wash off my asphalt for sealing. Used the hose middle of August for the first time, immediately cracked and became garbage. Tried to return/exchange 34 days after purchase with receipt. If it's after 30 days, you're boned friend. No refunds or exchanges even. Be careful buying stuff here, friends.

Even though they didn't have what I came in for I'm not going to make a complaint. It's wonderful to find a hardware store that is still exactly that a hardware store. Every aisle hat with multitudes of different styles and tights of every tool and necessity for each project type that you might run into. There wasn't none of this one brand selection and maybe the store brand with one or two options it was need something electrical different types of tools for that job that they make you'll find much like any other Ace hardware type store that I've been in prices a little higher can you beatbox Grant stores however it's worth it you know you're going to get what you need when you need it keep it up Bloomington hardware definitely worth a little extra in my book, because when it comes to getting the job done and done right peace of mind out race price when you need the right tool and you know there's a place like this where you can get it on the first try and be done project done and go home enjoy your day.

Bought two plumbing parts made of pvc. Neither worked. When I went to take them back the very next day, because one in a plastic bag had been opened they refused the return. Went to lowes and found both parts, that worked for a fraction of the price. Very disappointed as I was trying to support a “more local” store… never again- unfriendly and overpriced. You’ve lost my business.

Truly one of the best places to get your hardware, they've got just about anything you'll need for good rates, and the customer service is second to none.I had an issue with my bicycle where the steering shaft that slots into the bike was coming loose, and I needed an allen wrench to get it fixed up. Not only did they help me find what I needed immediately, but they were kind enough to let me roll my bike into the store, even though it was a snowy day and the tires were wet.10/10

After having a terrible experience at Lowe’s trying to get paint matched, I came in with very low expectations & they were blown out of the water! Hannah was so sweet and quick to help and matched my paint ridiculously well! She really helped me out and I can’t express how grateful I am for the help!

I can never say enough nice things about this awesome local business. I went in yesterday with a challenge and the team was ready as always with great suggestions. To close the loop, acetone got the blue dye out of the sink :). Thank you so much!

This is my favorite Bloomington institution! It's so friendly and fun and helpful. Why closed on Sundays now? My favorite day to garden and run to the store for mulch, weed treatments, etc. You are forcing me and a lot of other Elm Heights residents to run to the big box stores on the westside for supplies. Such a wasted revenue for this store.

Always a great shopping experience here. Limited selection, but they do have what you need. By limited selection, I mean that they do NOT carry fifteen different brands of one item which makes the store efficient. They have employees stationed at the center of the store that are there specifically to greet customers and walk them to their needed products! It makes shopping there fast and friendly. One example of how they helped me:I wanted to put new doorknobs on three of my exterior doors. I wanted them to all use the same key. The employee showed me how to identify the ones with matching locks and saved me a lot of time and hassle!

Philip was incredibly helpful when I needed to replace a battery in my cars key fob. Not only did he show me how to open the fob but also the type of battery I needed and made sure I was able to purchase that battery. Thank you!!

We asked for help buying a filter for out furnace and they sold us the wrong one, even though we told them the size we needed. When we came back shortly after to return it they would not accept the unused filter even though it was nearly $50 and they had told us it would definitely work. They do not stand behind their word and do not care about their customers

A great place, not corporate at all with a wonderful staff always there to help you, guide you in anything you are trying to accomplish from big to small project regardless of your level of expertise. Another important aspect: it's right there, close to Kroger on College Mall and unless you want, really want to drive to the other side of town to other harware retailers this Bloomington Hardware is the place to go! And still the best place to go!

Not the same anymore. Been like this for a few years now. They make you feel rushed and it's most definitely not the small hometown store experience anymore. Welcome to today, I suppose.

Helpful, knowledgeable staff, well organized store. Oh, and as to the ignorant review giving one star because they make you wear a mask, guess what, it's mandated by the county. I appreciate a business that follows rules and regulations. Cheers!

Well this is quite surprising, and I’ll keep it short as well as keep the current crisis situation in mind, however, I HAD been coming here for a LONG time until today when I pulled up, I noticed they were doing pickup orders only, they advertised to call it in. So as I pull in I see one other customer picking up there items, normal right? I park in there driveway and call, and I ask if I could pickup a small part for around 7$ to fix my kitchen sink, (They are advertising they close at 6, and this is at 440 Im on the phone), it would have taken less then 10 minutes or the whole transaction, but instead I’m told, “yes we have the part you need, but no you can’t pick it up today we aren’t accepting anymore orders,” those exact words. The store doesn’t close for over another hour and I could visibly see workers leaning around doing nothing. I don’t know if this would bother anyone else but I will never go back, I felt very disrespected by the attendants attitude and employees work ethic. Over something so small to...Seems like a clubby place to buy items that are over priced anyways. I try to support local but they are the definition of entitlement where it’s not necessary.

We have been going here for 20 years! We will NEVER go there again! As soon as we walked in, we were not "greeted" but we were asked if we needed help, I stated "no thank you" and the guy just stood there staring @me, so I continued to tell him what I was looking for, not only did he act like he had no idea what I was talking about, ( I walked away to keep shopping) but he then followed me to EVERY SINGLE AISLE I WENT IN! He finally left me alone , only for a woman to immediately approach my husband and I and do the same thing! We were then followed all the way to the register, where we , much to their surprise I'm sure, PAID FOR OUR ITEMS! IT WAS THE MOST EMBARRASSING AND ULTIMATELY DISRESPECTED MOMENT WE HAVE EVER BEEN THROUGH! Word to the wise, if you even remotely look "different" (ex. A lot of tattoos, or dont dress to their standards) I dont recommend going in here, if you dont want to be judged, and "stalked" around the store the entire time your in there. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! SHAME ON YOU BLOOMINGTON HARDWARE! JUST LOST A CUSTOMER OF 20 YEARS!!

I am not well-versed at all when it comes to hardware and had a horrible time with rusted bolts on a license plate. An incredibly wonderful employee I think could sense that I was quite lost, went above and beyond to help. I've always loved Bloomington Hardware but this experience was just the icing on the cake. Thanks Phil!

This store has a wealth of various hardware products, which is fantastic, but they also sell local goods like jams and jellies, and these are a great treat as well. I enjoy shopping here simply to look through the wide variety of items available. The actual hardware products are reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Bloomington Hardware has been great during COVID-19, as they are always! We appreciate that they have continued doing curbside pickup instead of in-store shopping to protect the health of their employees and the public. I messaged them on Facebook and they had excellent customer service. We needed a variety of things - potting soil, an adhesive for the dishwasher, silicone for a leaky sink - and they helped us with everything, including a video consultation on the leaky sink. Thanks so much to this local business for excellent service and care.

Bought a master mechanic countersink bit set. The product does not work as advertised. There is no way to test this without opening the package. The bit set had a half inch or more of run out right out of the package. They would not take the product back even for store credit or exchange. This is the only store that I’ve ever experienced this with. They have a strangle hold on the east side of Bloomington. I try to support this local business but they do not make it easy.

First I was like "hmm.. hardware.. sounds too big for my little things I guess.." Now I always head to this place when I need to fix something. The store is well-organized with quality products. The staffs know how to help customers. They don't always offer the best price, but it still worth considering what I get from them. They listen to me and give me their best solutions - sometimes they even tell me how to solve my problem without buying anything from them!

I was initially a little shocked at the past negative reviews. At the same time, this is the only hardware store on the east side / Kroger area and I do not like having to travel across town to go shop at Kleindorfer's even if it is my favorite. I actually have good experiences here at Bloomington Hardware. The staff are usually friendly and while the store is indeed small, it has mostly something from every category.

All the employees were very kind and helpful except for one lady who micromanaged my checkout process. I was buying a lot of lightbulbs, so I had each kind of lightbulb I was buying laid out and letting the cashier know how many of each I was buying so she could scan it accordingly. The employee who stepped in made the poor cashier start all over and made her scan every single item individually, which made the process take 15 minutes, when it could have taken 5. The lady told me I probably didn't know exactly how many of each thing I was buying, which was quite frankly insulting because I had a list. It really soured my experience of the business and stressed me out :(

Great service and impressive selection for such a small store. Part of the Tru-value co-op, but still locally owned and run. More expensive than the big chains, but worth keeping them around because of exceptional service and proximity.

I don't know about the negative reviews others wrote about this place, but the time I spent there was outstanding! ! The staff was very customer service friendly and helpful. I told them what I was looking for and they knew exactly where it was. They helped me until I had what I wanted, paid for it and out the door. Highly recommend this place for novice do it yourselfer's!

The staff here is excellent! They are extremely knowledgeable & helpful - especially for those of us who are not handy around the house. I find the prices a little higher than other places, but I think it's well worth it not to get lost, ignored, & completely frustrated in a large store. It's the only hardware store on the east side of town, & I hope it stays that way.
