Amazing! Great bar and restaurant. Location is prime, love all the room and outside portion. Excited to come during the summer. The decor and open lighting is just brilliant! Great spot for a party, date, or get together.Service is excellent, staff works great together. Drinks are delicious, they have creative cocktails and a wide variety of beer to choose from!My absolute favorite thing was the oyster shooter! Try it! I’d get it as a cocktail if I could!

I've visited the Goblin and Grocer on several occasions but this time I was in town again from the bay area to visit my Dad in Chesterton and we decided to do a special Valentine's Day dinner as father/daughter. I lost my mom a few years ago and recently ended a year long relationship so this is what we just needed! This place ALWAYS blows me away, however last night was JUST so memorable. Atmosphere, ambience, service, menu, food all so perfect! The owner is always AMAZING and knows her STUFF! Our server was so GREAT too but couldn't recall her name. So if you ever are coming from out of town or even a local who has never visited this establishment, please do. You won't be disappointed!

Hubs and I wanted to try something new for our anniversary dinner & heard this place was good. Our server was super sweet and helped us decide on which was best to try. We had ahi tuna sliders for appetizers, honey soy salmon for me & hubs got hähnchen schnitzel. It was all so delicious. I also had the black walnut old fashioned, exceptional taste! The mood setting was just right and we definitely will be back!

Edit 2/24: Went for a 3rd time today. Got the Kottbullar which we have gotten 2x before. Sauce broke was inedible. Meatballs were just sitting in a pool of oil. Appetizer came out after the dinner. Also got $9 Brussels sprouts that came in a teeny tiny ramekin that you’d use to make like a little soufflé. Then there was a $3.95 credit card fee. As far as I’ve ever experienced higher end restaurants don’t charge a cc fee. This is for places where you can pay $10-$15 for a meal in cash to keep the prices low… not somewhere you’re paying $9 for no joke 4 halved brussel sprouts.Great experience again. Food was wonderful (even my 18 month old scarfed it all). Staff was friendly and was so cute and cozy decorated for the holidays. If you’re wanting to get out of the city or even out of congested areas of NWI, especially as the weather is getting colder this is where you want to go. Charming place!

Found this place on the way back home. So glad we stopped. Service was quick and friendly. The food was really great. The flavors were fantastic hot and fresh. Highly recommend stopping in next time you are in the area. Recommended reservations since table seating is a little limited. Lots of on-trend decor items to look at and shop.

I think I'm being nice with the three stars for the food. I ordered salmon. The salmon was delicious, but it was served on a spinch leaf(?) On top of a bed of very bland white rice. No sides were served as far as salad or a green veggie. Normally, when I get salmon, it would come with broccoli or asparagus. I don't think anyone in my group was happy with their meals. The meals were just okay. The staff was friendly. I would go again but probably would stick with bar food.

The atmosphere is 10/10. A really beautiful place. It's whimsical and interesting and packed full of treasures. Our server was also 10/10. I believe her name was Alexis or something similar. She did a wonderful job explaining different options and how the menus rotated. I ordered the French onion soup. It was ok, but pretty mediocre. The onions aren't caramelized, they are boiled. The broth is light and not super flavorful. There's no bread on top just a slice of cheese melting but not broiled or browned. It was served with a pack of oyster crackers. My husband ordered the Catch of the Day. Our server said it was Lake Superior white fish. It was pan fried and served over a bed of vegetables. It was very good but the amount of food wasn't much for the price. I ordered the Zucchini Noodles with white wine sauce. They came in a decent serving size! They were mediocre. They were barely cooked, which wasn't too bad. The pickled artichoke hearts were a delicious surprise but they were cold (I still ate them!) The sauce doesn't taste like wine at all, it actually tastes similar to the onion soup broth. Light and lacking flavor. It wasn't BAD, it was mediocre. I wouldn't order it again. We shared a small key lime pie after dinner and it was delicious. We'll try again sometime, maybe on the next menu rotation.

Was told it was a cool place. Attempted to call, no one answered. Waitress was not very good, dropped some bread off our appetizer, didn't replace. Sauce and goat cheese was good but all of the bread along with it were hard as rock. Brussel sprouts were good. Clam chowder was more of a light veggie water soup with a few small pieces of clam. Chicken pasta dish was meh. Breaded chicken itself was hot and decent. Noodles were colder, many stuck together. Decent lemon flavor. Clam chowder cup from appetizer was still on the table after I signed the check. Refill your own water since it doesn't seem to be worth their time. The place has potential but certainly left a lot to be desired for a night out.

Goblin & The Grocer is the rare melding of a traditional upscale kitchen, with that of a hip & chic market.Their dining space, bar, and outdoor patio, lend themselves to an abundance of joviality and all-round great times. Not to mention they host seasonal events, such as an Oktoberfest celebration, complete with all the accoutrements you could possibly ask for. For example, there was a Bavarian band in full garb that complemented their themed menu exquisitely.By the way, the key lime pies are absolutely to die for. Next time you’re in the area I’d very much suggest stopping by for a fresh made pie if nothing more 🥧 💯

Wonderful service. Staff was on point with informing of all aspects of what to order with our chosen drinks. 5star service. Food was excellent, flavors also on point. The decor was the exact opposite of drab. Things to purchase are worked into the decor. Excellent vibes. Open air feel to the inside of the restaurant. Wonderful first experience!! Our compliments to the Chef and the Owner…

High quality food at reasonable prices. Clean and bright decor with many windows and great views. Attention to detail and flavor on the menu items was much appreciated. Delicious food and friendly attentive staff. If you are nearby this is well worth the visit and repeat visits. Places like this are few and far between. KUDOS!!!

Wonderful dining experience. We were a party of 8 and things always don’t go well for large parties as something always seems to go sideways or someone isn’t happy. Not a chance here. Server and kitchen were spot on. We had oysters, Mac n cheese, meatballs and charcuterie to start. Finished everything. Steak, tuna and schnitzel for entrees. All fabulous (NY strip is probably best in Northern Indiana). And one of the few places in the area where you can make an online reservation. Don’t hesitate to book!

First, great staff and servers. Sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly, helpful and really good at their jobs. 5 stars! The atmosphere is ok. We went earlier in the evening (Saturday 5pm) for dinner and were hard right away. It was kind of quiet but it really started to fill up at about 6pm, so keep that in mind when timing your visit. The food was - well, it wasn't boring. The menu is interesting. A lot of seafood. I'm wary of seafood so far from an ocean myself...There are no sides, just one-plate meals. The appetizers were not very interesting to us, so we skipped them. The Mac and cheese appetizer would have been good but it was $25 for some reason so we skipped that too. There were some soups, basic salads, and pastas, as well as pot pies and one was vegetarian! I assume these are seasonal. But I was excited as I prefer vegetarian meals. So I ordered that mushroom pot pie and my partner ordered the regular pot pie. When they arrived, the regular pie looked beautiful. Golden flaky crust, steaming. The mushroom crust was - unappetizing. It looked flat and uncooked. Turns out, it's not only vegetarian but also gluten free. Which is in me for not noticing. Overall the GF crust wasn't terrible but it wasn't great to eat or look at next to that beautiful regular crust. So, one ding for really bad presentation there, and the next ding is the filling. While the veg and mushrooms were cooked well and seemed very fresh, the gravy was thin and soupy in both pies. The strangest part was the I empowering flavor of something almost acidic. Lemon? Vinegar? A sour tangy taste took over the whole filling in both pies. No one could identify it. It was very unexpected and pretty off-putting to get that zingy flavor in a pot pie...The atmosphere was a little weird. Sort of like it was trying to be upscale and hipstery, but its still in Beverly Shores... When I walked in a little scruffy after a few hours hiking the dunes, I definitely felt out of place in hiking boots and flannels. I thought this place was more for the campers down the road, but I guess it's for Chicago people who don't really want to leave Chicago... One good thing though, it's NOT full of TVs! The bar has like 1 TV and that was wonderful.Overall, this place is fine - if you don't want to drive any farther to get a more substantial meal. If you prefer your pot pies with more of a familiar traditional flavor profile, or if you want a full dinner with variety after a long day, head down the road to Michigan City and see the options there

I kept hearing about this place and decided to finally check it out. Came in on a Saturday evening and they were busy. I'd recommending making a reservation. We were greeted right away and given the option to sit at the bar. The bar had enough space that you didn't feel on top of other guests. The decore throughout was adorable with little goblins tucked away. My husband and I both ordered different schnitzels. My jager schnitzel was honestly as delicious as some of the schnitzel I had in Germany. Overall I highly recommend coming here and I plan to come back.

Cheerful place with friendly service. Prices a bit high. I had an Italian salad. It was ok but I couldn't taste or tell if it had a dressing. We both had water to drink and the jug of water already on the table is what we had and it was lukewarm. Another server eventually refilled it so it was a bit cold. My companion had the vegetable naan with slaw and liked it.

Very cool place! The dishes are unique and the coffee is local (Lakeshore). I had the lobster pot pie, which was very different than a chicken pot pie. We had several in our party and everyone was happy with their food. The prices are a little high for the area, but not too bad.We also had the braised meatballs as an appetizer, they were very good!

I hate leaving reviews but this was the most overpriced rip off I’ve had in years. I know how hard this industry works. The server we had was very nice. But almost every dish we ordered was bad and overpriced.Their take on esquites… it was broken cheese sauce with corn. Served with way too salty store bought chips.Oysters were actually good. The 60 day sirloin… Jesus. First, I guarantee this came from Sysco. I ordered it medium rare. It came well done and already sliced. On a bed of wilted spinach, barely sautéed zucchini and cherry tomatoes. A semi competent home cook could have made this better. The mussel broth was pure oil.Combine this with $15 drinks… and we got a $200 bill with tip.

Located at Rt. 12 & Broadway, a stone's throw from the Beverly Shores South Shore station and only a mile or so from Lake Michigan. Went for the first time on July 4th. There was a band playing outside and they were serving ribs & brisket from a big smoker to people seated under red umbrellas on a big patio out front.Open space inside with lots of windows & casual table seating. Bar fills about half the room and guests were eating at the bar. Across the room, deli/takeout counter, chalkboard menu on the wall. Friendly staff in jeans & checked shirts. The place looks so... humble. But don't be fooled. Read the menu: Wedge Salad, Raw Oysters... Lobster Pot Pie, Faroe Island Salmon, Roasted Vegetable Hummus... We had Linguini Cacio e Pepe (garlic, butter, parmesan, cracked black pepper) and a side of Roasted Corn that was like nothing I've ever tasted. The flavors were so unique, I can't wait to go back and try something else. They take reservations. The parking lot is small and pretty rough.

Wow! This place just opened and is fantastic. Great atmosphere with outside dining. The meals were delicious with outstanding presentation. Nice variety on the menu. We will be back!We were back several times with the latest being in February 2020. The atmosphere, service and food are still very good. I’m reducing my review by one star because I sense they have lost their connection with the local market. We wanted a glass of Chardonnay with lunch. The only choice offered was a $16 glass. That is a higher than average price for similar restaurants in downtown Chicago.

Smaller portions, but food is good & priced right. Good selection of craft beer, on tap, bottles, & cans. Lots of good mixed drinks. Jim & mike are some of the best bartenders around. Some items only available at certain times. Lunch until 3, apps 3 to 5, dinner starts at 5.

We stopped here at the end of an evening for dessert and cocktails. They were busy, but we were lucky enough to get a table at the bar. Our drinks and dessert were tasty. We also enjoyed watching the bartenders in their element - they made custom drink after custom drink, never becoming frazzled or frustrated. They were amazing. I would definitely frequent this establishment if we lived in the area - the menu looks great! Thanks for a lovely evening!

We had amazing service and the food was great. The server recommended the corn dip and it was delicious!!! We really appreciated how they treated our dog, Boone, like a celebrity!! They brought him out a fresh bowl of ice water and loved on him. They didn't make us feel unwelcome for bringing our furry kid!!

The breakfast dish I had was interesting! They called it hash. It was a nice mix of tomatoes, zucchini, mushrooms and potatoes served with a scrambled egg on top with a side of bacon. It could have used some more spices but the added salt and pepper helped. I also had multi grain toast which was tasty. I thought it was pricy but it was fresh so maybe it was worth the price.

The food was delicious, the service is fabulous, and the atmosphere is perfect. Across the street from kemil beach, you get that beach vacation vibe but with a peppering of elegance. The place is nice, very clean, and VERY friendly. My fiance and I both had the grilled vegetable ciabatta and it tasted almost like a veggie muffaletta which is great. We had a side of pasta salad which is homemade, and it is phenomenal! If i could order a large batch to go I totally would! For dessert we had their gooey brownies and they were delightful. Also, we had a couple local beers on tap that are as good as expected. Overall, the place is wonderful and i cannot wait to go back. The prices were a little more upscale than usual for Indiana, but it is worth it.
