Very nice staff who love the animals and care for them the best they can. We adopted Jackson, who was in their care for 11 months. Our application was approved very quickly (in advance). I appreciate that they seek the most appropriate placement for the animals and that they expect adopters to be able to provide the care the pet needs. We love Jackson—what a GOOD boy!💕

i adopted my sweet boy Benji from white river humane society a little over a month ago and they were so nice and responsive! i came from georgia to adopt him and they worked with me so well. he’s been the greatest addition to my life and i’m so thankful for white river humane society for helping me adopt him! he is doing amazing with his forever family! thank you guys!!!

We have adopted three pets from the White River Humane Society and they have been the best. The staff is absolutely wonderful! The facility is dated yet the staff makes the best of it regardless for the animals. I’ve never seen such a proactive shelter with their outreach to help people find their lost pets or in just finding homes for pets in the shelter. They are working on funding and building a new shelter and never has such a dedicated staff needed such a facility to continue their good works.

I work here and I feel like thisis my first home. All the employees here are very hard workers and love the animals. All the hearts are in the right place. I would rather be at work with all these babies then be at home sometimes. I love my job and could never ask for another place to go to work at everyday. I am an employee and most would think I would not rate it bad if I felt it was bad. Then you don't know me. I am happy here and love coming in everyday

They are a great group of employees. The manager " Dorie " love's and care's so much for all the pets there. She was so helpful for the situation that we were in. If I could , I would give them a 10 star. Please help with the Humane Society, as they do care so much for the pets.

Adopted a cat from here who is very sweet. The facility can be a little smelly from all the animals but they do a good job of making sure we can meet the animals in a peaceful environment.

It is crazy to see the cost here to adopt a dog, or at any humane society in general. How can charging these prices help you adopt out animals, and then to charge 300$ for a “specialty “ dog breed is wild!

Picked up the lovely Chica from WRHS on Saturday the 7th and everything went well. Staff was helpful, the adoption process was easy enough, there's no doubt that they care about the dogs and that's why they are picky with the people they let adopt. (I would be as well, especially working in a shelter.)The kennel area has always been clean when I've gone by and though it's loud in there, that's to be expected. I wish some of the dogs could have some more exercise time, but I understand how that may be difficult to near-impossible for the staff. At least they have that nice fenced-in dog run for that purpose. The people who work there do their best, and they care. That much is obvious!

They discriminate against people that has a disability. My granddaughter filled out an app. to work there a few months ago (she walks with crutches but she can do more than what you think she can when you first meet her) but they didn't give her a chance to show them what she CAN and CAN NOT DO they just looked at her saw she had crutches and said they'd call her the Thursday of that week to let her know if she got the job...they NEVER called. Plus a month ago I saw a dog there that looked cool cause he had his declaws and then I go to see him again today only to find out they had his declaws removed for no reason. My opinion if a dog or cat or any animal has something unique about them please do not get rid of what makes them unique even of you think it is best for them or that whatever makes the animal unique and you think it is hurting them DO NOT GET RID OF IT as long as the animal doesn't seem to be in pain they are ok. Please don't try to change an animal just cause you can."Again just my opinion"

They say they take animals that are abused, abandoned, or unwanted but then they go and take animals away that are doing perfectly fine with their family and aren't mistreated or unwanted. The managers are rude. And when certain people tell them something or ask a question they can't be bothered and they don't even look at you when you speak to them. Plus the kennels aren't even clean there is dog poop in all most all of them. also most of their cats are sick. I wouldn't bother taking animals to them let alone adopting from them. But I can't really stop people from doing that so...just fair warning for anyone who does adopt animals from there or take animals to them.

I have had a aching in my heart ever since I lost my soulcat back in 2011. Thanks to God and everyone at the White River Humane Society I was able to adopt a beautiful fluff baby. Grady Dale Duncan! He just brings so much adventure into our home each new day. He hides around corners and jumps out and scares the dog. I never get tired of seeing that! Lol You guys were amazing through the whole process. Thank you again for bringing us together. 😊💝🐈

I adopted a 2 month old kitten "Soda Pop" on 6/8/19. We renamed him "Ani" as homage to my late sister Deb and her beloved cat Onyx. Although it has only been a few days, he is the most wonderful kitten I have ever had. He loves people, loves to cuddle, purrs constantly, plays both with us and yet can play all by himself as well.

We came to specifically look at 2 dogs. After walking around we saw the several dogs in the bark park. We then decided that we needed to go get our current dog so she could help us pick out our new fur baby. My only complaint is that the whole building smells like urine. The process of adoption was simple. And we of course adore our new fur baby:)

I love WRHS, the people are all kind, helpful, and care about the animals. The best dog I've ever had came from here. It does take a few days to hear back while they go over your application, I think it's great they do this because you know they truly care about giving these animals good homes that are a good fit. If you've heard other people complaining about WRHS not giving pets back to owners take a minute to look at their website under the Pawsing for a Tail.

I love this shelter, and all of the staff that work here! I have adopted 11 cats over the past few years, all from White River Humane Society. I tell all of my co-workers that this is the place to go when looking to add to their family. The animals are very well loved and taken care of. The management is awesome, they work with you to place an animal that is a good fit for each customer. They are very helpful and polite every time that I go to the shelter!! Highly recommend the White River Humane Society!!!

The staff needs to better communicate to people interested in adopting an animal how many people are actually interested. We were told so many different things by the workers there... and not one time did anyone mention there were several applicants for the same dog. EVER!!!!!!! We were even told to call back to get a time for pick up after the dog received the last shots.After adopting several animals and donating each month.........We won’t be back to adopt from white river humane Society !! Very poor and unprofessional staff on 7/24/2021
