It's with a sad heart I have to share this. I was super excited to try this restaurant, as it was recommended to me. Sadly it was not good. I ordered the 12oz prime rib at 30$, it came out cold and absolutely flavorless. I got a salad and fries with it. The salad was the best part of the meal. The fries are the same fries I get from DG. My husband got the cod, and right off the bat it was all wrong. Cod is not a fish that gets breaded, it's battered, on top of that the pieces were tiny and thin. He had the mashed potatoes that tasted like flake potatoes with canned chicken gravy. Then we got the garlic bread which was white toast with hardly any garlic, and so hard that it could have been used as croutons. The best part of our meal was actually our waitress, who was kind, funny, and nothing short of amazing. Sadly my husband and I will not return.

I got their sirloin steak for $20... It came with one side and a salad and a roll... I asked for medium well and that's exactly the way it was and it was delicious! The last four out of five restaurants I've been to that I've gotten a steak have not cooked it correctly... It was cooked well done and was pretty much dried out... The rest of my party got the soup/perch dinner/broasted half a chicken... Everyone was pleased with their dishes.

May 2 2024....Very disappointed heard nothing but good things about this restaurant it really had a great European atmosphere.... We're from outta town and It was my birthday i ordered the ribeye, cooked well done it was red inside . I had to send it back it still was one of the worst stakes I've ever tasted chewy and no flavor for $30. I would have thought it would have been better. The salad was the best part of the meal. I had a birthday girl button on a very large button because it was my birthday and our waitress didn't even acknowledge that... sorry to say I will not return or recommend this restaurant....

Terrible! Called on Friday to inquire about reservations for Saturday as it is my wife's birthday. Was directed to the manager who was very vague about the reservations. To me, it's a yes or a no. Showed up at 5pm and checked in for a party of 2. Forty five minutes later after seeing several parties of 2 seated ahead of us, (no reservations)we gave up, after driving almost an hour to get there! I will stop here as this place has wasted enough of my time!

Absolutely love St. James! Historic location, wonderful staff, the BEST broasted chicken anywhere, delicious prime rib, fantastic fried fish, awesome American fries, I could keep going! Tonight, I got the black angus sirloin special (10oz with a salad/soup and a side for only $18) and it was tender and perfectly cooked. But I've never had a disappointing meal here. Whether a simple lunch or a nice dinner, St. James is the spot. My mom is from Avilla, so we often make the short drive from Fort Wayne for many reasons; we always plan time for a bite to eat here. Definitely a must-stop!

As a first-time dinner at this restaurant. The experience server was great,the food prepared as ordered, and tasted great. The restaurant itself looked well maintained for it's age . My only complaint was the room I dined in was a bit smaller so it made for a more compact experience with other tables. Although, I believe they are doing the best they can with the space available .

Nov 30, 2019. Great service on a Saturday afternoon with server Amanda. The smothered chicken was delicious with sauteed onions, mushrooms, and sauce. The apple dumpling was an excellent add on to finish the meal.
