We stopped by to check out the store, and I have to say it was one of the nicest pet stores I’ve ever been to. Even the animals seemed happier - birds out of cages, bunnies out in the open, open to all adoption center. The staff was also very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. The gentleman we talked to took his time to answer our questions without rushing or making us feel like we were just taking his time. Check it out if you’re looking for a pet or need advice!

This pet store is great. From furry critters to exotic lizards to freahwater plants and fish. They have a very good selection of products that are needed for your pet and prices are reasonable. The best part of this store is the staff. From correct answers to reasonable suggestions, it is refreshing to talk to fellow animal lovers who work here. Management and staff are patient with the "younger" pet lovers, as well as the older ones. If there was a 6th start, they would get it. Thank you Wilmette Pet Center, for all your help and assistance.

Wilmette Pet Center is the go-to pet shop on the North Shore! The store is clean and organized, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable — most are loving pet owners themselves. We have gotten sweet bunnies from them in the past, and today took home three little sister baby rats. Alex was so patient with my daughter as she sat with each rat to see which she wanted. She wanted them all. Alex helped us choose supplies and equipment and gave us the cutest little box to take the girls home in. I highly recommend Wilmette Pet Center.

I really wish I could put more stars!!! Wilmette pet is honestly an amazing place, in so many ways. They educate new pet owners and take time to bond human and furry friend . I’ve gotten 2 Guinea pigs from there, both females. They are both so well mannered and you can see from the instant you walk in how important their job is to all of the employees. They all care for the animals and tend to their every need, and make sure they have lots of happy, healthy animals. Above all, tad and porschia work so hard to find their customers the right pet. Honestly, the very first thing that caught my eye was how much space the small animals have, especially Guinea pigs. See, small animals are often cooped together in tiny spaces when they are in largely manufactured companies and stores, whereas here their animals have tons of hay to burrow in and lots of room. There is also a wide variety of treats for pets and fun toys to keep their little minds busy. 1000% percent recommend.

This store is always so welcoming to its customers and their pets. They encourage browsing and conversation and are so knowledgeable and patient.Recently Alex helped us pick out a whole setup for some fish. He was patient and kind as we oscillated back and forth between what to purchase. I really hope this store continues on.

This place is very nice to their pets and customers. They take much better care of their pets than a big chain store. They let you hold almost all of the pets as long as a parent/guardian is with you. If you like reptiles, fish, bunny’s, hampsters, guinea pigs, mice or other animals this is the place to get them as well as their supplies. I want to give a big shout out to Alex, an employee of this store. He was very knowledgeable and gave me tons of information about bearded dragons. He went out of his way to print even more info for me so I can take with me and understand what sort of responsibility comes with these special critters.

Our dog actually discovered this place on a walk and routinely wants to stop in for a treat. This store is really great and has the friendliest staff ever. You can adopt pets from here, too, plus buy fish and aquarium equipment. If you love animals, you should check this place out and support a local, small business!

Wonderful experience!Grew up in Wilmette 30 years ago, live in Glenview. Needed to replace the pet Hamster for the kiddos. Unsure where to look. Went back to the childhood pet store, and it was everything I remembered. Mom and pop, friendly. Believe Mike(not sure, forgot name from week ago, sorry) helped us pick out the new addition.He patiently walked us through all the different hamsters window by window, explaining the differences and allowing us the option to hold each.Truly delightful time, and prices were right in a delightful the ballpark range.The kids love the Bear Hamster we named BBB.Thank you.

After coming to Wilmette Pet Store for 10 years it dawned on me that I have never written a review for this amazing gem of a place. The product they carry is top shelf as well as the variety. I have always gotten stellar service from everyone, and most of that is from Tad. He goes above and beyond every time, and genuinely loves everything about his job.He has educated kids i’ve brought in as well as myself. Today he noticed my phone wasn’t working and offered to correct the issue. Love this place and all that they do in the store and in the community.

We found two toads in our backyard recently and took them into Wilmette Pet Center. An employee, Alex, was so helpful in advising us on what we needed for the toads. He got us set up with a terrarium, lights, and food, and even constructed the terrarium setup with extra materials (e.g., reptile bark, moss, etc.). Great job!

I am not one to write reviews but I just HAD to! We had the best experience at this pet shop and I have to give all credit to employee Connor, a young, knowledgeable and enthusiastic reptile specialist. He went above and beyond to help my son purchase all items needed for our newest pet, a crested gecko! We are so grateful for Connor!

My kids wanted to go see some animals and maybe pet a few animals and this place was amazing. The staff was so nice to my kids. One of the staff members took my kids all over the store and showed them the animals, let them pet some, feed some and my kids spent some time in the cat room petting kittens. Everyone there was patient and kind. We did not have any intention of buying anything and that did not matter. Would definitely recement this place! It was also very clean!

Super helpful in answering all our questions. A man named Alex sold me my rats, and because he had previous experience owning them he was able to explain in detail their behavior and offer help where I needed. Would definitely recommend!

The best pet store period. Alex and Porsha are amazing! While trying to decide a best food choice for a picky-eater Beta fish, Porsha shared her experience with her own Beta and offered a few pellets to try before purchasing, simply awesome, thank you Porsha!When I showed interest in purchasing a non-priced duck-weed, Alex kindly packed a bunch and made an easy sell with a smile, how cool is that! Normally I love this place and go for most of my pets supplies. I'm not sure I'll be going back there though. I had an unpleasant experience with one of the associates Alex. When I went up and asked him a question about some food I was looking at he responded incredibly condescendingly. I'm not really looking to shop at places that hire people like that.

Wilmette Pet Center is by far the best store in the area for aquarium needs. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly for any of my aquarium needs. Anytime I need anything they know the remedy and can quickly order items I need. I would not go anywhere else for any aquarium.

My daughter and I bought two cockatiels. Jasmine was incredibly helpful, knowledgable, friendly and patient. She gave advice from bathing, feeding, boarding, and even flight training. She clearly loves all animals. Her kindness and genuine wish for our happiness with our new birds makes Wilmette Pet Center our home for any pet related purchases or questions.

This is one of the better pet stores I have been to. They take good care of their animals and everyone that works there is a class act. I wanted to pick out a hand weaned parakeet (as they tend to be much more friendly to people) and they had many of them. Most pet stores buy parakeets from mass breeders who could care less about hand weaning their birds. Not only did they have a great selection but the employees were very helpful and attentive. Julia helped me pick out my new friend by allowing me to interact with the parakeets so I could gauge the one that seemed the most friendly to my wife and I. I took home my family's' new family member. I also forgot a tiny part to the cage that I purchased and Julia chased me down the block. Go to a big box pet store and you will not get that kind of service. Great people and great selection. You won't go wrong here!

Absolutely wonderful store! The place features a large and unique selection of pets, as well as a cat room, and puppy play pen which allows customers to interact with the dogs and cats up for adoption there. I have bought numerous fish, a chinchilla, three rats, gift cards, and many pet supplies there. The staff are extremely well knowledgeable and helpful. When I was trying to find good tank companions for my cichlid, the fish expert walked me though the options, gave thorough explanations, and was so kind and professional. The staff there truly seem like they care for their animals and show them so much love. Although it is a bit of a hike for me, it's definitely my regular pet place!!

The best pet store I know off.Thank you to the young gentlemen for his expert advise on dog food. He recommended the right product for a dog with stomach problems and gave us a can of pumpkin on the house to try adding it to the dog's diet...guess what you made a loyal customer for life.The place is awesome to take any kids to, it is full of life of all sort and it is a small business....they are essential!

This pet store is amazing! My 9yr old son loves this place. We didn’t even have a pet/any need to go into the store but sure happy we did. Now we make it a part of our regular routine to stop by the store after school. The whole staff is great- especially Tad who is always welcoming us and making a pet store experience a fun one. We now have a puppy, so even more reason to frequently visit the store!

I used to shop this store occasionally when I lived in the area several years ago and got most of my fish here.I stopped in a few weeks ago for some cat food and litter and left pretty much empty-handed because the prices were so high and the selection was limited to only the most expensive brands.This place is great if you wanna feed your pampered, pedigreed pooch the very trendiest food available. If you're looking to keep your loveable mutt or rescued feral cat fed without breaking the bank - you may wanna shop down the street at Jewel.
