I have never wrote a review on anything and this experience was just the worst. My grandpa was a long time patient and we brought our dog in to be put down. We were very sad as it is and when we got there we didn’t even get to go to a room or get privacy. The doctor came out with a syringe to put him to sleep right out in the lobby. I have never seen anything like that. I had to ask to say goodbye to him in private. Not only that but they just didn’t have any empathy or act like they care about anything. Walking in the whole office smelled strongly of cigarettes. Very disappointed and sad. Don’t bring your pet here.

I purchased 2 himalayan kittens from a so called breeder in Rockford with a certificate of health signed by Dr V Shapiro documenting they were free from any apparent signs of contagious or infectious disease. I made an appointment the next day for a health exam for both kittens with my Vet. One kitten was diagnosed with a grade 2 heart murmur and both kittens were diagnosed with a highly contagious parasitic intestinal fecal infection called Giardia. Anyone with any common sense knows you cannot tell if an animal is free from any infectious contagious disease, especially Giardia just by looking at them and not ordering appropriate testing which requires a stool specimen for ova and parasites. Upon calling the office to question him, he raised his voice with some Russian accent and asked me if I could understand English.I can understand English perfectly but my question to you Dr. Shapiro is: How did you EVER get a license to practice Veterinary medicine??? Customers and animal loversBEWARE !!!! Moral of the story.....there are many excellent Vets out there that are competent, qualified, compassionate, professional and genuinely care about the animals they treat without taking your money and delivering subtherapeutic, inappropriate care to your pet, so stay away from this character! Avoid the Belarus cat breeder in Rockford as well!

Came here for an exam and told the vet that my dog had heart murmurs. All he did was check my dogs heart with a stethoscope, told me he had heart murmurs, and said that he can recommend a specialist who can ultrasound his heart for 500 dollars. The appointment was less than 5 minutes and they didn’t even give him his exam. Just put him on a scale and charged me 60 dollars. The vet also went outside to smoke twice in the five minutes I was there. If you really love your animal, go to a different vet.

Dr. Shapiro is a miracle man! He has saved my dogs life not only once but twice! He is a well experienced professional, knows what he’s doing. Clean, respectable office I recommend everyone I can to him! Very passionate also reasonable pricing I trust only him! He would not suggest surgery unless it’s very serious and will take any tests that are necessary! FULL SERVICE! After my dog surgery he kept checking up with me day and night to see how the progress is. I can’t thank him and his assistant enough for all the loving care that has been provided! All protocols of Covid were taken seriously very clean and masks were worn! His assistant Natalya is fabulous and very kind hearted! Always so nice to see them both ❤️🌹 thank you for always making sure Toby is at his best!

Very caring, professional, and intelligent staff. Brought in our sick cat that had an open infected wound. Both Dr. Shapiro and Natalya treated our cat with care and respect and quickly comforted her (and us as well). Dr. Shapiro is very knowledgeable and experienced. Our kitty was prescribed antibiotics and natural healing of the wound (as opposed to an invasive surgery recommended by our local animal ER). Two weeks later, kitty is almost fully recovered! If you are looking for a caring, knowledgeable, and honest vet clinic, this is the place to go. They value honest and practical recommendations for your pet's health over other vets that "over-diagnose" to look to charge you thousands of dollars. Thank you!

Dr Shapiro is a phenomenal vet. He has been looking after my dogs, who are now 11 and 13 years old, for years. The office is always clean, the staff is amazingly courteous and go out of their way to ensure all my dogs' needs are met. When one of my dogs became very ill, Dr Shapiro went above and beyond with his knowledge and expertise to save his life. His attention to detail was impeccable and he personally called, after business hours and on weekends, to ensure my fury friend was getting better. I would never go to another vet. I highly recommend him.

Interesting experience for sure that has even led me to write a negative review for the first time. I personally like having a vet that takes the time to examine my pets and doesn’t spend time outside smoking a cigarette. The lady in front was giving attitude in response to the questions I was asking even though as a pet owner I should rightfully so ask. I also find alarming that upon entering the exam room with my pets I see the counter scattered with medicines everywhere even syringes out in the open not disposed of properly. I have friends who’ve gone to vets where they are given the proper treatment but this vet was just not it. I would recommend people to not bring their pets here and find a better veterinarian that truly cares for your pets. Our animals deserve the proper care and attention from a veterinarian. Stay away from this veterinary clinic.

We love Dr. Shapiro and Nurse Natasha. They are the kindest, most compassionate and most professional animal health specialists out there. I've had a lot of dogs and cats and been to numerous specialists for different reasons, but Dr. Shapiro seems to always find an answer. His interest is only in the animal. So happy we were referred to him. Additionally, if there's a problem with your pet, Natasha the nurse said you can contact Dr. Shapiro on his cell phone. He's always there for you. Who does that? Nobody in the world!!

Dr Shapiro saw my pup about a bad knee. Stated trauma, needed surgery. Never gave a statement saying such. I’ve called, stopped by for said statement and he refuses. He doesn’t return my calls. On one instance he locked me out of his office because a dog was off leash inside. He is rude, and abrupt. I feel he favors patients of his own nationality. I don’t recommend unless you are European.

Dr. Shapiro is an amazing veterinarian. Our family originally went to Blue Pearl and we were told our cat was going to die due to kidney failure, which they told us might not even work. We were also offered an option to put her to sleep. Our kitty had a death sentence, as we couldn't afford to help her out. We went to Dr. Shapiro with almost no hope. The receptionist at the front, Natalia, was extremely polite, nice and cared for our dear cat, Gracey, as if she was her own. After a brief examination, Dr. Shapiro told us our cat had a chance of recovery, He ended up saving our nice kitty. It has been a month since the procedure and she is back to her normal, sassy self. After two months of unsuccessful treatment at a different clinic, my friends suggested that I see Dr. Shapiro. My 9 year old Persian cat suffered a horrible skin and ear infection. When I came, Dr. Shapiro and Nurse Natalia spent two hours determining the plan of treatment and started it immediately. During the treatment, Dr. Shapiro and Nurse Natalia always called to check up on her health and how treatment was going. After one and a half months of treatment, my cat was fully cured. I very thankful for their attentiveness and knowledge.
