Ace is the place for convenience, not pricing. A little more than the big box stores. You can't beat the convenience of in and out quick. This is an older store, and a little run down, but the staff makes up for it, always willing to help. A lot easier to find help than the big stores also. They had what I was looking for and I was in and out in less than 4 minutes. I'll be coming back for sure.

This Ace Hardware has been incredible to our family for many years. There is always someone professional and friendly on hand to answer questions. Last week I had to return some air filters I had bought many months ago (I had purchased the wrong size and didn't think a size too small was a big deal until my A/C provider showed up). I didn't have a receipt and they went the extra mile and looked it up and gave me a full refund. Very unexpected and generous, thank you!

I needed help finding the several items I needed. Staff was VERY helpful! In fact, one gentleman helped find all items, reading the info on each label, to be sure it could be used for what I described. What he wasn't sure of, other staff was asked and happily assisted. Definitely will shop there again!

The man in the store is very helpful every time I go there.This was an old review. Now all bew employees the way it looks, they were toying to help but not knowledgeable. ( wheres the employees fro. A year or so ago)

I love this store. They do tune ups for mowers and snow plows. I took my riding lawn mower and snow plow there. They even have a service to pick the equipment up at you home. A very nice gentleman came and loaded my mower and snow plow onto his trailer. The work done was excellent. I was very happy and at a decent price. My one complaint about the store is that it looks tired inside and needs a store rehab. However that will not prevent me from going back.

I drive pass three other Ace Hardware Stores to go to Murphy's. The small engine repair shop is the best in town! My mowers and snow blowers run better than when new! John is an absolute all star mechanic, Al is extremely helpful manager and all of the staff are very friendly. And talk about selection! They have everything in there.

The always helpful staff is reason enough to go here first for anything you need for your home. And you can buy a wide variety of bolts, nuts, etc individually instead of having to buy packages. Plus you don't have to walk a half a mile to get around the store like the big box stores.

What a great little store. New to the area and loyal to my small hardware stores. These guys were helpful and very knowledgeable. Helped me pick out the new mower and all stuff I needed for the season. Will definitely be coming back for all my hardware needs!

As always, service was knowledgeable and extremely courteous. They went out of their way to help with an item not in stock. I have been coming here for 22 years. Always receive immediate helpful & courteous service; staff go out of their way to help when items not on hand; repair lawn mowers and snow blowers (pick-up and deliver if necessary). One does not often find this level of customer service anymore. I wish Murphy's Ace Hardware many more years of successful business in our community!

The absolute worst service I have ever received. Dropped off my lawnmower to get it fixed as the starter cord broke. They said it would be fixed in one day. Three days later, and still no call. I called them and they said it was ready. The lawnmower was missing the cover, and the person "helping" us told us that that part doesn't really matter anyways and that it was essentially gone. The pull cord that they installed was clearly used and I was charged $35 for it even though they had a cheaper one in the same store. Then, the mower wouldn't even start. Super unhelpful staff in the back, constantly giving attitude and not even wearing masks, as required by law. I'm thankful that I got a refund for this "service" but will never go to an Ace Hardware again. My mower is unusable after it was "repaired" at this store and now I have to get a new one.

My daughter bought a house in West Chicago and needed a lawnmower so I checked for hardware stores and yours come up. I worked at a Ace Hardware here in WI a long time ago and love the Ace stores. Well we went in and had excellent service. The owner helped us with a mower and told us that they would deliver it and service later if needed. He also give us very helpful tips and running of mower and general information for a 1st time home buyer. My daughter will go back there for other items...support your local small business always! Thanks

I needed parts for a patio umbrella base and waited for help while he was showing a potential customer a we go lawnmower. This guy knows the score when it comes to explaining all the features this highclass mower had. After he got done with the mower demo it took him about 15 minutes to help me get the parts that I needed. I would not hesitate to go back to this place. maybe to consider buying the top of the Line WeGo mower even if it does cost $545. GOOD PLACE GOOD SERVICE

Would like to give 5stars for the staff. They are always so kind and helpful and dont make you feel dumb about all your household diy confusion questions. But...they are pricey and always have an issue with the connection at the credit card machine. I spent over 20mins one day just trying to pay.

I feel bad that I only write reviews when I've had a bad experience but here's another one.I picked up 6 items today. When I get to the register, the cashier needed to look up 3 of the items. He then charges me 20% - 33% more than the displayed price. I proceed to show him the displayed prices and he responds, "Oh we need to change that."I asked if he would honor the displayed price since, you know, the displayed price is what a customer expects to pay. I get a flat, emotionless no. This is the classic I DON'T GIVE A PUCK attitude folks. That's what to expect at your local West Chicago ACE Hardware. Get it together guys. Your customer base is fading.

A great little hardware store with a wonderful selection. The store I'd well maintained and well organized. The employees are always helpful and really seem to care about the customer. I've been here several times and I've never had a poor experience.

I find the employees at this Ace Hardware are quick to approach me to help in any way they can. They're friendly and knowledgeable. I love to go into this well stocked store for paint, tools, outdoor grills, lawn furniture, snow blowers small items I need and more. The big box stores drive me crazy. It's hard to find someone to even ask a question of in Menards or Home Depot which are overwhelmingly large. It's a nice feeling to go into a family store like Murphy Ace Hardware because I can get in and out quickly with all the help I needed.

This is a horrible store with the worst staff, website said they were open till 05 on Christmas eve, I was there at 1:59 PM and they shut the door in our face said we are closing at 02. Wow, wouldn't even let in a customer at 1:59? All I needed was a capacitor. Horrible staff; no wonder ACE hardware is going our of business everywhere.

I called in to ask if they sell water filters. They said yes, I then ask him if I give you a serial number of a water filter can you tell me if you have it in stock the gentleman says no I’m not near a computer. I said is it possible for you to check.Best thing I have heard NO I don’t want to go check. People wonder why Local stores are going out of business and people shop online more.I’m not asking for first class customer service but you can at least tell me that you have it so I can go buy it from you.

They really are, "the helpful hardware wo & man". I went in there this evening because of that buy 1 get 1 free on the gallons of paint sale going thru Monday. I wanted to get some samples to put on the walls before I committed to the gallons. Thought they were open till 7PM but they close @ 6PM on Saturday. The guy was there till 20 minutes after closing making my 4 sample pints & he was still helping another couple with their paint. I love this store! Even when I'm just looking for 1 little screw I get the same help. I hope they never go out of business.

Everything about the store I love. This place is my go-to anytime I need any tools,nails, etc! They have everything available at a fair price 👍🏼 However, anytime you need an item ordered from this place DO NOT get help from a guy named John. He works in the back and he’s the absolute worst 👎🏻😡 DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH HIM LIKE I DID. RIDICULOUS!!

I was accidentally sending my checks to their store instead of another ACE. Al Murphy, without any long explanation on my part, said, "no worries, your refund check is on the way."A different store is much closer to me but we have been using whenever possible the Murphy store for over 30 years. I will only shop Ace...Murphy's Ace. Smaller store. Possible for me to navigate. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. Pleasant & courteous. Great location for me! If not in stock they order it for you. I'm often asked why I don't shop big box stores...reasons above are why...But at Murphy's, they know me, greet me and I need the fabulous customer service!

Terrible location. Employees all have something better to do than help a customer out. It took 4 people to do one in others job cuz they hate their jobs. Everyone has an attitude and would not help with tool replacement for craftsman. I will never go to this location ever again, and would recommend others to go elsewhere. This Ace sucks........

I'll never shop there again!! The price on the item that I purchased wasn't showing on sale in their system. The clerk requested a price check. When she was told that the item was on sale. She Never apologized. That was definitely poor customer service!!
